Giving yourself permission is quite possibly the greatest gift you can give yourself. In giving yourself permission you are giving yourself authority over your own happiness, well-being, and decision making. In this meditation, we practice giving ourselves permission to "feel" whatever we are feeling and "be" whatever we are being in the present moment.

All right,

Let's feel the sitting bones.

Connect with our weight.

Allow our bodies to be heavy.

That means relaxing your legs so that your hips can really drop into the cushion.

Also,

That means finding the balance,

The center,

Doing the right and the left.

Between forward and backward.

Then,

As you find that natural center,

Take a moment to relax,

To soften.

And always remember this fundamental teaching in the practice of meditation.

We are not looking to change anything.

We are actually being curious to experience what is happening.

A very important understanding in the practice is that you do not want to change anything.

You do want to open to experience fully the now as it is.

Once you close your eyes and you feel yourself,

Ask yourself,

What's going on?

What's going on right here,

Right now?

With curiosity.

Free from judgment.

Just noticing.

I would say the fundamental practice in meditation is simply noticing what's there.

How's your jaw?

And how's your tongue?

Can you soften the muscles of the mouth just a little bit?

There's no tightness there.

Your tongue is relaxed.

And as you relax the mouth,

Also feel the breath moving in and out of the nostrils.

Where do you feel the breath this morning?

Is it going all the way down on the belly or is it on the chest?

As you feel your body inside,

What sensation stands out in your inner body?

It's always great to check your psychosomatic centers,

The navel,

The chest,

And the throat.

And as you check them,

Check them with loving awareness.

So remember that the practice meditation is not only for your own well-being,

But you do it for the well-being of all living beings.

What you do with your mind affects everything,

For the mind is one with everything.

See your efforts as a loving service to yourself and the world at large.

As you tap into your body,

As you sense your psychosomatic centers,

And as you sense into your body,

Ask yourself,

What part of my body feels like it's holding something?

What part of my body wants to let go?

And just notice that area.

Notice the sensations.

And that is the most loving action you can do with yourself,

Is just being there for yourself.

Noticing what's arising.

And as you notice more and more the physical sensations in your body,

You'll start noticing the emotional body.

You might notice which of the three psychosomatic centers is more active.

Bring your awareness there.

And as you exhale,

Think of releasing,

Releasing any burden.

And also releasing any reaction to that burden,

How we react.

Maybe out of fear.

Or out of frustration.

And to release,

The only thing we need to do is to allow,

Allow for the spontaneous release as we really feel what's happening.

And as we allow,

We allow for the spontaneous release.

As we really feel what's happening.

Also,

A great practice is to give yourself permission to be where you are.

It is okay to feel,

And you can add up whatever you're feeling this morning.

It's okay in this.

It is okay to be whatever you're being.

And allow myself to be just where I am at.

And I remember to embrace myself just as I am.

Notice how your whole system responds to that love.

God is unconditional love.

And as you move towards love,

You're moving towards God.

Another powerful phrase is,

I forgive myself for such and such thing.

I forgive a person.

Even sometimes I forgive life.

It is okay to feel what I feel.

And it is okay to just let it be.

Not have to fix it.

Not have to solve it.

Just embrace whatever is arising.

And then finally,

It is perfect.

This is perfect.

There is perfection in God's manifestation.

I embrace life as it is.

I embrace myself as I am.

I embrace others as they are.

And feel the quality of love.

I am love.

I am this loving being.

I care.

I feel.

I am.
