This is the remembering your good heart meditation.
This meditation can be done seated comfortably in a chair.
Your back more or less upright and not slouching.
Just allowing the mind to feel the release of the body into the chair and into the feet on the floor.
Really trying to pay attention to what it feels like to just allow the chair and the feet on the floor to fully support us.
And there's the breath.
Just moving in and out the body as we breathe.
Seeing if you can feel the breath as it moves in the heart of the body,
The chest area.
Can you feel the subtle or not so subtle lifting and lowering of the chest and the rib cage and the lungs as we breathe?
Asking the mind to just pay full attention to the sensations in the heart of the body just as we breathe.
In this way we're actually practicing gathering our awareness into the heart of the body.
Getting out of the head a little bit and into the heart.
Whatever that feels like to you.
Spending another minute or so more in this practice of gathering our awareness into the heart of the body.
Breathing from the heart.
Feeling from the heart.
Just mixing the mind with whatever it is you're feeling in the heart as you breathe.
And now just imagining someone you love here with you now.
It can be a child or a dear friend or a parent.
Anyone that you love.
Their presence beside you now.
And fully feeling the love you have for them in the heart of the body.
If it helps to imagine their face or some memory you have with them.
Really letting yourself go there.
Using your imagination to make their presence as real to you now as possible.
What it felt like to hold your child for the first time or sharing the deep companionship of a friend.
Whatever it is,
Just really allowing your mind to go there to feel the love you have for them.
Seeing their face.
Feeling their spirit with you now.
And then gathering your awareness into the feelings now arising in the heart of the body.
Cultivating an awareness of this movement of heart and mind.
Sometimes it can help us to feel the love we have for others.
If we gently remind ourselves that we won't have them in our lives forever.
Children grow and move their own directions.
Parents or friends may pass away.
The future is uncertain for us all.
And so becoming certain in the love we have for others.
Allowing the heart and mind to swell with this feeling.
Cherishing the love we have for others right here,
Right now,
As it's arising in the heart of the body.
To feel this love,
Some of you may feel like crying.
Some like smiling.
All responses are welcome in the space of our meditation.
Using our memories,
Our imagination,
To really awaken this feeling of love as best we can.
This love we have for others is what makes our heart feel good.
And this is how we practice remembering our good heart.
Fully supported by the breath.
Allowing the mind to just rest and release into the support of the breath and of our good heart.
Just resting in the nourishment of feeling.
The world moving as it does all around us.
The breezes in the trees.
Or the sound of traffic off in the distance.
Or the sounds of the people around us.
Or perhaps a silence around us now.
A sense of the air on the skin.
Beginning to feel the world around us now.
While still staying connected to our good heart.
Feeling the world around us from the heart of the body.
And whenever you're ready,
Just opening the eyes and now taking in the world around you.
While still staying connected to the sensations in the heart of the body.
Allowing these sensations to ground you.
And realizing that this grounding in the heart of the body is available to you at any time.
It just takes a little remembering.
And then as the meditation ends,
Seeing if you can move back into your world,
Staying connected and grounded in your good heart.
Thank you for watching!
