A warm welcome to you.
It's my pleasure to connect with you again today and to continue to explore the transformational power of gratitude.
Our relationships with family often carry the strain of our over-scheduled lives.
We take those we love for granted or find ourselves focusing on the small irritants.
Today's practice provides an antidote by inviting us to drop into a deep sense of thankfulness for a family member,
Past or present.
So closing down your eyes if you like.
Awareness landing on the ebb and flow of your breath.
Nothing to do.
No one to be.
Here in this moment,
It's enough to simply be with your breath.
The rise and fall of your chest.
The soft expansion and contraction of your belly.
With each breath arriving a little deeper.
And now directing a few deep breaths into the centre of your chest or your energetic heart.
And gentle breath allowing you to shift from the energy of busyness into a more grounded and receptive state.
And now in your own time,
Bringing to mind a family member,
Past or present,
Who you love or are fond of.
No need to overthink this.
Trust whoever comes to mind and heart first.
Taking a moment to really bring their details to mind.
Noticing their clothes,
Their posture,
The way they move,
Walk or sit on the couch.
Now imagining them doing something they really enjoy.
Bringing to mind their funny little ways.
Taking a few deep breaths into who they really are.
Can you look a little closer?
Slowly taking in the details of their face,
Their eyes,
Hair,
Other small features.
As you look closer,
You realise that they are smiling at you.
You take a deep breath into this smile,
Inviting it to land in your heart.
And in your own time,
You smile back.
Breathing in,
Receiving their smile.
Breathing out,
Giving a smile to them.
Deepening this experience of gratitude by calling to mind some of the things you love about this person.
I wonder,
What might this person love about you?
You may like to place your hand on your heart as a way of really allowing this moment of gratitude and connection to land.
Offering your body any gentle movement it desires.
Opening your eyes.
May you move through today feeling more grateful for the people in your life.
You can use this meditation whenever you want to feel closer to the people in your life.
I hope to connect with you again tomorrow for Day 5 of this 10 Day Gratitude Challenge.
