The Preparation Exercise In this exercise you will learn a preparation exercise with which to start your day or before you encounter a difficult situation.

This technique helps you to obtain an inner peace or feeling of balance so you can deal with the stress or tension that you are experiencing or expecting.

It thus helps you to build confidence and inner peace beforehand.

First,

Make sure that you are sitting or lying down in a comfortable position.

Give yourself some time to really be able to do this exercise well.

Then close your eyes and focus your intention inside for the next few minutes.

Firstly,

I ask you calmly breathe in and breathe out to prepare yourself for this exercise.

Breathe in through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

Now try to focus on a future situation that may be difficult.

Visualise the impending stress as best you can.

Try to imagine this situation as realistically as possible.

Now take a moment to experience how you will feel.

Take a moment to feel your body tension.

Now try to focus on a future situation that may be difficult.

Then bring your attention to your breathing.

Breathe in to a count of five and breathe out to a count of five as well.

So in through your nose and out through your mouth just as you have practiced before.

Try this for a moment alone.

Just go at your own pace.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Breathe out through your mouth.

Now visualise that your difficult situation is beginning and imagine that you obtain a sense of inner peace and confidence with each inhalation.

With every breath you take you sense a feeling of trust and confidence.

Each time you inhale this feeling becomes bigger and stronger.

I will let you experience this.

Try this on your own for a while.

If the sense of trust or peace is completely absorbed deeply into your body then you can make this feeling stronger by repeating a suitable mantra or phrase that appeals to you.

For example,

If I feel tension beginning I will simply return to my inner peace or every time I feel stress I will return to my inner confidence.

Say this mantra in your head to the rhythm of your breathing.

Repeat this phrase as often as necessary to feel completely calm and powerful again.

Enjoy this moment of peace and silence before you continue with your day.
