So this is a recording for any ladies who are in the last few weeks of the pregnancy,

The time where you're ready to have your baby but not quite sure,

Wanting things to start but also afraid of what might happen when they do.

Not sure what the doctor will say when you go for your appointment,

What they might suggest,

What might happen.

So find yourself a comfortable place with minimal distraction and settle down and just prepare yourself to go into a nice deep relaxation.

Make sure you're comfortable and allow your eyes to close.

And all I want you to do is just take a nice deep breath and hold it and then slowly let it go.

That's it.

Just allow yourself to feel comfortable.

And then take another breath and hold it.

And this time when you breathe out let go of all the tension in your shoulders and in your arms.

That's it.

And now take another deep breath and hold it.

And as you let it go this time totally relax.

Allow your body to go completely loose and limp.

Just let it go of any tension.

And then resume breathing normally.

And I wonder if you could focus on your breathing.

Just become aware of it.

How you breathe in and then breathe out.

And notice that space of nothingness between each in-breath and each out-breath.

As you breathe in there's a moment of silence as the breath changes and turns and you breathe out.

A moment of nothingness.

For the next few breaths just focus on that beautiful in-breath noticing where you feel it when you breathe in.

The feeling of breath in your body.

Notice that moments of nothingness as the breath turns.

And with every breath out just wonder how relaxed you can become.

With each breath out think about how your arms and your legs could get so heavy,

So relaxed.

And how comforting that weight could be.

And with each breath your arms and legs and shoulders and muscles all begin to feel completely relaxed.

Do you become aware of being held safely and securely comfortably in the chair or on the bed or wherever you're sitting or lying.

And you're in that chair or that bed just breathing gently listening to my voice and drifting down.

Each breath is allowing you to relax more and more.

Just allowing you to drift away.

And you might wonder what it would be like to count each breath as you relax.

And how each breath can make you more relaxed.

And just the thought of breathing and relaxing makes you feel as if you're sinking down even deeper.

Ten,

Nine,

Going down deeper.

Eight.

And each breath makes you feel more relaxed.

Seven.

And with each breath you count to feel yourself going deeper and deeper.

More and more relaxed.

Six,

Down again.

Five,

Breathing gently.

Letting go.

Four,

Down.

And down,

Deeper and deeper.

Three.

More at ease.

And two.

Down.

And one.

Completely relaxed.

Except that there's no end to the amount that we can relax.

There's no end to the amount of relaxation that you can feel in your body.

So as you continue to breathe,

Just notice that with every breath you go even deeper.

You find yourself becoming even more loose,

Limp and relaxed.

Every muscle,

Every nerve,

Every fiber in your body just letting go of tension.

Just listening to my voice and allowing yourself to drift off.

Completely relaxed,

Allowing your entire body to rest and relax.

And as you go even deeper,

All distractions just seem to disappear.

And I want you to concentrate on your breathing.

Breathing in pure relaxation and exhaling all the tension in your body.

Just feel all the tension leaving the chest area as you exhale.

Feel yourself relaxing even deeper with each and every breath.

And your breathing is so regular,

Becoming softer,

Slower,

Deeper,

Effortless as you relax more and more.

And your entire body is completely,

Totally relaxing as you drift even deeper down with each and every breath.

And you feel a warm,

Wonderful sense of relaxation.

The deeper you go.

And you may have noticed that some areas of your body are more easy to relax.

And concentrating on the areas of the body that you find to be the most comfortable,

Very relaxed and concentrating on these areas now.

You're recognizing and realizing what there is about those areas that makes you so comfortable and so very relaxed.

And feeling all the sensations in those areas,

The most relaxed and comfortable parts of your body.

Just noticing that.

Noticing where you feel that relaxation.

As you notice,

You allow the feeling and the comforting sensations of the most relaxed areas of your body begin to spread.

As this marvelous,

Warm,

Wonderful feeling of relaxation spreads to other parts of your body.

Just notice how the feeling of relaxation becomes stronger.

And the relaxation spreads out beyond those areas.

Continuing to spread to all the parts of your body.

All the parts of the body that you decide to relax deeper and deeper.

And even deeper.

Twice as relaxed.

And you can picture and imagine that relaxation spreading like the rays of the sun.

Gently warming and relaxing like the rings of water spreading from a pebble tossed into a gentle pond.

The relaxation spreading to every muscle.

And you're enjoying this tranquil and peaceful relaxation.

Relaxation is difficult in the last weeks of pregnancy.

But with every passing moment this feeling of deep tranquility and comforting relaxation becomes stronger.

Every part of your body knows and enjoys this wonderful sensation.

And this wonderful feeling now goes out beyond the physical confines of your body.

And you feel it.

Notice it.

Almost look at it spreading out beyond your skin.

To form a protective shield around you.

And you can let this feeling spread far,

Far beyond your physical body.

Or you can choose to keep it close like a second skin.

But this protective bubble or shield is your own creation.

And you can do with it what you wish.

You can use this shield in any way you want to.

The uses of this protective shield are limitless.

It can act as a filter.

To filter out feelings or things going on around you.

Filtering situations that are uncomfortable.

Filtering situations that you're uncertain about.

And allowing you to let in those feelings you wish to let in and experience.

And it can act as an amplifier to help you understand people.

And to help people understand you.

This protective bubble can be invisible or visible.

To a few people or as many people as you'd want it to be.

You are using this protective shield any way you choose to use it.

And that's okay.

Because it's your creation.

This shield is your own.

And you're able to use this protective shield and enjoy the comfort in every part of your body.

Practicing and using it.

Allowing it to spread.

Allowing it to go beyond the confines of your physical body.

And experiment with it.

Make it as large as you like.

Using it as a transport to another place or time and the more you use it the stronger it becomes.

And allowing this protective shield to just put you in said place where you feel completely at ease and at peace.

Ready to go into labour.

Ready to meet your baby.

This feeling of deep relaxation where your subconscious mind is open and receptive to any suggestions that it's about to receive.

Knowing that you have this protective shield around you.

Knowing that you know how to relax.

And fast forwarding in time.

Fast forwarding in time to the moment where you feel the subtle changes physically,

Mentally and emotionally in your body.

Indicating to you that it's time for your baby to be born.

Feeling that deep connection that you have with your baby and your baby just gently nudging.

Gentle pressure.

Gentle aches in the back.

Gentle aches in the lower belly.

Just subtle movements.

Little signs that your baby is letting you know it's time to be born.

And you know how to relax.

So when your labour begins,

When each contraction is over,

You're able to double your level of relaxation.

You're able to use the time between every contraction to totally enjoy your rest.

To go deep into that state of absolute relaxation.

Breathing out and going deeper and deeper to the same feeling that you're experiencing right now.

Knowing that you've created that shield of protection around you.

And you make the most of this feeling of relaxation right now.

Because once your baby is born,

You'll welcome every moment of rest and relaxation.

And when you're in labour,

Each contraction will make itself known to you.

And you use all the methods that you've learned and practiced so well.

Breathing deeply,

Safely,

Going with the flow.

Allowing your body to do what it naturally knows how to do.

Connecting to the new life inside of you.

Knowing that it's time for you and your baby to meet the moment you've been longing for.

For so long and in a short while,

You'll hold your baby in your arms.

And the love that you feel for your newborn will be so amazing,

So overwhelming.

And you're ready to greet and meet your newborn with a relaxed body and mind.

And so you allow every contraction,

Every sensation,

Every movement in your body to do what it's meant to do.

You go with the flow.

You think of each one as a step nearer to holding your baby.

Knowing that each sensation that you experience is a step closer,

A moment closer to feeling your body's baby's small body.

Big skin,

Downy hair,

Tiny fingers and toes,

Little lips and nose.

And you think about how you'll be teaching your baby from the moment it's born,

From the moment it emerges into this new bright world.

Imagining the life with you and your partner and your baby.

Let your mind wander,

Speculating,

Thinking,

Imagining what may or may not happen in future years and when your body is ready and only when it's ready,

You experience your next contraction,

You experience those sensations,

But you're so absorbed in your thoughts that you go with the flow.

You let it ride,

You let it flow like a wave in an ocean,

Back and forth,

To and fro.

You just experience it,

Let it go,

Let it flow,

Knowing it will be over soon and you can go back to your inner mind,

Relaxing your body and allowing the wonderful gift of imagination to work for you.

And knowing that those contractions may go on for days,

For hours,

But time is irrelevant because you're so connected.

You're connected to your baby,

You're connected to your body and you go with the flow and you let go of time.

And hours feel like minutes and minutes feel like seconds.

And the only thing that matters is meeting your baby and going with the flow and breathing through contractions and in between those spaces going into this deep,

Deep,

Deep,

Deep sense of relaxation,

Letting go of tension in every muscle,

Every nerve,

Every fiber.

And when you feel that movement moving through you like a wave,

The power of your body working to move your baby out and you and your baby moving and working together and every muscle working together in harmony.

And you go with the flow and you breathe with it and you allow it to happen.

And it's intense,

But you're stronger than you ever thought you were and you dig deeper for those resources you never knew you had and you dig deeper and you dig deeper.

Because you know that in every sensation that you experience there's always time to rest and recover,

Relax,

Release and let go.

And you go with the flow because it's almost time for you and your baby to meet.

And in these last weeks before you do meet your baby,

Just imagine your baby having a whirl of a time swimming inside your belly enjoying the waters of your amniotic fluid.

Life is a playground in your belly,

Imagine your baby swinging round about swimming,

Learning,

Listening from the inside.

But you know that your baby is almost too big for that space and your baby instinctively knows that it's not time to come out and to be counted to meet its mom and dad.

And so your baby has one last play in its little playground.

And in the next few days you're going to tune in to your baby's play area and you're going to imagine what your baby looks like and feels like.

And imagine how it must seem to your unborn baby with no room to do more somersaults or swim anymore.

Just the need to find a way to leave and look for a more comfortable place to live.

And your baby notices there's a long dark slide with a light at the end of it.

Is this the way it should go?

Your baby has been putting this last venture off until now and it's ready to leave the safety of your belly and your womb and embark on this last unborn venture,

The slide into brightness,

Light and meeting you.

And when you're ready to give birth,

Imagine your baby at the top of the slide,

Being totally daring and brave,

Going down head first.

Your baby is a little apprehensive.

Your baby needs a little push now and again.

And you're so tuned in to your baby and you're so in the flow that whenever you feel the urge to push,

You do it.

You breathe and you let go and if you feel the urge to push,

You push as hard as you can.

And you help your baby to move down,

Down,

Down.

Just breathing,

Effortlessly moving,

Enjoying this moment,

This process,

Feeling the excitement and anticipation of meeting your baby for the first time.

Pushing where you need.

Feeling your baby moving down,

Shoulders parallel to little body but the elbow is protecting just enough to ensure they'll be able to have a safe landing.

One more push,

One more push.

And your baby's head is emerging.

And you take a deep breath and again your last push,

You help your baby to come out from that slide and you relax,

Knowing that there is someone there to catch your newborn baby even before it reaches the bottom.

And you hear the cries your baby emerges from your body.

You feel the relief in your body.

You feel the love in your heart.

You feel that sense of release.

You feel that sense of achievement.

You feel that sense of happiness.

You feel your baby in your arms.

And throughout the soul you've got that protective shield around you and you can use that shield however you want and you'll find that every night when you go to sleep you'll go through this process in your mind until it's so fully ingrained in your subconscious that you will know almost exactly how your birth will be.

And each time you hear my voice these suggestions will grow stronger and more powerful as they prepare you for your easy childbirth experience.

Allow these thoughts,

Allow these images to settle themselves into your mind,

Create your own story.

Allow my words to let you create your own story.

Feel that beautiful shield of protective energy around your body as close or as far out from your skin,

From your body as what you want.

And in a moment I'm going to count from one to five and at the count of five you'll feel yourself energized,

Ready to open your eyes,

Fully alert and refreshed and ready to allow these suggestions to work for you.

Taking a deep breath,

One,

Two,

Three,

Coming back slowly,

Four,

Feel those eyelids just beginning to flicker.

And five,

Taking a nice deep breath,

Opening those eyes wide awake,

Your mind and your body just returning to normality and going against around for the rest of your day.

And if you've fallen asleep during this relaxation that's absolutely fine because these words will still do their work.

Allow yourself to let those words sink deep into your subconscious.

Allow your subconscious to show you to be creative and to reassure you that you've got this.
