Coming Home
A beautiful meditation for anyone interested in quietening the external noise and experiencing the peace and wisdom that emerges when we come home to ourselves. This meditation also provides an opportunity to let go of what no longer serves you, and to invite in new qualities for a happier more fulfilled life.

A warm welcome to you.
As always,
I am grateful for this opportunity to guide you to a place of calm and stillness.
During this meditation we shall reduce the external noise of our busy lives and come home to ourselves in a gentle way.
In this act of coming home,
We will grow in comfort and in confidence.
So let us begin by finding a comfortable position.
This could be seated or lying down,
Whatever feels good for you today.
And closing down your eyes if you like,
Letting the landscape of your awareness turn inwards to your breath,
Body and heart.
And as you settle in,
Noticing the places where your body comes in contact with the surface that supports you.
And just relaxing into this support a little more now.
Really letting the ground receive your weight.
Taking a nice deep breath into this feeling of being supported,
Of the earth holding you.
And as you exhale,
Sinking a little deeper.
Remembering as always,
There is nowhere else you need to be.
It's okay to take this time for yourself.
I wonder,
Can you offer yourself a gentle smile of appreciation for being here right now,
For your desire to come home to yourself?
Can you let the essence of this smile wash over you,
Like a gentle wave of warmth and relaxation.
This warmth washing over your forehead,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw.
This sense of smile softening your entire face.
This wave of warmth and relaxation moving across your chest,
Your tummy,
Your hips and pelvis.
This sense of warmth traveling down your legs.
This sense of warmth traveling down your arms.
Really arriving now into this precious moment.
This moment of coming home.
Moving your attention now towards your breath.
This gentle yet powerful life force that exists within each of us.
Noticing the air as it enters your nose.
Noticing the air as it leaves your mouth.
Noticing the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe.
Noticing the soft expanse of your belly as the air flows in and out.
Noticing the way your entire body moves when you breathe.
Spending a few more moments here in the gentle movement of your breath.
What a gift it is to attend to your breath with such focus and gentle curiosity.
If you notice your mind is wandering perhaps to certain thoughts or emotions that's okay.
Just acknowledge these experiences without needing to do anything with them.
And when it feels right for you return to the sound of my voice.
Connecting once more to your breath.
This gift.
Just as the tide washes over the sand your breath washes over you.
As you continue to connect to your breath what do you notice?
Perhaps you are aware of a growing sense of relaxation of an experience of peace or calm.
Maybe you are aware of emotions or thoughts moving in and out of your awareness.
Simply resting here in your experience for a moment or two.
There is no right or wrong.
Just being curious and open.
Here in this moment of connection with yourself.
Here in this gentle experience of coming home.
As you cultivate this sense of coming home can you notice a sense of peace of stillness?
Can you notice a sense that all is well?
This is what coming home feels like.
When you are ready moving your attention to your heart and the space around your heart.
Inviting some gentle breaths into this space.
With each breath can you feel a softening?
Perhaps you can feel your heart beating.
Is it soft,
Strong,
Fast or slow?
Directing a few more deep breaths into this space now.
As if each breath is waking your heart from its slumber.
Taking a moment now to notice any feelings or sensations that are present for you in your heart.
Your heart may speak to you in words,
In emotions,
In physical sensations.
Exploring the idea of coming home to your sacred heart.
Within this moment of coming home I wonder if there is something that is making your heart feel heavy.
Is there something that's making your heart feel tentative or small?
Is there something that lives in your heart that you would like to let go of?
Perhaps an old hurt,
A worry,
A self-critical thought that is holding you back.
Perhaps you might like to let go of a mistake you have made or a concern you have for your future.
Focusing your awareness now on your exhale,
Allowing it to be long and smooth.
And as you breathe in this way,
Can you cultivate this feeling of letting go?
With each breath can you imagine you are letting go of this idea?
With each out-breath you are allowing this sense of heaviness to leave your body,
Mind and heart.
How does your heart feel?
Noticing any feelings of relaxation,
Of openness or spaciousness that may be present for you in this moment?
Within this space you have created,
Within this sense of openness,
I wonder is there something you would like to invite in?
Is there a part of yourself that you would like to nurture and grow?
That you would like to experience more of?
That you would like to feel more connected to?
Perhaps you would like to connect with your creative self,
Your adventurous self,
Your fun loving self.
Maybe you would like to nurture the part of you that is brave,
Honest,
Forgiving,
Compassionate.
Allowing yourself a few moments here to connect with these parts of you that you wish to grow.
Imagining that through breath you can wake this part of yourself from slumber.
With tender attention and breath you are encouraging this part of you to come alive.
Breathing this part of you awake,
Vibrant,
Strong.
Imagining yourself moving through your days with a greater sense of this part of you by your side.
What would your life look and feel like?
Setting yourself a gentle intention now about allowing this part of you to grow and to shine.
Maybe a phrase or a few words come to mind.
Sending these words out into the world.
Leaving them as whispers and reminders for you as you move through your days.
Gently beginning to deepen your breath.
Offering your body any movements it needs.
And finishing this meditation as we begun with a gentle smile of appreciation for your commitment to meditation and to coming home to yourself and the quiet place within.
When you are ready you may open your eyes.
Thank you.

Took me deep. I would love a “cheat sheet” of the areas we focused on, so if I lose the train I can get back on.

This was just what I needed today. Oftentimes I find sitting still in meditation to be a challenge. Not so here. I felt peaceful and optimistic.

Very fine balance of settling into a peacefulness creating a safe space for releasing; then allowing space to fill that with the intention of choosing and doing something that feeds the soul. Lovely! Well presented too! 🙏🕊👌🏻
