Hello,

This is Robert John Hadfield.

Thank you for joining me and welcome to Thick and Mystic.

The discussions and meditations I produce are focused primarily on nurturing a mindset of change.

A thick and mystic moment,

As I call it,

Is that instant when the physical or tangible parts of our life align with the spiritual or mental components,

Leading to lasting change.

And I hope that this time together will either create or lead to a thick and mystic moment in your own life.

One of the most important steps in creating lasting change is simply making peace with the past.

So please find a comfortable position,

Whatever that looks like for you,

And allow your body to sink into a state of relaxation.

Take a moment,

Adjust your posture,

Ensuring that your spine is straight yet relaxed.

Soften your gaze or close your eyes,

Whichever feels most soothing for you.

Take a deep breath in and feel the air as it fills your lungs and exhale slowly.

Imagine as you exhale the tension and stress,

Any that might be lingering within you,

Leaves your body with your breath.

Take a moment and acknowledge the weight that the past may hold upon your heart and mind.

And recognize that it is in this present moment that you have the power to transcend its influence and find peace.

So as you relax,

Bring your attention to the physical,

To your physical body.

Notice any areas of tension,

Discomfort,

And allow your breath to gently soften and feel as you dissolve those sensations.

Now imagine a warm,

Comforting light surrounding your body.

You've felt that before,

Enveloping you in a cozy,

Warm,

And relaxing environment.

Now imagine a warm,

Comforting light enveloping you in a cocoon of tranquility.

Feel the light gently easing away any physical discomfort as though you were being embraced.

Now,

Let's turn our attention inward to the realm of emotions and memories.

Picture yourself standing on the shore of a calm and serene ocean.

Now,

Hear the sounds,

The rhythm of the waves.

Feel the sand beneath your feet as it pushes up through your toes,

Grounding you in the present moment.

Observe the ebb and the flow of the waves,

Each one carrying with it a fragment of your past.

With each wave that approaches,

Visualize it carrying away any burdens or regrets that you may be holding onto.

Release them to the vast expanse of the ocean,

Release them to the vast expanse of the ocean,

Allowing the healing waters to cleanse and purify your spirit.

And as the waves retreat,

Feel that sense of lightness and freedom as a weight being lifted.

Now,

Envision a sunset over that ocean,

The hues of gold and pink as only a sunset can create.

As the sun begins to sink below the horizon,

It reminds you of the passage of time.

Imagine it casting warm and gentle light upon both your heart and mind.

This light represents acceptance and forgiveness.

Both of them are gifts you are giving to yourself.

Bring to mind any specific events or moments from the past that continue to impact you.

They continue to linger in your thoughts.

You can see them appearing before you as ethereal images floating in the air.

And as you observe each image,

Offer to yourself compassion and understanding.

Recognize that you did the best you could with the knowledge and resources that were available to you at the time.

Take a deep breath in,

And as you exhale,

Release any feelings of guilt,

Shame,

Resentment,

And allow those feelings to dissolve into the atmosphere.

The energy of each of them dissipating like wisps of smoke.

Embrace the truth that you are not defined by your past,

But by the person you have become from the lessons you learned.

Now,

Focus on your breath.

Just like those waves,

Feel the rhythm of inhalation and exhalation and exhalation grounding you in this present moment.

With each breath,

Inhale peace and exhale the residue of the past.

Know that you have the power to create a new narrative,

A new story for yourself rooted in self-compassion,

Forgiveness,

And growth.

Embrace and enjoy the freedom that comes with letting go of what no longer serves you.

And make a choice right now to live fully in the present.

When you're ready,

Gently bring your awareness back to your physical surroundings.

Wiggle your fingers and toes,

Gradually allowing your body to awaken.

And be grateful for that.

Take a moment to express gratitude for this time of reflection and healing.

Remember,

My dear friend,

That the past is a story we carry within us,

But it doesn't need to define our future.

Embrace forgiveness and self-compassion as you navigate your journey.

And as you do so,

May you find peace.
