Inner Peace Meditation
by Leah Frazier
Inner peace begins within. Listen to this meditation to cultivate and breathe in inner peace, citing the affirmations, and allowing it to truly manifest itself within the heart. As Amit Ray has stated, "Peace is the music of every heart. Our glory lies in understanding, listening and honoring that music." Enjoy and namaste. | Music: Gentle Awareness by Oliver Massa

So going ahead and finding a comfortable position.
Just taking these next several moments to settle in.
And whenever you're ready,
Just going ahead and lowering the eyes.
And if you're not comfortable lowering the eyes,
That's quite okay.
You can have a nice,
Soft,
Steady gaze right ahead of you.
And just begin to breathe.
Beginning to follow the inhale as you take it into the body.
Following the exhale as you breathe out.
And with every cycle of breath,
Just allowing your awareness to enter your space.
The immediate space around you.
And then breath by breath.
Allowing that awareness to travel a little bit deeper within.
I'll invite you to take three deep breaths in to further ground into the body.
So inhaling in as deep as you can.
And then opening the mouth and a gentle exhale out.
Deepening the breath once more as you inhale in,
Filling the belly with air.
Opening the mouth,
Gentle exhale out.
Another deep breath in.
And gentle exhale out.
And as you allow your breath to return back to a natural rhythm,
Just allowing your awareness for a moment to just rest at the base of the body.
Just having an awareness of your grounding point.
Noticing where the bottom of the body or the base of the spine connects with the mat,
The cushion,
The surface beneath.
And as you continue to breathe in the body,
Just allowing whatever's beneath to hold you for your practice today.
Knowing that beneath the surface,
The cushion,
The mat,
Beneath all of that is the earth.
That's there to root you,
To ground you,
To nurture you and support you for your practice today.
So even as you take this next breath in,
Just imagining that the earth is up and rising to meet you wherever you're at.
Wrapping its arms around you,
Cradling you for your practice.
And as you exhale out,
Just fully surrounding your body with the earth.
And as you inhale in,
Just allowing your breath to return back to a natural rhythm.
Rendering down back into the earth.
And just continuing to breathe.
On the next breath in,
Just lengthening through the spine.
And then just beginning to soften the body.
So going ahead and relaxing the eyebrows between the brows.
And softening around the nose and the mouth.
Relaxing the tongue in the mouth.
And if it feels good for you,
You can just slightly part the lips and allow the breath to flow in and out.
Making your way down as you soften through the hips,
Allowing the legs to be heavy and supported.
All the way until you reach the soles of the feet,
Just softening.
You can place your palms on top of the thighs or towards the edge of the knees if you're seated.
Palms up for your practice today.
And when we practice with our palms up,
This just sends out a signal that we are here to receive.
Not necessarily having to know exactly what that is,
But when we practice with our palms up,
It just says,
I am open to whatever may come.
And whenever you're ready,
Just beginning to follow the breath again in as you breathe in.
Following the breath down until it dissolves into the lungs.
And following the exhale out.
Here is your breathing,
Continuing to follow the breath.
As you inhale,
Maybe just noticing how smooth it feels as it enters into the body.
And still connecting with that same smoothness of breath as you exhale out.
And as you continue to bring the breath in,
Allowing the breath as it makes its way down to nurture you.
A smooth,
Nurturing breath.
And as you exhale out,
Allowing that same breath to comfort the body.
As you continue to breathe,
Now allowing your awareness to travel down towards the heart space.
And slowly and gently begin breathing in and out of the heart.
So as you take the breath in,
Imagining it going into the heart center.
And with every exhale out,
Allowing this space to feel lighter,
More open.
If you need to place a hand over the heart to connect with that warmth,
That loving and nurturing touch from yourself,
I invite you to do so.
That loving and nurturing touch from yourself,
I invite you to do so.
As you just breathe in and out of the heart space.
And breath by breath,
Imagining the heart opening as if it were a flower.
Opening itself up for love,
For compassion,
For peace.
And as you're continuing to breathe,
Allowing the mind's eye to go to that place of where you feel the most peace.
Maybe it's a specific location by the water,
In nature,
By the tree.
Maybe it's around a certain person,
A loved one,
A significant other where you feel peace.
Maybe it's an experience where you're in passion and purpose where you feel at peace.
Just allow your mind to go to that place.
And as you do,
Beginning to sense and feel and embody the feelings that come with being around that person or in that environment.
Being around that person or in that environment,
Beginning to breathe that in.
Holding whatever image of peace to the top of mind and beginning to use the breath to bring the feeling inside.
Perhaps even deepening the breath to allow that peace or that feeling,
That sensation to travel a little bit further and further with every breath.
As you're breathing deep,
Even imagining it spreading throughout,
Traveling and making its way down from the crown,
Through the throat,
Through the heart,
Down the arms and the fingertips,
Down through the abdomen,
The lower body,
The legs,
The toes,
The feet.
Breathing in peace,
But allowing it to spread all over.
As you continue to breathe in,
Maybe even allowing a gentle smile to come across your face.
As you're sensing,
You're feeling,
You're being peace.
Perhaps it's thinking of peace as a color or a light.
So as you're breathing it in,
Seeing this light,
This color spreading all throughout the body.
As you're sensing,
You're feeling,
You're being.
Allowing this peace to illuminate all throughout and within you.
But as you continue to breathe it in,
Knowing that you are peace.
As you deepen the breath,
Bringing that same sense of peace in to the heart space.
Internally going within and saying that I am peace.
Perhaps as you're breathing it in,
As you're sensing,
Maybe there's vibration.
As you're sensing,
Maybe there's vibrations,
Maybe there's a warmth.
Internally going within and saying,
I feel peace in every cell of my body.
I feel peace in every cell of my body.
Continuing to breathe in.
Perhaps still having the hand over the heart and saying,
I will be filled with peace,
Joy and serenity with every breath that I take.
Having more of an awareness of the heart,
Feeling the heartbeat,
Embracing the warmth of the hand over the heart.
As you say,
I can find peace by listening to my heart.
Gentle exhales out.
And lastly,
I will take the journey to peace one step at a time.
If you want to relax the hand down,
You may or keep it over the heart for another moment of comfort.
Still sensing,
Still feeling,
Still being.
Taking a moment just to rest in the peace that you've created within your body today.
Perhaps even imagining in the mind's eye,
The body vibrating with this peace.
However you would like to visualize it.
You being illuminated with peace.
And just for a moment,
Just resting in that sensation.
Resting in that feeling.
Resting in the true essence of who you are.
Peace.
And then whenever you're ready,
Just beginning to deepen the breath.
Taking in one last full breath into the body.
One last full breath into the body.
This one being every ounce of your inner peace.
Taking that within.
On the exhale out,
Releasing anything,
Any energy,
Anything that doesn't serve that higher purpose.
Allowing the exhale to release.
And then continuing to deepen the breath,
But inviting slow,
Gentle movements.
Maybe moving the head from side to side.
Maybe beginning to give the body a deep stretch.
Beginning to wiggle fingers,
Wiggle toes.
Just allowing your awareness to come back.
Just allowing your awareness to come back into the body and into your space.
And then whenever you're ready,
Just placing the palms together at heart center.
Just in thanks and gratitude for your peaceful practice today.
And then whenever you're ready,
Just taking a deep inhale into heart center.
And a slow exhale out.
My name is Leah.
It's always an honor to hold space for you at any point in time.
This inner peace meditation is from my heart to yours.
And so it is.
You can relax the palms back down,
Continuing to make your slow,
Gentle movements.
Steadily beginning to blink the eyes open.
And welcome back to our space.
Namaste.
