Central Channel Practice - Light Energy Rising Upwards
Imagine that there is a point of life energy at the root of the body shining upwards. As it shines upwards, this energy gradually becomes more and more subtle until, at last, it merges into the open sky of consciousness in the space above the crown.
Transcript
I want you to begin by setting up a comfortable seated position.
Provide yourself with any prop support needed so that you can sit comfortably.
And especially within the context of this meditation,
Which is a central channel meditation,
It is especially important that you position yourself so that your spine can be upright,
So that you can stack the vertebrae of your spine as optimally as possible.
And this is so that the flow of energy that moves up along the primary energy channel just in front of the spine is so that that energy can flow much more easily and much more freely.
So if you need to sit on bolsters or pillows,
Or even seated on a chair with your feet flat on the ground and your back a little bit away from the back of the chair.
Once you are ready,
You may place your hands just as I have them with the palms down on the knees.
You may touch the index fingertip to the thumb fingertip.
Or if you find it more comfortable,
You may place the hands in the lap with the right hand resting on top of the left hand and both hands resting comfortably in the lap so that your arms and your shoulders can relax.
And just spend a few moments becoming at least more settled than when you began.
Sometimes it may take much more than a few moments to become settled.
I want you to close your eyes.
When you feel ready,
Close your eyes.
Allowing the eyelids to just relax together.
So you're not clenching your eyelids together,
Your brow,
You're not furrowing the brow and tensing your forehead.
Let the eyes relax.
Let the face,
The jaw relax.
The tongue and the palate.
See if you can allow your tongue to rest in your mouth and see if you can relax or release the palate area.
Especially important again in the context of a central channel type meditation that the palate is relaxed.
The spine is long,
Upright,
The palate is soft.
And you just become aware,
More aware at least of your breathing or your lack of breathing.
Without attempting to change it,
For now,
Just become aware of the fact that you are still breathing,
You must still be alive.
See if you can allow your abdomen to relax and move naturally with your breath.
Let go of,
As best as you can,
Let go of any clenching or tensing in the belly,
Holding tightly.
I want you to be aware of the heavy feeling of your pelvis,
The sit bones connected to the seat.
I was going to say connected to the ground,
Which it is earth.
Whether you're on a chair or rock or dirt or whatever.
Feel the heavy feeling of your body connected there at the earth.
Feel the solidness beneath your body.
If your feet are flat on the ground,
If you're sitting on a chair,
Then feel the ground beneath your feet,
Feel the solidness beneath the feet and at the root of the body beneath the bum.
And from that root from the ground in which you are rooted.
Be aware of the feeling of the spine rising upward.
The crown is reaching for the sky.
Be aware of the feeling of the solid vertebrae of your spine,
Stacking one by one by one all the way up.
Be aware of the feeling of the body,
The whole body there,
Which is rooted to the ground.
Which is solid at the base and rooted to the ground and which rises upward,
Becoming lighter and lighter and lighter as the crown reaches for the sky.
As the crown opens to the open expanse of sky.
Now,
I want us to become more aware of this,
The idea of or the sense of this central column of energy,
The central channel or central vein of energy that runs from the root of the body right up into that open expanse of sky above the crown.
In fact,
I want you to make the tiniest rotations with your torso like you're drawing a circle with your spine,
Tiniest circle.
So that you may get a sense of the axis of the spine.
And then I want you to leave that alone and get a sense of this column or channel which runs just in front of the spine from the root of the body,
All the way up to the space just above the crown,
Maybe six inches above the crown.
Four,
Five,
Six inches.
And allow yourself to be still once you're done drawing that circle,
That cylinder,
In a sense,
Using the axis of the spine just to get a sense of this sort of central column this central vein,
Which lies just in front of the spine it's not in the spine,
Just in front of the spine.
Now we're going to continue into this central column through the energy of the breath.
Use the awareness,
The focus,
Through the energy of the breath to travel up and down this central column.
I want you to just begin to get the sense of breath flowing in and out of the body,
Without changing it yet,
Just get the sense of the breath flowing in and out.
As it passes in and passes in and down into the body,
This inhalation.
And as it passes out flows with the exhale sort of up and out,
Like it flows back up and out.
So the inhale,
The sense of the energy of the inhale,
Bringing life in and down into the body.
Just very natural,
And the exhalation,
Along with that is the sense of the energy of that exhale flowing back up through the body and out.
I just want you to get this very natural sense of this current of life energy which we are calling breath flowing in and down,
Bringing life into the body.
And when it's ready to do so it turns around and it flows with absolute ease back up and out.
No force,
No strain in this.
Just a very natural sense of the energy of the breath flowing in and down into the body.
It doesn't even need to travel all the way down to the root of the body which I have mentioned this root,
Just getting the sense of the breath flowing wherever it flows into the body might feel like it stops the center of the chest or even the throat,
Or even the abdomen,
Wherever but then it flows back up through the body and it exits up and out.
And we're talking about the energy of the breath,
Not the object of like wind,
Which flows into our lungs,
The energy of the breath that passes in,
In and down,
And out.
No effort,
You're not to try with forced effort to breathe in any certain way.
The abdomen is allowed to move very naturally with the breath you're not trying to fill the belly up and pull it back,
Just moves naturally is relaxed.
I want you to continue with this idea but I want you to take the energy of the breath and awareness as it flows in and down,
You're going to get the sense,
Or you're going to imagine or visualize even this breath as light energy flowing all the way in and down until it comes to rest.
The root of the body at the center of the pelvic floor.
And then as the exhale is ready to flow back up and out that exhale flows as that light energy be like light energy it could be pearlescent energy could be any color or no color,
Or no vision of it at all and just the sense of the breath energy is the inhale flows in it flows in and down right down to the root of the body,
Where it comes to rest for a moment,
Until it's ready to rise as the energy of the exhalation up through the body,
Up the center of the body just in front of the spine,
Only you're going to imagine that exhale going up the center of the body and out through the crown of the head,
Where it finally dissolves four or five six inches above.
It dissolves into the light of consciousness.
And then as an inhale remanifests it just flows in and down to return that light energy to return as this condensed light energy at the root of the body.
So as your inhalation flows in and down that central channel down from the space above the crown and down through the body.
It comes to touch this point of condensed light energy condensed prana Shakti life energy.
I want you to imagine this light energy,
Like a condensed point at the root of the body.
I want you to imagine that as that light energy shines up through the body,
That as it shines upward it gradually becomes subtler and subtler as it finally reaches that spot in the space above the ground.
So what that means is that this energy this light energy,
Which begins as this condensed point like this been do point at the root of the body,
As it shines up from the root of the body up through the central channel,
And up to the space above the crown.
Gradually as that light shines upward it,
In a sense,
Just like any light would sort of spreads its being becomes a little bit wider,
And it becomes more and more subtle the further away from the source of that light further away from it you go that light becomes subtler and subtler and subtler.
And in the same way I want you to imagine,
Visualize,
Or sense that that life energy which begins as this like pointer this ball of brilliant condensed prana Shakti life force energy from the root as it flows upward or as it shines upward as it rises higher and higher becomes subtler and subtler like rays of light energy from the sun until finally those rays of light energy dissolve to become one with the light of all pervasive awareness and the space above the ground.
So your inhalation and exhalation continues to flow as naturally as you can allow it to be.
You're not to try to breathe in any certain way.
Just follow the natural flow of your life energy as breath.
The inhalation flows down.
Sometimes when I do this I don't feel the inhale flowing down sometimes it feels like it drops instantly right down to the root of the body.
Or like a straw slurping up liquid it sometimes feel like feels like inhale is slurped down the central channel instantly arriving back at the room,
Or may feel as though it moves very slowly streaming slowly down with the inhale to the root of the body.
Touching that source of prana Shakti that coiled up Kundalini Shakti which rises shining upwards through the body whose light rays are going to become subtler and subtler until finally they are one with the space above the crown until they dissolve into or merge back into that space.
Now I want you as you do this as you continue this at the end of the exhalation as you arrive at the point at which that light energy has become so subtle that it finally merges into that spacious void above the crown.
I want you to hold there,
We need to hold your attention at that very moment that that prana Shakti that life energy that arises up becoming subtler and subtler I want you to pause at the end of the exhale at that very moment.
As long as it's comfortable until the inhalation feels ready to re-manifest again drop back down to that root back down to touch that condensed brilliant point of prana Shakti.
.
With that very natural and easy flowing inhale you're following,
You're flowing down with it to touch the source of that light at the root of the body.
To imagine this light that exists right at the center of your pelvic floor.
Furloughing light and as it shines upward,
As it shines its light energy up through that central channel gradually as it rises higher and higher it becomes subtler and subtler.
Until it dissolves or merges to the space above the crown.
You are to reside there at that space above the crown at the very end of the exhalation at the very moment that that exhale dissolves and that light energy dissolves or merges into that spacious void.
So that you're not in a rush to arrive at either one point.
You're not rushing your way through the inhale to come back to the root.
You're not rushing through the exhale to find your way back to the space above the crown.
Your focus is not on the breath itself but on the rising prana shakti which rises from the root becoming gradually as the tantra describes gradually becoming subtler and subtler until it arrives into that space of consciousness where perhaps the truth of our essence nature is revealed or recognized revealed and recognized.
So allow the inhalation to guide you back down through that central channel right back to the center of the pelvic floor down through the center of the body to the center of the pelvic floor.
And allow the exhalation to be the vehicle through which you rise along with that prana shakti becoming subtler and subtler until finally you reached at that point where the breath dissolves and you repose for a moment or a few moments at that space above the crown.
You must reside there however brief openly without seeking anything or grasping for anything just release yourself completely to those few moments at the end of the exhale in the space above the crown.
And then ride that inhale all the way back down returning to the root of the body.
So so so so just maintain your awareness don't do anything don't change anything.
You may let go of the focus on the rising life energy or rising prana shakti but remain aware of that gentle pause or space at the end of the exhalation.
Remain aware of that sense of life energy still passing into the body with the inhale and passing back up and out of the body continuing to reside in that momentary pause.
So so just to remain very open to it very interested in that pause in that moment at the end of the exhale and even that moment at the top of the inhale.
Even if it's for only a millisecond.
So I would like to invite you to begin to recognize yourself more so as that pause is the qualities of that pause is the purity of that pause.
The empty fullness of that pause rather than that contracted state of personality consciousness that you call I am so-and-so.
I invite you to recognize yourself as that awareness which fills that pause much more clearly.
It's always there but it becomes much more clear.
It reveals itself much more easily.
At the point between one object and another object is the awareness that there is a moment between one object and another at least at first.
The moment between one breath and another the moment between one thought and another the moment between moving from here to there.
That pause where pureness the crystal clarity of that awareness is more easily revealed more easily recognized.
So be aware of your the sensations of your body be aware of the sense the sensations the feeling.
The feeling of the torso and spine and the pelvis again connected still connected to the earth.
Feeling of the legs maybe the feet connected to the floor the earth.
Be aware of the felt sense of the entire body the whole body held by the earth contained safely by the earth.
And when you're ready you may begin to.
If you're ready slowly open the eyes again if you wish to continue in stillness then by all means please do.
Thank you for being here for existing and for your interest in and yearning for truth.
Otherwise I know you wouldn't be here watching this video.
