Welcome to this guided meditation created by someone with ADHD,
For people with ADHD.
My name is Fleur Chambers and I created this meditation to help you feel more accepting of the many different aspects of your neurodivergent self,
So that you can thrive.
Use this guided meditation every day for a week or two and see how you feel.
I'm guessing more empowered and creative and kind towards yourself.
So getting comfy and closing down your eyes if that feels good for you today.
And taking three nice deep breaths as a way of letting your nervous system know that it's okay to slow down,
To arrive here.
And as you settle in,
Just reminding yourself that we aren't striving to stop our thoughts or to reach some amazing place of Zen.
We are meditating together today to spend some time with ourselves and to cultivate this feeling of warmth and acceptance.
So let your mind do what it needs to do.
Long smooth inhale.
Long smooth exhale.
Now allowing an image of a rainforest to emerge in your mind's eye.
You might see the scene clearly,
You might sense it,
Or maybe it's more of a feeling.
Imagining the tall trees reaching up towards the sky.
Noticing the texture of their trunks.
Sensing into their age and wisdom.
Noticing the nutrient dense soil beneath your feet.
Can you see,
Hear or sense birds or other animals within this rainforest?
Rainforests are the Earth's oldest living ecosystems.
Some up to 70 million years old.
They are home to more than half of the world's plant and animal species.
Really sensing into how diverse and complex the rainforest is.
With different trees,
Plants,
Flowers,
Animals and insects.
Different textures and shades of green.
Plants big and small.
Young and old.
Some trees reaching to the sky with determination.
Other plants content to live within the shadows of the rainforest floor.
Imagining the complex root systems,
The nutrient rich soil below the surface.
Each aspect playing an important role in creating the complex ecosystem.
Taking a few deep breaths.
And opening to the possibility that you are like a rainforest.
Complex,
Intelligent,
Creative,
Multifaceted.
Within you is an incredible neurodivergent ecosystem.
With strengths and challenges that work together to create your uniqueness.
Focusing now on the shadows on the rainforest floor.
The aspects that live in the darkness.
And can you call into your awareness some aspects of you that live within the shadows.
Parts of you that you often try to hide.
Maybe the parts of you that get overwhelmed or distracted easily.
The aspects of you that start things and then lose interest.
And reminding yourself that just like the rainforest floor,
These inner qualities have their place.
The overwhelm,
The distraction and so on,
They're all allowed to be here.
Long smooth inhale.
Long smooth exhale.
Being okay with these shadowy aspects of you.
Noticing now the density of the forest floor.
The ferns,
The small plants,
The soil.
And calling to mind and heart some of the aspects of you that have felt heavy or dense lately.
What aspects of your ADHD life have felt hard.
And offering these aspects of you a smile.
Letting them know that they're okay.
That just like the forest floor,
They have their place within your ecosystem.
Just as the roots of trees live below the surface and are often overlooked,
Are there parts of you that feel unnoticed or underappreciated?
Here in this moment,
Can you offer them the attention,
Respect or appreciation they deserve?
Are you enthusiastic,
Honest or creative?
Do you liven up social interactions or entertain people with your unique perspective?
Taking a deep grateful breath into all these parts of you.
Awareness moving now towards the tallest trees within the rainforest.
These trees that have displayed determination,
A real commitment to reach the sun.
And can you acknowledge the aspects of you that are determined,
Committed to working towards the good life.
Towards a sense of satisfaction and well-being both for yourself and those you love.
Becoming aware also of the smaller trees,
Who in the rainforest are often the children of the taller trees.
These young trees are enthusiastic,
Sometimes impatient,
Impulsive,
Keen to be the tallest amidst the canopy.
And can you locate a part of you that's impulsive or impatient?
And again,
Offering these aspects of you your breath and your gentle attention.
And for a few breaths,
Sitting here amidst the rainforest,
Acknowledging your unique neurodivergent ecosystem with a sense of acceptance and ease.
Awareness coming back into your body as it sits or lies in meditation.
Opening your eyes.
Feeling more confident,
Creative and accepting of who you are.
