Hello and welcome to our meditation on Connection.
Connection is Tuesday's happiness habit and I love Brené Brown's definition of connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen,
Heard and valued.
When they can give and receive without judgment and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.
Connection is a habit that you can practice every day and people who feel connected to others around them,
Connected to their community,
Connected to a greater being whether you think of that as the universe,
Spirit or God,
People who have that sense of connection are happier and working towards feeling connected that way will increase your baseline positivity.
So let's start today's meditation by finding a comfortable position either seated or laying down if you prefer and then take an inhalation and release and another inhalation and release and one last time and this time releasing any thoughts of anything that's happened before this moment and any need to think of anything that will happen after.
Scan your body for any place that you can send a little extra energy to release tension and add ease.
Think about maybe your brow.
Unclench your teeth.
Drop your shoulders away from your ears.
We are all connected.
We may not see it or see the impact of this connection but trust that your life influences the lives around you.
Connection can be described as two things or more,
Two people or more that have a common cause or origin.
Connection is a reflection of personal intimacy,
A common interest,
A set of goals that people work towards together.
The benefits of feeling connected are that shared sense of common humanity,
That energy that comes from working with others towards a purpose or goal,
The activation of a higher energy,
Heightened empathy and compassion and one of the great things about becoming connected to others is that quite often that connection to others leads to a greater sense of connection with self.
How do we foster relationships that feel supportive and well connected?
We've all experienced a relationship that is great,
That lifts us,
That inspires us,
That fills our heart and probably we've experienced the other kind of connection where we feel drained,
Where we feel heavy.
How can you truly connect with others if you don't have a trusting connection with yourself?
And that's where meditation comes in.
We want to build relationships using the pillars of gratitude,
Forgiveness,
Acceptance and humor.
When we have these connections,
We become more resilient,
We trust our creativity and we even have a little greater sense of play which is always a joy booster.
For today's meditation,
We're going to use the mantra Aham Prima which loosely translated can mean I am love.
When you are acting from a place of love,
It is easy to make connections.
So we will meditate silently using the mantra if you'd like as an anchor to help that mind stay in this present moment.
The mantra is repeated silently to yourself.
At times it may speed up or slow down,
It may morph into an entirely different phrase whatever happens,
Just trust that it is the perfect thing for you today,
Right now.
During the meditation,
You may notice distractions,
You may feel things in your body or hear sounds outside,
Whatever happens,
Just allow it and use that mantra Aham Prima to bring you back to this present moment,
Giving yourself a gift to connect at that level of collective consciousness with all the other meditators in this world,
Right now at this moment.
I'll mind the time so you don't have to and when the silent portion of the meditation is over,
You will hear a chime.
Listen,
Your mantra is I am love Aham Prima.
Repeat it softly to yourself Aham Prima Aham Prima.
Right now.
It's time to release the mantra,
Aham Pramah,
I AM LOVE.
Anyone is by nature a social animal.
Anyone who cannot lead the common life or is so self-sufficient as to not need to and therefore does not partake of society is either a beast or a god.
And that's Aristotle.
I hope you find someone to connect with today.
Maybe a smile,
Eye contact,
A hug,
An email or a phone call.
Whatever it is,
Know that connecting will make two lives happier.
I am your happiness expert,
Tamara,
And I hope you have a joyful day.
