Welcome back to Energize,
Engage,
Create.
I'm Tomek from Synergy Lab,
Sydney.
This program is designed to bring a new perspective to the things that you already know,
Rewire your brain and increase your vitality.
Our day-to-day well-being depends on many factors.
In the back of our heads we always try to figure out how to be happy,
How to avoid suffering.
Many are convinced that money is the answer,
Despite of the fact that the statistics show to the contrary.
Did you know that 70% of all lottery winners end up miserable and bankrupt within 3 to 5 years?
The secret of well-being is within us.
Consciously creating a state of well-being requires skills and it's not a matter of chance.
There are many books that address this topic in detail.
The aim of this episode is to give you a starting point for your personal exploration.
When it comes to my personal well-being,
I consider 6 pillars upon which I build my daily routine.
They are divided into physical and mental.
Under the category of the physical I put exercise,
Nutrition and sleep.
Mental holds awareness of my feelings and emotions,
Part of which is my daily meditation practice,
Cultivating personal relationships and social responsibility and professional growth that includes my career.
I invite you to look at each of those aspects in your own life.
What you may find is that you do very well with many of the above areas and also that one or two cause you a slight discomfort,
An indication that they may require some work.
Notice that all of them are interdependent and one flows from the other.
Only integrating and balancing all of the above bring us a true fulfillment.
Science helps us to understand better the physical aspect of our existence by studying structure and behavior of the natural world.
Consciousness taps into non-physical and tries to address our deep urge to go beyond the physical.
The fact of the matter is,
One cannot exist without the other in the same way that in-breath cannot exist without the out-breath,
Body without the mind.
In today's practice,
We connect both physical and spiritual elements in the practice of loving kindness.
Let us begin.
As always,
Begin by making yourself feel comfortable.
Rest in a dignified position,
With your back upright,
Not rigid,
Allowing unrestricted flow of your breath.
Your feet resting on the floor,
Connecting you to the earth.
Allow your eyes to close.
In the first few moments,
Give yourself permission to fully be present.
There is no other place you'd rather be.
There's nothing else for you to do right now but be fully present.
Now let's connect with our breath.
I will guide you through a series of deep,
Mindful breaths.
Breathe in deeply through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.
In,
Hold and out.
In,
Hold and out.
In,
Hold and out.
Breathe normally.
Relax.
As your body settles down,
Bring your awareness to this space around you.
This is your secret space.
Now tune in into the natural flow of your breathing.
For the purpose of this meditation,
I suggest you close your mouth with your tongue behind your teeth and breathe in and out through your nose.
This will allow you to connect with it a bit better.
Feel how with every in-breath,
The cold air tickles your nostrils.
As you tune in into the natural flow of your breath,
Notice how your chest expands and contracts.
See the rise and fall of your belly.
Your breath goes in and out,
Connecting body and mind,
Physical and non-physical.
Imagine that every in-breath represents the physical part of your being.
Your entire body,
The expansion,
The movement.
And your out-breath shows the way for the mental part,
The happiness,
Joy,
Contentment.
As you breathe in and breathe out,
You connect those two aspects,
Body and mind,
Physical and non-physical.
To help this process,
You may add a simple affirmation.
When you breathe in,
Say it to yourself,
Say it in your head,
May I be well.
When you breathe out,
May I be happy.
First affirmation connected with your in-breath represents the body,
May I be well.
And the out-breath represents the mental and non-physical part of your being,
May I be happy.
Within each cycle,
You connect deeper and deeper with the flow of life.
It may happen that you get distracted along the way.
Your mind may wonder,
And that's fine.
This is normal.
Remember,
You can always return.
You can always start fresh.
Breathe in,
May I be well,
Breathe out,
May I be happy.
As you continue breathing and integrating your body with your mind,
Notice that you also become deeply immersed within the environment around you.
You are no longer separate from it,
But you become a part of it.
You are no longer being just yourself,
But you are part of something much bigger.
You can rest,
You can relax,
You can surrender to what there is.
Your breath is simply a tool to connect you deeper and deeper.
Resting and rejuvenating,
You may release all your worries,
All your troubles.
Now,
It's time to return.
Use the method you have learned.
First,
Bring your awareness back to the body.
Wiggle your toes.
Move your fingers.
Gently,
Tilt your head to the right,
To the left.
Finally,
Let us take one deep conscious breath together in through your nose,
Hold and out through your mouth.
Open your eyes and welcome back.
How do you feel?
Although the formal part of the meditation is over,
You will continue to feel the positive effects throughout the day.
Feel free to share your experience in the comments section below.
Also,
For those of you who followed the practice of the mindful break described in the previous episodes,
You may add the body and mind breath to your routine.
It goes like that.
Set up timer in your phone for two hours from now.
When the alarm rings,
Stop for a moment,
Take a deep breath,
Connecting with your body and then exhale slowly and connect with your emotions.
Repeat the mindful breath two or three times throughout the day.
Then ask yourself how you feel.
Become aware of the energy inside of your chest.
Reset the timer and move on with your day.
Thank you very much for joining me today.
If you enjoyed this episode,
