Beautiful people,
And welcome back to the Day by Day podcast.
Today,
I felt inspired to bring to you a new meditation because I know that the middle of winter can be a tough time for a lot of people.
We experience a lack of joy,
A lack of inspiration.
It's overcast a lot of the time.
And so today,
I was really excited to record this meditation for you.
I call it the internal smile meditation.
And the intention here is really to just bring a sense of upliftment and joy into your day and to affect and impact positively the rest of the people in your life.
This is an iteration of Keith Wilson's Go to Glow meditation that has made a beautiful,
Positive impact in my life.
And I hope to spread it and just show my version of it to you today.
So I invite you to find a comfortable position,
Either seated in a chair with your feet flat on the floor or seated on a meditation cushion,
Or even lying down,
Whatever feels most comfortable for you.
Allow your spine to be tall and sturdy while the rest of your body relaxes on your frame.
Become present with the natural rhythm of breath as we allow our eyes to close or soften towards the floor.
Draw your awareness deeper into this present moment by following the eternal flow of breath.
Following this flow of breath into a deeper,
More meditative state of consciousness.
Inhaling awareness,
Exhaling softness.
With fullness,
Depth,
And loving control,
We inhale awareness and exhale a little bit deeper into softness.
I invite you to relax the jaw,
Soften between your eyebrows,
Allow your shoulders to fall away from the ears,
Soften the belly,
And root your sit bones into the chair or cushion beneath you.
Now imagine your breath as a smooth flow of fresh water moving into every part of your body on your inhale,
Refreshing and melting away any pain,
Stress,
Or tension on your exhale.
Allowing this stream to flow and create ease throughout your body.
This stream is always present,
And it's a gift we receive as a result of becoming present and aware.
Now with complete awareness,
We are going to allow this stream to flow to our facial muscles,
Slowly bringing a comfortable smile to our face now.
Allow your lips to curl into a natural smile,
Feeling your body's energy flow into your face.
Allow your lips to curl into a natural smile,
Feeling your body begin to radiate the energy of positivity and joy in this moment.
Allow yourself to smile.
And as you do this,
Begin to feel the effects that this external smile has on your internal environment.
Notice how your heart feels.
Notice how your body feels.
And allow yourself to feel this natural smile and this sense of positivity as you continue to express this authentic smile and embody upliftment,
Joy,
And ease.
Begin to scan your body and bring this internal smile to every corner,
Every crevice of your internal world,
Of joy,
This sense of ease,
Allowing for any areas of tension to melt away and be replaced with ease.
These sensations and this shift of energy that we receive from smiling comes directly from source,
Directly from the eternal resources within you of love and light.
When you express this internal sense of love and light outwards,
You are not depleting these resources because they are infinite.
They are eternal.
They come from that place within you,
That eternal overflow of love and of light,
Of source energy.
And at any moment when you feel you need a sense of upliftment or positivity,
Return to stillness.
Bring a genuine smile to your face and open yourself to receive this overflow,
This felt sense of an internal smile,
Joy,
And upliftment throughout the body.
Radiating these sensations and this energy outward to the people,
Places,
And things we come in contact with throughout our day.
We are going to invite this energy that we have cultivated to flow to a person or situation in our life,
Asking this eternal flow of joy and upliftment to flow there now,
Effortlessly allowing this overflow to spread to that person or scenario now.
Soak in this feeling,
These sensations,
And notice your heart space for a few more seconds here.
Lovingly draw your awareness back to the natural flow of breath,
Deepening the breath to bring aliveness and movement back into your body,
Coming back into this space,
Into the room that you're in with a newfound sense of love and light.
You can stay here and meditate longer or blink your eyes open whenever you are ready.
