Good morning!
Unless you are waking up at a time that is not morning,
Then good whatever time of day it is to you.
You're here!
You've started another day.
Whether this feels like a joyous thing or a challenge,
Let's celebrate the simple win of just starting the day.
By now,
You should be seated comfortably,
Using any back support you need.
You can lean forward and backward and side to side on your seat until you find something that feels centered,
Where you feel like you're rooted and balanced.
Take a deep breath in and position your ribs over your hips.
As you exhale,
Let that settle in.
Take another deep breath in.
Pretend to lift your shoulders up towards your ears and as you breath out,
Fully release your shoulders down and gently broaden your collar bones,
Almost like it was a smile across your chest.
You can lengthen your neck by feeling the backs of your ears move back and up slightly.
And then on a scale of 1 to 10,
10 being the deepest breath you've ever taken,
Allow your breaths to be at about a 6 or a 7.
This is a breath that you're aware of and one that you're consciously manipulating,
But you're not going to be at the very top of your inhale or at the very bottom of your exhale.
As you continue with this breath,
Consider something you've already done today that you're proud of.
Something really simple and small,
Just like getting out of bed or maybe it was pressing play on this meditation or it's the deep breaths you've been taking.
Just become aware of how precious these simple things are.
If you'd like,
You can consider what your morning might look like if this simple thing hadn't happened.
Now,
Consider something very simple that you're looking forward to today.
Maybe it's the lunch you packed or it's the series or show that you're going to watch later that you really like.
Maybe it's the cup of coffee you're going to drink or the warm water of the shower splashing onto your skin if you haven't yet showered today.
But keep it really simple.
You almost want to focus on it being slightly mundane.
Allow your breath to deepen to an eight or nine out of ten now.
So we're almost at the deepest breath we can get.
We're getting in as much oxygen as almost possible and releasing almost all of it out.
If it feels right,
You can use your exhales to sigh,
Taking a deep breath in through the nose.
You can allow the simplicity of that side to get you ready to move about your day,
Grateful for the simple things.
Remembering that simple and insignificant are not synonyms.
Have a good day.
