Healing Your Wounds
This recording combines words and music to activate the brain's healing properties. Written and recorded at the request of my Christian clients in my therapy practice, The Path to Healing, who repeatedly asked: “Don’t you have any meditations with Jesus in them?”
Transcript
Whenever you're ready,
Get comfortable where you're sitting or lying.
Take a few cleansing breaths.
Slowly breathing in through your nose.
Allow this breath to flow deeply down through your lungs to your abdomen.
Slowly exhaling through your mouth or nose,
Whichever is most comfortable for you.
You may wish to place your hand on your abdomen just for a moment to ensure you're breathing in the most helpful way.
As you breathe in,
Your hand should rise a bit.
Breathing in slow and deep.
Exhaling out fully.
Allowing any distractions and stress of the day to float out of you.
Give yourself permission to spend the next little while caring for your mind,
Body,
And spirit.
Know that your spirit is supported by your body.
Your body is supported by the chair beneath you.
The chair is supported by the floor.
The floor is supported by the foundation of the building.
The foundation is supported by the earth.
The earth is supported by the universe.
And the universe sits securely in the palm of God's hand.
Slowly bring your consciousness from your head down through your neck to your shoulders,
Arms,
Lungs,
Abdomen,
Hips,
Buttocks,
Thighs,
Calves,
Ankles,
Balls of your feet,
And your toes.
Notice if there is any place you feel tension or tightness.
Just breathe a cleansing breath into these areas to release what you do not want.
Just breathe and let it go.
You may choose to hold on to any tension you feel is necessary for you to be safe.
Know that this is the body,
This is the temple,
The vessel that God has given you to travel through this journey of life.
Just notice how your body,
How your temple feels.
Notice your breath,
Notice its rhythm.
Allow yourself to connect with your breath with the knowledge that God breathed life into the world and into you.
With each breath,
Just notice how it feels as it travels through your body.
Notice how it feels as you exhale.
As you breathe,
Visualize yourself walking down a familiar road that leads to a path.
Know that this path is symbolic of the path of your life.
You may bring with you anything you need to help you feel comfortable on this journey.
This path leads you into a sacred,
Peaceful place.
It could be at the shore of a lakeside mountain where at dusk you can see the mountain silhouette with the mist rising up from the lake as the sun begins to set.
Notice the sounds of excitement from the peep toads,
The crickets,
The birds,
And the geese as if they are serenading you.
The scent of pine and fresh air fills your body.
Feel the air on your skin.
Is it warm and balmy or cool and crisp?
Your sacred place may be at the beach where the sand conforms to your feet as you walk.
Take notice of the scent of the air.
Notice how your skin feels as the sun and the breeze embrace it.
Notice the white caps that move fluidly as if they were choreographed by God to be in symphony with the sounds of the seagulls and the tide moving in and out.
Your sacred place may be somewhere different,
Somewhere that holds special meaning to you.
Notice the sounds,
The smells,
The textures,
And the temperatures that are present there.
Wherever your sacred place is,
Find a comfortable place to sit.
Notice what it's like to be in such a splendid place.
As you sit in awe of this landscape that God has created,
Be aware of His overwhelming love for you.
Notice the living water that flows through your sacred place.
Know that this water is there to nourish you,
To fill you,
And to cleanse you.
You may wish to invite any supportive,
Protective person or figure to be with you as you continue your healing journey.
You may want to ask Jesus to join you here in this sacred place.
Visualize your supportive person wrapping you in a blanket of protection.
Feel the warmth and strength of this blanket surrounding you.
You may wish to remember the people along your life's journey that have shown you loving kindness.
Breathe in the awareness of the positive mark they have left on your spirit.
As you sit in this sacred place,
You may wish to invite the Holy Spirit to direct itself to the areas of your body where any emotional and physical wounds lie.
Just notice the size of the wound,
The shape of the wound.
Do not judge it.
Do not attach to it.
Just notice it.
If it had a color,
What color might it be?
If this wounded part made a sound,
What sound would it make?
If it had a voice,
What might it say?
Let it have a voice.
Is there anything your wounded part needs?
Just notice what behaviors you have developed to manage your wounds.
Become aware of what you avoid feeling or what you avoid doing because of your wounded part.
Become aware of what you avoid saying because of your wounds.
Notice God standing before you with arms wide open.
Allow yourself to fall into his arms or crawl up into his lap.
Notice what it's like to give yourself permission to be cradled by God.
Or if you're unable,
Notice what it's like to deny yourself.
Like clay in the hand of the potter,
So too are you in God's hands.
Surrender to him and let him mold you.
Allow yourself to be filled with the strength of God's healing love,
His healing power that heals all the broken,
Shattered parts,
All the parts that remember the unkindness of the world.
Have an understanding that those in the world who have brought you harm also have a wounded part.
Just observe.
Do not attach.
Notice the cord that ties you to those who wounded you.
Know that your spirit remains in bondage as long as you remain connected through your hurt,
Fear,
Pain,
Resentment,
And shame.
Just notice any faces attached to the wound.
Is there anything you need to know from them?
Ask it now and be open to what comes.
Is there something that you need for them to know?
Tell them now in whatever way you need to.
Allow yourself to see the obstacles which lie in the path of your growth.
Just notice.
Do not judge.
Do not attach.
Just observe.
As if you were observing a fine piece of art,
A precious child,
Or a beautiful forest that is before you.
If you need help,
Just ask God to reveal to you what you need to see.
Notice what unexpressed words there are in your consciousness.
Ask God the question you need an answer to today.
Your wounds and obstacles only have power over you if you attach to them.
Just know that the enemy only has power if you attach to your fear,
Shame,
Anger,
Sadness,
Guilt,
Jealousy,
Envy,
Pride,
And resentment.
As Jesus said when he was tempted,
Get behind me,
Satan.
Direct your fear,
Anger,
Shame,
Sadness,
Guilt,
And pain to get behind you.
Lay your wounds,
Your burdens,
And your concerns at the foot of the cross and be free.
Know that when you surrender your burdens,
They will be replaced with a peace that surpasses understanding.
You can have victory over your burdens,
The wounds,
The bondage.
In your heart,
Hold these words.
Father,
Into your hands I commit my spirit.
For God has not given you a spirit of fear,
But of power,
And of love,
And of sound mind.
Allow God to unlock the chains that bind you.
It was written that Jesus was sent to bind up the brokenhearted.
Allow yourself to invite Jesus in to heal you with his love and his healing touch.
Allow yourself to ask your heavenly Father what is needed in order for your continued safe growth to become the person he intends for you to be.
Wait upon the Lord as you listen for that still,
Small voice as he answers your petition.
You may not get your answer right now,
But be assured you will,
Because it is written,
Do not fear,
For the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God,
Your words were heard.
For I know the plans I have for you,
Says the Lord.
Plans of peace and not of evil,
Plans to prosper you,
Give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon me and go and pray to me,
And I will listen to you.
And you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all of your heart.
I will be found by you,
Says the Lord,
And I will bring you back from your captivity.
Allow yourself to sit in this promise,
Breathing it in and holding it in your heart,
Mind,
Body and soul.
Ask to receive a symbol of hope and recovery.
Look around your sacred place.
Is there something you can take with you to remind you of your journey and to remind you of God's commitment to you and your commitment to your recovery?
In a few minutes,
You'll gather yourself and walk back to the path which led you to this sacred place.
With the knowledge,
You may return here at any time you wish.
Being proud of what you were able to do on this journey,
Hear his voice.
Well done,
My true and faithful child.
As you walk back,
You become aware that God's hand supports the universe.
The universe supports the earth.
The earth supports the foundation of this building.
The foundation supports the floor.
The floor supports the chair.
And the chair supports your body.
Your body supports your soul.
Gently become aware of your breathing.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
And slowly open your eyes.

That was really beautiful. It would be wonderful to have more Christian based meditations like this. I’d sure like them and have many clients I assign meditations to as homework in addition to therapy. Many of these clients are Christians too. Thank you so much. God bless you❤️
