This is a short meditation to listen to when you've just found out that you're pregnant.
Finding out that you're pregnant is exciting,
Exhilarating,
But it brings a whole set of anxieties if it's the first time.
It's normal to go straight to the internet and do a couple of searches to make sure that you can find the best information to make sure that you can get the best care,
But very often these searches lead you to stories that inspire fear rather than joy.
The purpose of this meditation is to take you into a place of deep trust,
To connect you with your body and the miracle of birth,
The miracle of the baby that's growing inside of you.
As always,
Find a time and place with minimal distraction and make yourself comfortable.
Use the steady rhythm of your breath to bring you to a place of feeling centered and calm.
Allow your breath to bring awareness to the way that you're feeling physically and just take a few moments to notice the breath,
Zone in on the area around the nostrils as you breathe gently in.
Notice the rise of the chest.
Allow the breath to extend all the way down to the belly and as you exhale,
Releasing any tension,
Releasing any anxiety,
Releasing any thoughts that might get in the way of being able to relax,
Release,
And enjoy this meditation,
This meditation that is designed to guide you to a place of feeling deeply connected to your body and your baby.
Allow the out-breath to relax you,
Just dropping down,
Dropping down into your center,
Dropping down into your body.
If you're sitting,
Just gently rubbing the feet on the floor,
Grounding yourself.
If you're lying,
Just become aware of all the areas of your body that are touching the mattress or the earth or the bed.
And then placing one hand on your belly and the other hand over your chest and allow yourself to become aware of the beating of your heart under your hand,
The steady rhythm.
And as you feel the steady rhythm,
Allow yourself to hear it with your hand over your chest,
Allowing yourself to feel the gentle rise and fall of every breath in and every breath out.
Every breath nurturing your body and now,
Now that you're pregnant,
Every breath nurturing your baby.
Every moment and every breath that you take,
Your body is working to nurture the baby that is growing within.
In this moment,
Your body is working hard.
At this very moment,
Every cell in your body is working towards nurturing,
Protecting and growing the baby inside your belly.
And just as before you were pregnant,
When your period happened every month without any bidding or instruction from you,
So will your pregnancy proceed.
Your body is perfectly designed to hold and carry and nurture your pregnancy.
All your hormones,
All your systems working together in harmony and whether or not your cycle was regular or irregular,
Whether or not you felt pregnant naturally or required some assistance with fertility treatment.
At some stage in the last few weeks or months,
All systems came together and pregnancy occurred.
A miracle occurred in your body and with one hand on your heart and the other on your belly,
Just feel the connection between the heart and the womb.
Every beat of your heart nurturing the pregnancy.
A placenta developing embedded into your womb and nurturing your baby.
Every beat of your heart pumping fresh oxygenated blood to the womb around your body,
Drawing nutrients and oxygen.
Every breath nurturing your body,
Your baby.
And there's nothing more that you need to do in the days and weeks and months ahead,
But stay connected and focused with deep awareness and presence to the miracle that is occurring in your body,
Nurturing your body with healthy,
Nutritious food.
Responding to your inner knowing as your body guides you as to what you need to do.
Tune into your intuition,
Tune into your inner knowing.
There are a lot of distractions in the 21st century,
A lot of information,
A lot of information guiding you to become fearful,
Apprehensive,
Afraid.
Don't allow this to shut you down to the joy and the miracle that is occurring within your body.
And when you read something that makes you afraid,
Tune into your intuition,
Tune into your inner knowing,
Notice where you feel that,
Notice if it feels true for you.
Are you guided towards that information or away from it?
Does it feel true for you?
Does it feel like fear mongering?
How do you feel?
Notice what you feel physically and notice where you feel it.
And in the next weeks and months,
You'll notice new and strange sensations.
Dull aches and sharp pains,
Twinges,
Pulling.
All of them new,
All of them strange and all of them potentially alarming.
Before being alarmed,
Tune in.
Tune in and notice where you feel it.
How does it feel?
Does it feel inherently good?
Part of your pregnancy?
Associated with all the huge changes that are taking place?
Or is it nudging you to seek a second opinion?
Check it out.
Can you trust these sensations?
Can you trust these feelings?
Can you trust your inner knowing?
Test it out,
Practice.
And when you're given advice or instructions that don't sit well,
Notice where you feel it,
Notice how you respond.
Use it as an opportunity to learn more.
Make informed decisions.
Practice experiencing your pregnancy from the inside out rather than the other way around.
Focus on the internal rather than the external.
Notice how when you change the internal,
The external looks different.
Notice now that you're pregnant how many other pregnant women you've noticed and see around you every day.
How many adverts you see for pregnancy and babies.
How your awareness is finally tuned to see and discover and notice pregnancy and babies and bumps.
Open your awareness in the same way to receive the right information,
The right guidance,
The right support.
Create a team around you.
A team that believe in you and your pregnancy.
That trust you,
That trust your pregnancy,
That trust your inner knowing.
Enjoy every moment.
Enjoy every stage.
Notice the changes in your body.
Allow yourself to accept the discomforts associated with some of those changes.
So many discomforts of pregnancy reassuring you that everything is actually okay.
A little bit of nausea,
Lower back ache,
Tiredness.
All of them indications that the pregnancy is progressing well.
So many more hormones in your body at higher levels than you've ever experienced before.
And all of those hormones and systems working well to nurture and grow your baby.
And noticing how as your body gets bigger,
Expanding to accommodate the growth of your belly and your baby.
How you experience those changes.
Stay present with them.
Greet them with acceptance and gratitude.
And allowing them to affirm to you that your body knows exactly how to do it.
Your body knows how to grow your baby.
Your body does it without any direction or instruction from you.
And just as your body is able to grow and nurture your pregnancy without any instruction or direction from you.
It is able to give birth to your baby.
Your body knows how to do this.
You know how to do this.
You may think you don't know because you've never done it before.
But there's an inherent wisdom in you.
Wisdom passed down through the ages.
Tune into it.
Connect with it.
Open yourself to that wisdom.
Allow yourself,
Open yourself to accept the nature of pregnancy.
How completely natural and in many ways easy it is.
It just happens every day.
Your body grows and supports your pregnancy.
And staying in awareness with that.
Practice staying in the present moment of your pregnancy.
Not projecting forward to what you might be thinking,
Feeling or experiencing.
One or two weeks or even months ahead.
But just enjoying exactly what you're experiencing in this moment.
Today.
Knowing that tomorrow and another moment and next week and another moment things will be different.
And when your baby is born,
Your baby will be teaching you the lesson of being present.
Because for your baby there is only the present moment.
Start practicing now.
Take time out every day.
Hand on heart and hand on belly to feel that connection.
To deepen your own connection with your baby.
Tuning in,
Feeling,
Noticing.
Noticing the changes in your body.
And greeting them with deep acceptance and gratitude.
And as we end this meditation.
Taking a moment to connect with every other woman around the world.
Experiencing similar thoughts,
Feelings and emotions as you right now.
As you experience your pregnancy.
Thank you for watching.
