What would it mean to see things as they truly are? Is it even possible to do so? Thomas draws from an ancient Buddhist verse to explore this Mystery in this episode. The Prajnaparamita Sutra describes the “Wisdom Mother” continuing to “instruct her enlightened children about the true nature of What is.” Take a breath, relax the body, open the Heart, and explore this practice of “Perfect Wisdom” with us.

It speak,

) A reading from the Prajna Paramita Sutra.

Through their selfless gratitude and thankfulness,

The Wisdom Mother continues to instruct her enlightened children about the true nature of what is.

Through their selfless gratitude and thankfulness,

The Wisdom Mother continues to instruct her enlightened children about the true nature of what is.

So just settle in.

Do nothing special.

Don't try to meditate.

If you catch yourself trying to get somewhere or accomplish something through this practice,

Just notice that very natural habit energy and practice relaxing it.

Practice relaxing the drivenness,

The need to be somewhere else,

To be someone else.

Especially the incessant drive to become a better version of yourself.

You can just let that go for a moment.

And we can give ourselves to the timeless poetry of this verse,

Relaxing in the arms of the Wisdom Mother,

The Mother of the Buddhas,

The perfection of wisdom and compassion,

Giving herself completely to us in this moment,

All of manifestation being an expression of herself.

And we are this same self,

The perfection of wisdom and compassion.

We are extensions of this wisdom,

The children of the Mother.

So continue to breathe and relax and soften,

Especially softening around the heart,

Letting the heart of stone become a heart of flesh,

Sensitive,

Feeling,

Responsive.

And as much as you can,

As much as you're willing in this moment,

You can just open up all of your heart to all of the joy,

All of the sorrow,

And all of creation that gushes forth in this moment,

Offering itself so fully.

Just allow yourself to feel the vastness,

The boundlessness of this giving.

And the vastness,

The boundlessness of this giving completely dwarfs the personality,

The personality we all have with its likes,

Its dislikes,

Its preferences.

This giving,

This offering,

This generosity is larger than life itself.

And just let it all into your heart,

Let it all move you and move through you,

Move as you.

This now,

This now moment is so full,

It's too full for words.

Any words we speak about it are just added to the fullness of it all.

And when we allow this fullness deeply into our awareness,

When we open up to the generosity,

The inherent givingness of this moment,

It's the most natural thing in the world to feel gratitude in our hearts.

Not gratitude because life is going exactly how the ego,

The personality would like it to be going.

In fact,

Life is often not going exactly that way.

But a more fundamental gratitude,

We could say a gratitude for the simple feeling of being,

Beingness itself so full,

Too full to speak of,

We just let it deeply into our hearts.

And we naturally feel a gratitude to be in exchange with this infinity.

Don't try to feel gratitude as a striving meditator trying to practice meditation.

That has its merit,

But rather the invitation is to relax so fully that the fullness of this now moment naturally fills you and you discover that your essential nature is one of selfless gratitude.

In other words,

You don't feel gratitude so much as realize that you are gratitude.

And every time we receive the generosity of this moment,

The great gesture of the perfection of wisdom,

Giving of itself so fully,

Our hearts blossom in gratitude.

And in this way,

The wisdom mother,

The mother of the Buddhas,

Reveals to us reveals to us the true nature of who we are and what actually is.
