Hey,
I'm Cyrus.
Welcome to the meditation on dealing with difficult people and situations.
Have a seat.
Take a load off.
Close your eyes.
Find stillness in your body.
With your lower back scootched,
Your spine straight,
Your neck straight,
Your hands comfortable,
And your feet comfortable.
With your eyes closed and your body still,
Just take a deep,
Slow breath in through the nose and into the belly.
And exhale,
Let go of tension as you breathe out.
Start to breathe in deeper on this next one.
Breathe into the feet and the toes.
And exhale all the negative energy from your body.
Okay,
It probably wasn't as easy as exhaling all the negative energy in one breath,
But let's try a couple more.
Going in through the nose and once again letting go of tension out through the mouth.
And let's do two breath holds.
In through the nose,
Holding the breath at the top.
As you hold,
Ignore your thoughts and focus on the energy in your body.
And once again let go of the breath.
Let it fall out.
Doing great.
One final breath hold.
Breathe into the whole body.
Track the breath as it goes in through the nose,
Into all the fingers and toes.
Holding at the top,
Feeling the body and the room around you as you hold.
And now letting go slowly through the mouth.
Now embrace any relaxation that you might feel and start to allow your tongue to drop to the floor of your mouth.
The little muscles around your eyes releasing.
Staying alert in your mind as all your facial muscles release.
Your neck and shoulders subtly softening.
Your chest and stomach releasing any tension or self protection that it's holding at the front of the body.
The pelvic floor dropping into the support of the chair.
The legs and feet unclenching any tension.
The back muscles melting like hot butter.
The arms and hands softening,
Doing nothing except just chilling there.
Taking a slow effortless breath into the whole body and allowing yourself to relax on the exhalation.
Start to focus on the subtle buzz of energy in the body.
Allow your thoughts to be there but allow them to move to the background for a moment as you just let the buzz of energy and the breath come into the front of your awareness.
Holding the rhythm of the body and the breath in the front of your awareness for a few moments.
Going deeper into the energy of the body than you might have even expected to go.
Just feeling the depth and layers of vibrations and sensations in this moment.
And now from this place of being a little bit more grounded,
A little bit more aware of the moment,
Start to call to mind this challenging person or situation in your life.
Notice the body starting to perhaps already react.
And allow those sensations to come up.
Don't burn any energy holding them down.
Let them start to come up to the surface of the body even if they're unpleasant.
We want to stay with them so we can start to release some of the energy that's pent up behind our reaction to this person or situation.
And now that you're feeling what you feel,
Take a moment to acknowledge honestly how you feel to yourself.
So for example,
You might say,
Yes,
I'm scared about this situation or I'm angry at this person or I'm sad about what's going on.
Allow yourself to feel how you feel and remember it's perfectly safe and okay to feel how you feel.
Now just for the time being,
Let's start to ignore and let go of the story or narrative behind this situation or person.
Let's start to actively ignore it and just start to focus on the sensations in the body,
The energy behind the feeling.
Keep bringing the attention to the energy,
Stay with the energy in the body,
The sensations of heat or heaviness or whatever it is that you notice right now.
Don't judge,
Resist,
Try to change or try to escape this feeling.
That will only make it go on longer.
We want to fully surrender and allow the feeling to wash through us like a wave.
Ignore the thoughts,
Allow the feeling to wash through.
Staying with it fearlessly with presence for a couple more moments.
Notice how you're observing it as just a feeling.
It doesn't define you,
Your character,
It doesn't determine your course of action.
It's just a feeling,
An emotional reaction.
And from this place of having become aware and processed and felt some of this emotion,
Let's set a clear intention to let go of whatever's not serving us.
Whatever part of this energy doesn't need to be here,
Let's let it go.
And start to take some deep breaths.
Lead the body,
Breathing deeply in through the nose,
Into the belly and on the exhalation blow that energy out through the mouth.
Feel the energy releasing like an electrical current out through the body.
Keep taking deep breaths,
Keep allowing that energy to lift and evaporate with every single breath moving out of the body where it becomes absorbed and vanquished by endless space.
And as you breathe,
Notice how more lightness starts to flow through your body,
Perhaps more relaxation as you release the pent up energy that was stored in the body being pushed down.
Welcome in that lightness,
That flow,
That fresh energy that's replacing the stale energy.
Welcome in that feeling of relief and lightness.
And if any of that energy is still lingering,
That's okay as long as we stay with our intention to let it go,
It will tend to vacate the premises of its own volition,
So just staying present and in the rhythm of where we're going.
From this place,
Start to visualize and see yourself dealing with this situation or person that you've been dealing with.
And start to notice any judgment you've had towards yourself or the way you've been dealing with it.
Start to forgive yourself as much as you can for however you've been dealing with it.
See your own humanity,
See your own deep source energy,
Your soul,
Seeing past the patterns and habits and fear to that deep,
Courageous,
Loving core.
Breathing in this courageous,
Loving energy,
Letting go of fear with every exhalation.
And now start to visualize the person that's been challenging you or the other people in the situation that's been difficult.
And start to look past their surface,
Their patterns or habits,
The way they've been dealing with the situation or with you.
And start to extend them the same loving courtesy as you just did yourself.
Start to see past their surface and to their core source energy,
Their divine spark within.
It might be a little harder to see it in other people than it is for yourself,
But stay with it until you see that clearly in them.
And if you need or want to hold them within a container of forgiveness and compassion,
Just do so.
Hold that forgiveness and compassionate energy towards them in your mind.
See and feel how as we let go of these inner grievances towards others,
We become more pure in our energy,
We become more tapped in to that frequency of love and peace within ourselves.
And now from this place of having done the inner work of releasing some of the emotion and energy behind the way you felt about the situation or the person that was challenging you,
And you've forgiven yourself and perhaps the other person and seen through to the core energy of yourself and them.
Ask yourself from this place where my mind,
Spirit and body is more clear,
Is there some action that I still need to take?
Do I need to draw a firm boundary in some way?
Do I need to communicate in some way?
Do I need to take some course of action?
And what,
If anything,
Is that from this higher place that I've tapped into within myself?
And just taking a moment to make the commitment in your mind to taking that course of action if you choose,
To having the courage to do so for the highest good of yourself and others.
And now if there's some aspect of the situation or person that you want or need to accept as it is,
Take a moment to shift into that state of simply accepting it.
And now having worked through some of the emotions,
Having seen the deeper part of yourself and others,
Having forgiven and let go and accepted and opened up this space within yourself,
Begin to focus on your body and feel the space around you at the same time for just a few moments.
Letting go of thoughts and feeling your body melt into its connection to the space around you,
Becoming one and connecting body and space awareness.
Letting go and unraveling of anything that's still tangled up in your mind,
Letting go and going deeper into body and space for a few final moments of stillness and deep awareness.
Letting go and feeling your body melt into its connection to the space around you,
Becoming one and accepted and open up this space within yourself,
When you feel ready,
Slowly open your eyes and aim to stay connected to one thing in front of you for the rest of your day.
One moment,
One detail,
Maintaining your awareness,
Slow,
Calm and steady,
Present,
Right here and now.
