In this meditation, we connect the heart and womb centers through visualization and synchronized, figure-of-8 breathing. The objective is to bring connection, flow, and harmony between these two energy centers in the body. It can be particularly appropriate during menstruation to enter awareness of our bodies during this time, for cultivating self-love and balance, and for choosing to cultivate harmony, balance, and flow during or after emotional upset or conflict. A powerful set of imagery to practice "coming home" and being centered in our full, essential selves.

Hello and welcome to your heart,

Womb,

Breath meditation.

So you can start by getting in a comfortable seated or lying down position.

This meditation works particularly well if you're seated,

But if you're cozy and lying down or you really just want to be restorative,

Please feel free to lie down.

And as you're settling into your body,

Check to see that the spine is lengthening,

There's softness in the neck,

In the shoulders,

Your sit bones,

If you're seated,

Are placed evenly on the floor.

Close down the eyes if you haven't already,

And you can tuck the chin slightly so that your inner gaze is heading towards your inner body.

As you breathe,

Become aware of your belly and your chest and how they're moving in dance with your breathing.

In this meditation,

We're going to be working with the heart space and the womb space and connecting these two powerful centers.

Each are incredibly important for our expression of the feminine,

Each are incredibly important in living with ease and flow and being plugged in to the mystery,

To the truth,

To the essence and fullness of who we are and our relationship to the world and the earth and our bodies.

Watching them rise and fall like waves,

Surfing the breath,

And on your next inhale,

I invite you to draw the breath into the belly and let it land here.

Allow the base of your belly to be the soil that the roots of your breath fall into,

Sinking the roots of your breath down into this grounded,

Rich space,

Allowing the breath to find its anchor and its home here.

You can imagine the roots of your breath being sent down into the womb space just below the belly.

The womb represents the primordial space of the dreaming,

The void,

The void from which all creation comes,

The darkness of the soil,

Which we cannot see beneath,

But we know from the trees and the flowers that spring above that there is a system as complex,

Equally beautiful and in a mirror relationship to that of the upper world,

So above,

So below.

Sending the roots of your breath down into this mystery temple and you can imagine branches and leaves of this tree spreading up into the heart space,

Anahata Chakra,

The element of air,

And a breeze gently rustles through the leaves that burst forth from your heart.

As you breathe in,

Your breath makes them spin and dance like windmills and as you breathe out,

You send your awareness back down to the roots of the womb,

Feeling the life in both the roots and the leaves,

The different qualities and sensations of both,

And feeling the sensations in the heart space,

The chest,

And in the womb,

Pelvic bowl,

The belly.

Now we're going to use the visualization of a figure eight to enter a trance with our breath.

So as we breathe in,

We're drawing energy from the womb up the tree into the heart space and we can hold it there,

Letting the breath nourish the heart,

And on the exhale we send the energy of the heart down into the womb space,

Holding it there so that the womb can be nourished by the loving energy of the heart,

And breathing in,

Drawing up the grounding energy of the womb into the heart,

Letting the womb spread its wings up here in the flowers and the leaves,

Expressing its fullness,

And exhaling,

Letting the loving energy of the heart descend and ground in the womb space.

So you can continue this in your own time,

Keeping the visualization of the figure of eight if that helps you,

Connecting these two centers with the infinity symbol,

The infinite rhythm of the breath.

Now and again you can retain the breath in the heart,

The top of the inhale,

Just to fully immerse yourself in the sensations of this space,

And you can do the same when it feels right for you,

The edge of the exhale in the womb space,

Letting the life force and presence expand in these spaces,

In the timelessness of that held breath,

And returning to your fluid seamless figure of eight when you're ready.

If you wish,

You can experiment with the speed of your breath,

So if you've noticed that the pace of your breath has quickened with the figure of eight visualization,

See what happens if you really elongate that exhale,

Wrapping around the womb and elongating the inhale up to the heart,

And if you've been going quite slow,

You're welcome to experiment with following a more fluid,

Quicker rhythm.

Take this time to become familiar with the breath,

The figure of eight,

The womb and your heart as tools that you can use,

See how it feels in your body,

And when you're ready,

You can let any intention go and return to a natural,

Comfortable pace.

On your next inhale,

You can imagine your breath nourishing,

Blossoms to life in your heart space.

With every breath,

More blossoms spring from the heart in full spring,

Imagining your heart as a beautiful garden that's been sown from the seed,

Planted in the womb space,

The darkness of the soil,

Rich and nourishing,

The womb in which all life comes,

And with the conditions of presence,

Imagination and breath,

The colors of this seed are nurtured into being,

Allowing the colors of your heart to pour forward,

Spilling open from the seed,

And equally in full bloom are the roots that extend down from the belly into the womb,

Pelvic bowl,

Connecting you to the earth,

The grounded and expanded heart,

As above,

So below.

If there's any nourishment that you need at this time,

Or anything that you'd like to bring into your life,

I invite you to bring it in through the roots that are extending into the earth,

And allow the earth to offer you what you need,

Pouring it up from the roots,

Into the womb space,

Up into the trunk,

The branches,

The stems,

The leaves,

The flowers,

Bloom through the heart space,

And on your exhale,

Allowing anything that no longer serves you to exit through the roots,

Down into the earth,

Sending it back to be transformed,

And let that visualization go,

And wherever your hands might be,

Turn them around so that the palms are facing up to the sky,

And you can imagine blossoms of your heart growing and winding even further,

So that they grow all the way down your arms and into your hands,

Manifesting as two beautiful flowers in the center of your palms.

Feel these flowers here,

See their color,

Feel their softness of the petals,

And smell their fragrance in the air around you,

And holding these flowers in your hands,

You can bring one palm to your belly,

And one palm to your heart space,

Whichever one feels right for you.

If one hand feels better on the belly and one on the heart,

Please feel free to make that change,

Following your intuition,

And gently press these beautiful flowers into your womb and heart space,

Feeling your chest and womb space rise up to meet the flowers as you inhale,

And feeling the beautiful properties of these flowers descend into your womb and heart space as you exhale.

Breathe here naturally,

Letting go of the visualization of the womb and the heart as two separate locations,

And feeling them disperse and merge into one another,

Allowing the essence and fragrance of this flower to dissolve all the way through you,

And simply allow your entire being to expand and deflate with the inhale and exhale,

Breathing from your whole body as one unit,

And when you're ready,

You can release your palms so that they're open again,

Take a final breath in,

And exhale through the mouth,

A clear womb,

A clear heart,

Clear mind and body for the rest of your day.

Thank you.
