Unprocessed emotions cause the body to become imbalanced, which leads to physical, mental and emotional problems. This imbalance lowers our immune system, blocks the natural flow of energy in the body and prevents normal function of the organs and glands. The good news is that there are tools we can use to get unstuck, and we can layer these tools to get even more profound results. In this talk, learn how to use EFT (aka tapping) and essential oils together to get unstuck and heal. You will also be guided through an EFT tapping meditation designed to shift any unwanted emotions or feelings that you are currently experiencing so that you can experiment with what you have just learnt. For those new to EFT, I provide an introduction to this evidence-based modality in my talk An Introduction to EFT Tapping, which you can find under my teacher profile here on Insight Timer.

Our emotional health can have a profound impact on our physical health.

This is because we often retain negative emotional energy in our bodies due to the incomplete processing of some emotions.

In fact,

Deep-seated emotional trauma is said to get encoded in our DNA and Dr.

Candice Pert,

Who's a research professor and the author of Molecules of Emotion,

States that repressed traumas caused by overwhelming emotion can be stored in a body part.

These trapped emotions cause the body to become imbalanced,

Which leads to physical,

Mental,

And emotional problems.

This imbalance lowers our immune system,

Blocks the natural flow of energy in the body,

And prevents normal function of the organs and glands.

Therefore,

Emotional trauma or woundings can produce conditioned emotional responses that can lead to unexplained pain,

Illness,

And psychological issues until released.

The good news is that there are tools we can use to get unstuck,

And we can even layer these tools to get even more profound results and reduce the risk of overwhelming our systems while healing.

Two tools that I like to layer are EFT,

Which is also known as tapping,

And essential oils.

For those new to EFT,

I provide an introduction to this evidence-based modality in my talk,

An Introduction to EFT Tapping,

Which you can find under my teacher profile here on Insight Timer.

Now I want to talk a little about the power of essential oils in supporting our emotional state.

Studies show that essential oils can help us to release trapped emotions via the brain's limbic system,

Which is our emotional control center.

This part of the brain plays a vital role in interpreting and channeling intense experiences,

Particularly memories of fear or trauma.

Further,

The amygdala,

Which is part of the limbic system and where subconscious memories are stored,

Plays a major role in storing and releasing emotional trauma.

When we inhale essential oil molecules,

They are trapped by the olfactory membrane in our noses.

This lining of nerve cells then triggers electrical impulses to the olfactory bulb in the brain.

From there,

The electrical impulses are transmitted to the amygdala and to other parts of the limbic system.

The limbic system is connected to the parts of the brain that control memory,

Stress levels,

Breathing,

Hormones,

Heart rate and blood pressure.

Therefore,

Inhaling essential oils can have a positive impact on our physical and mental health without us even having to think about it.

Studies have also shown that some essential oils can increase oxygen levels in the brain by up to 28%.

This is because the biochemicals in essential oils,

Particularly sesquiterpenes,

Can increase blood oxygen levels in the brain.

This increased oxygenation,

Along with the aroma,

Seems to facilitate the release of stored emotional blocks via the amygdala and its connection to other parts of the brain.

Combining essential oils that boost blood oxygen levels in the brain with mental focus and intent to release emotional baggage is effective in resolving unexplained physical problems caused by past emotional trauma.

Relaxation,

Which is promoted by essential oils containing aldehydes and esters,

Also assists in helping our bodies to release emotional blocks.

Some researchers also believe that inhalation of essential oils can increase the body's energetic frequency Emotional trauma creates a negative frequency that may be offset by using essential oils.

These oils can elevate the entire frequency of the body,

Whether used topically or via inhalation.

The measured vibrational frequency of high-quality essential oils have been shown to go as high as 320 MHz,

As seen with rose oil.

Lavender has a frequency of 118 MHz and sandalwood has a frequency of 96 MHz.

In comparison,

A healthy human body has a frequency of 62 to 70 MHz.

The emotion of guilt has a frequency of 30 MHz.

When preparing for emotional healing work,

Essential oils can be a great support at a subtle energetic level.

It is beneficial to prepare yourself to allow emotions to be released and to support yourself in the processing of released emotions.

I have a couple of essential oil blends that I like to use when tapping or doing any form of healing work.

Before a session,

I use a blend of sandalwood and cypress essential oils.

I add two drops of sandalwood and one drop of cypress into a 10ml roller bottle and top it with a carrier oil,

Such as fractionated coconut oil.

Sandalwood is helpful in quietening the mental chatter and helps us to connect to our inner wisdom.

Cypress is supportive during times of change,

Giving us courage to heal,

Grow and move forward.

I like to apply this oil blend to my inner forearms before I start tapping.

With all that in mind,

I'd like to invite you into an experiment.

Choose an essential oil or creative blend and inhale or apply it to your skin along with a carrier oil before you start tapping.

Another option is to diffuse your chosen oil or oils while tapping.

You can choose your oil intuitively or you can tailor the oil to the emotion you are experiencing or you can use a blend similar to the one I use,

Which is supporting for all healing work.

Sweet orange oil can be used for anger,

Anxious feelings,

Depression,

Irritability and frustration.

If you are feeling guilty,

Sad,

Fearful or confused,

You can reach for bergamot.

Peppermint can be used when you are feeling unmotivated or struggling with feelings of low self-worth.

Eucalyptus can be used to clear negativity and feelings of overwhelm.

And lavender can be used to address fear,

Depression,

Anxiety,

Anger and confusion.

If you have essential oils on hand and emotions or feelings you would like to shift,

Let's do some tapping now and see what shifts you notice.

I will keep the words very general to suit everyone's situation,

But I encourage you to substitute any of the words I use with what you are experiencing.

So pause this talk and choose an oil or oils to work with and the method that you are going to use to work with them.

Once you are ready,

Get into a comfortable seated position.

Before closing down the eyes and becoming present to the surface supporting you.

And notice the play of air on your exposed skin,

The aroma of the oil or oils in the space around you and the sound of my voice and any other sounds that you are hearing.

Now take a deep breath in,

Filling your belly first and then your lungs,

Before slowly and gently releasing your breath.

Repeat again,

Fill your belly first,

Then your lungs and then slowly and gently release your breath,

Before returning to your normal breathing pattern.

Now tune into your body and notice where you are feeling the emotion that you are wanting to release.

Maybe you can feel the energy of it in your chest or your stomach or maybe you are holding on to it in your jaw.

Or maybe you feel pressure in your head or a tightness in your throat.

Just scan your body and see what you notice.

Once you have identified the location,

Give a score to the sensation you are feeling on a scale of 0 to 10,

With 10 being the most uncomfortable and 0 representing no discomfort at all.

We will use this score to measure our progress after we finish tapping.

Now begin tapping on the side of the hand with four fingers and repeat after me.

Even though I am struggling with this emotional state,

I acknowledge how I feel and I accept it as much as I can.

Even though I would like to release this emotional state,

But it seems stuck,

I am open to letting it go as much as I can so that I can start to feel better.

Staying on the side of the hand,

Even though I am experiencing these uncomfortable feelings and it doesn't feel great,

I am open to lifting my energetic vibration so that I can release all these feelings now.

Going to the top of the head,

Aware of how I feel.

Eyebrow,

Acknowledging how I feel.

Outer eye,

Noticing how it feels in my body.

Under the eye,

I can feel this emotional energy stuck in my body.

Under the nose,

Accepting how I feel right now.

Under the mouth,

Even though it doesn't feel great.

Collarbone,

Allowing myself to fully feel this emotion.

Under the arm,

Choosing not to block these feelings,

Even though they are uncomfortable.

Top of the head,

I recognise the fact that I am feeling this way.

Eyebrow,

And at the same time,

Outer eye,

I recognise that emotions are just energy in motion.

Under the eye,

And that if I allow myself to fully experience these feelings.

Under the nose,

The energy can keep moving without getting stuck.

Under the mouth,

Letting all parts of me know.

Collarbone,

That it is safe to fully feel this emotion.

Under the arm,

Because at the same time.

Top of the head,

I am sending calming signals to my brain.

By tapping on these acupressure points.

And by working with this oil or oil blend.

Eyebrow,

My brain is then sending signals to my body.

Letting it know that it is safe to relax.

Outer eye,

These tools are working together to relax my whole body.

Under the eye,

Allowing me to feel,

Process and then release this emotion.

Under the nose,

So that I can raise my energetic frequency.

Under the mouth,

And start to feel better.

Collarbone,

Choosing to relax and let go.

Under the arm,

Choosing to support my physical,

Mental and emotional health.

Release the tapping and take in a slow deep breath.

First filling your abdomen,

Followed by your lungs.

Before slowly and gently releasing the inhalation.

Repeat one more time,

Before returning to your normal breathing pattern.

Then tune back into your body and notice what has changed.

Are you feeling more relaxed?

Has your score come down a little or a lot?

Just notice how you feel and know that the essential oil or blend that you are working with will continue to support you as your system continues to process the energetic shift you are creating.

If your score remains elevated,

You can continue tapping until you detect a noticeable change.

Just pause this talk and keep tapping on all the acupressure points silently or maybe with the words of your choosing until your score out of 10 drops to a 2 or below.

I hope you found this talk and experiment helpful and that you are feeling better and more relaxed after the tapping.

I'd love it if you would like to leave a message letting me know what essential oil or oil blend you decided to work with and the resulting change in your score out of 10 after tapping.

And if you struggle with falling asleep or staying asleep,

You might like to try choosing an essential oil or blend that promotes sleep and then tap along to the tapping into sleep or tapping for insomnia tracks that you can find under my teacher profile here on Insight Timer.

Essential oils that promote sleep include lavender,

Bergamot,

Frankincense,

Sandalwood,

Sweet orange,

Patchouli and vetiver.

Until next time,

Keep tapping as you notice difficult emotions arise and enjoy playing with different essential oils to further support your emotional,

Mental and physical well-being.

Thank you for listening.
