Jaw Release This is an 11-minute practice to help you release and relax tension held in your jaw area. I originally recorded this track, which helps visually demonstrate the technique. Simply open your mouth and relax your bottom jaw down towards the floor, allowing the breath to flow in and out through an open mouth. Welcome in.

Today we have two rounds of breath work that will help release jaw tension.

We'll be breathing in and out of the mouth with the jaw fully open and fully relaxed.

It will sound something like this.

Note that the inhales will sound very similar to the exhales on this one.

And then we'll finish each round with a 4-8 rhythm in the nose and out the mouth.

Moving into a short breath hold after that.

Now relax your jaw and getting ready to breathe in.

3-2-1 In 2-3-4 Out 2-4 Continue to breathe with your mouth fully open and your jaw relaxed as much as possible.

At any point you may feel the need to yawn.

Let that happen.

This is your nervous system resetting as this practice is quite relaxing.

4-5-6-7-8 And in.

Keep it going.

A few more just like that.

And now a full breath in.

Hold.

And let it go.

Pausing here for just a short hold.

Now take a full breath in.

Relaxing your jaw once again.

3-2-1 In 2-3-4 Getting ready to move back into a 4-8 rhythm.

5-6-7-8 And in.

Keep it going.

A few more just like that.

And now a full breath in.

And let it go.

Pausing here for just a short hold.

Now take a full breath in.

Hold.

And let it go.

Allow the breath to return to its natural rhythm and spend a little bit of time in stillness.

I hope your jaw area is feeling a little softer after that practice.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

And until next time,

Breathe well.

Perfect— it’s feeling very grounding and energizing to wake up with your breathwork— insomnia can make me groggy in the morning, and you are helping! Deep gratitude ✨🙏🏼✨

That was so helpful. I had mouth surgery yesterday and my jaw is sore! Thank you 😊
