Our inner child.
We are gently delivered into the velvety smoothness of this world as pure love.
And this remains unchanged as we walk through our days until we shed the physical home for this love.
Our gracious generous bodies.
Our connection to this love is innate and automatic,
Which fuels our emotionality,
Wonder,
And unadulterated presence in the moment.
As children,
So long as we have a safe context to do so,
We have a strong connection to this emotional and tender softness of ourselves.
However,
Somewhere along the path of living a life,
Usually as we are faced with fear and danger,
We distance ourselves from our emotions,
From the wild magic of our beings.
As we age,
We tend to swap out those parts of ourselves that connected us to liveliness for a more mechanistic personality,
Fit for reward and belonging in our capitalistic culture.
Little by little,
We bury our humanity in hopes to feel safe under the covers of fear.
We feel safe under the covers of conformity.
We trade mystery for predictability,
Tension for comfort,
Emotions for logic,
Spontaneity for organization.
With each trade,
The connection with ourselves widens and a gap forms.
We wonder what happened to that young child of ourselves who experienced bliss,
Who cried equally for joy and despair,
Who lived from genuine desire instead of calculated movement.
We become accustomed to putting on clothes that aren't ours for parts in this life we wish we had not signed ourselves up to play.
Returning to this authenticity with ourselves,
Which can be called our inner child,
Our essential self,
Or our truth,
Is a return to the vibrancy of life.
We find this part of ourselves beyond the borders of order in the dense,
Messy thicket of our beings.
This part in each of us does not know how to pretend or please,
But only how to be true to its own nature.
Yes,
From our doorstep of manufactured and superficial living,
Our desires and emotions appear messy,
Chaotic,
And maybe even dangerous.
Yet,
The only real danger in this life is spending life's currency of time on everything other than what we long for.
Only when we step into our full,
Unabounded humanity,
Dropping the comforts of sanded edges and ironed out wrinkles,
Can we fully be in participation with this life.
Dear ones,
This uninhibited wildness of yourself may feel completely out of reach,
Yet you already have everything you need within you to be your most authentic,
Essential self.
You were born healed.
There is nothing to fix.
There is nothing to find.
You only need to return home to yourself.
You,
My love,
Your magic,
Your emotions,
Your joy,
Your vibrancy,
You have always been here.
You will always be here.
And just by remembering this truth,
You are exactly where you need to be.
