One of the most important aspects of successful meditation practice is self-love, compassion, and gentleness with yourself. Gentleness is the best way to release fear and open trust in the flow of life. In this meditation, we bring alive this quality of the heart.

So let's close our eyes and hold the idea of gentleness.

Whatever evokes in you the word gentleness.

What images,

Feelings,

Memories,

Gentleness brings in your mind.

Somebody's gentle actions towards you,

The gentleness of nature.

And connect with that energy towards your own self.

What would it mean to be gentle with yourself right here,

Right now?

What area of your body needs gentleness?

Can you open up to receive your own gentleness?

Your own compassion?

Can you soften?

And as you soften,

Notice that there's an area of your body that does not soften,

That maybe remains slightly tense or tight.

Connecting with your physical body.

Notice that there's that area.

Something you need to let go,

Something you need to accept,

To release.

Notice if there's any form of resistance or fear.

Some form of aversion or attachment.

How's the breath flowing?

Is it flowing at ease?

Just go a little deeper into this scanning of yourself.

Feel your belly area.

How that digestive area feels.

Shining the gentle rays of your awareness into your stomach,

Intestines.

And then how does the chest feel?

How does the shoulders and neck feel?

In your jaw,

Do you tend to hold tension in your jaw?

Or in your eyes?

Or in your eyebrows?

When you feel your face muscles in your head,

What stands out?

Notice if there's an area of your body that you tend to tighten up again and again,

Where it's hard for you to just let go.

And bring awareness there.

What do I need to let go?

And then comparing your psychosomatic centers,

Chest,

The belly,

The throat.

Notice which one of the three is more active.

You feel more sensation.

Subtle form of tightness in the energy body.

You could ask yourself again,

What am I holding on to?

What do I need to let go?

Release,

Trust,

Accept.

You become more intimate with that center of energy,

Whichever one is more active.

What do you really feel?

And can you hold the sensation in your awareness,

Lovingly?

This gentle awareness.

Not wanting to make anything go away.

Not wanting to change anything.

Just curious in your own experience.

Allowing everything to be as it is.

What happens as you focus?

With a gentle awareness.

Allowing everything to be as it is.

The bell is invited.
