In a world that often feeds us an unreachable narrative of perfection, sometimes we lose touch with embracing the entirety of our humanity- especially the parts that we've deemed as unworthy or unlovable. This meditation will guide you into your wholeness with spoken word poetry and prompts to embrace all of you.

Hello there!

Welcome,

Welcome to today's meditation where we will focus on wholeness,

Receiving the entirety of ourselves,

Which some days is easier to do than others,

Right?

So begin by just feeling yourself arrive,

Whatever that means to you.

Maybe inviting a little bit more intention and presence into the current moment by noticing your breath and then within that noticing and awareness,

Maybe there are some shifts that start to occur within the state of your breathing.

It may feel grounding to breathe a little bit slower and steadier down into your low belly.

It may feel grounding to let out a couple of open mouth clearing exhales.

Start to notice your experience,

Your body,

Your breath.

Notice what is alive and awake within your current experience and journey as a human right now.

Whether that be joy or sadness or worry or fear or excitement or neutrality,

Maybe multiple of those at once.

Whatever is alive and awake for you right now,

Can you breathe deeper into what is?

I find that we often have these pieces and parts of ourselves that we are really eager and excited to present to the world.

The parts that we've deemed as worthy and lovable.

And then we have these other parts that we'd rather hide away.

We'd rather keep to ourselves.

So for me right now,

Those parts are greasy hair and lots of dishes in the sink.

Maybe that rings true for you today as well.

Maybe it's something different for you today that you find yourself wanting to push away.

But whatever you find yourself wanting to bury or shove to the side or to hide,

Can you welcome that in even more?

Can you be with and breathe with what is?

As these are the parts of ourselves that not only need the most love and grace,

But are also the parts that need to be talked about and shared with others to remind each other of our humanity.

That we are never alone in our felt experience as humans.

And let the wholeness of you be.

Today's meditation will be interwoven with some spoken word poetry.

And I'd like to invite you to bring your awareness to each body part that is mentioned in the poem.

And really stay present with your body and your experience.

Piece by piece,

I remember I am whole.

First,

My feet.

They turn brave enough to walk out the door into parts of myself that were waiting with patience and compassion.

Second,

My legs.

They grow strong like trunks of trees,

There to support both the lush and the decay of the leaves above them.

They embody stability and strength.

They stand tall,

Walk me towards rivers to pray,

Then bring me to my knees.

Next,

My hips.

They start to swing without shame,

They dance,

They twirl,

They trace circles in the wind with their curves.

They have a sunlit soiree.

Now,

My belly.

The center of my being.

It tells me I can breathe into what is.

That with this breath,

There are edges that can be softened.

There is solace to be found.

Next,

My lungs.

They drink in the ripeness of the air as the dust shakes off and turns to sugar.

Now,

My heart.

My sweet,

Sweet heart that has tumbled through the waves and still beats inside of me,

Red and juicy.

To have felt it all is the most whole we can be.

My heart,

She can keep some of the pain.

That's why the sun shines so bright after days of rain.

That's why the piece of chocolate cake tastes so damn good.

My heart,

She is here.

She is whole.

I'm sorry I forgot she always was.

My lips emerge as the doorway from my soul to the world.

And art flows out of them like snow melt after an impossible winter.

My cheeks,

They let rays of light kiss them and my nose takes in the promise of late spring lilac.

The hope of a new day.

My eyes,

They meet themselves in the mirror and see a woman who has built wild beauty upon destruction.

Peace by golden,

Unruly,

And beautiful peace.

I am whole.

By golden,

Unruly,

And beautiful peace.

I am whole.

Take a moment to be with your wholeness.

Every step,

Every breath that led you to where you are right here,

Right now.

The world needs more of you in your entirety.

Your body.

Your breath.

Your heart.

Your wholeness.

Thank you so much for joining me today.

I'll see you next time.
