Hello,
I'm Tamara,
Your happiness expert,
And Wednesday's happiness habit is letting go.
Why do we want to let go?
Anytime we're attached to a thing,
A way of being,
Other people,
Or anything in our lives,
It's like an anchor that holds us back from being our fullest,
Happiest self.
So I'd like you to start by finding a comfortable position for this meditation.
You can be seated or laying down,
Whatever works for you,
And just slowly allow your eyes to close gently.
And then to practice our process of letting go,
I'd like to start with a quick body scan.
This means we're going to begin at the toes and just check in physically with a heightened awareness on each area of your physical body.
You're looking for tension or physical discomfort or a heaviness.
Start with your toes and scan up to your ankles,
Through your feet,
Through your calves,
To your knees,
Up to your hips,
Through the center of your body,
Your abdominal region,
Your digestive system.
Checking in with your ribs,
Your lungs,
Your heart,
Your shoulders.
Down your arms right to the tips of your fingers,
And then up your neck,
Right to the crown,
Not forgetting your jawline,
Your eyes,
And your tongue.
Any place you feel effort,
I want you to release it.
You might do this by just thinking about relaxing,
Or you might imagine a bright white light headed to that area,
Or you just might focus your breath and think of breathing right to that place,
Wherever it is that you've felt something that you can let go of.
Then I'd like you to join me in three cleansing rounds of breath with our focus on inhaling what you want and exhaling what you don't.
Let's start with an inhalation and release.
One more time in,
And release.
And the last one in,
And release.
Letting go is just your ability to remember,
I can own things,
But nothing owns me.
This means when something goes wrong,
We don't have to hold on to it.
The only lasting trauma you suffer is trauma that comes without positive change.
So letting go of the past,
Of anger,
Of fear,
Of perfectionism is important for your continued growth.
Limiting beliefs is something that many of us need to let go of.
Our beliefs that we are not enough,
Our beliefs that we can't be as successful,
As attractive,
As happy as we want to be.
These limiting beliefs may have started in childhood,
They may have come from parents and peers and school and church and your community.
They're there in the stories that we hear when people tell us,
No,
You need to set a realistic goal.
And eventually we believe that the things we want aren't right for us.
I'm going to encourage you today to let go of any belief that any dream you can dream is too big.
Why do we let go?
We let go as a way to be truly present.
When you're present in the moment,
You don't need to hold on to being a certain way,
To looking a certain way or to having other people like you.
Confidence comes from knowing who you are and having comfort in showing that to other people.
Letting go happens when you stop pretending to be different than you truly are and embrace who you are today.
Freedom lies in letting go of perceived hurts from the past.
In the words of Hafiz,
We have not come here to take prisoners or to confine our wondrous spirits,
But to experience ever and ever more deeply our divine courage,
Freedom and light.
So I'd like you to start by thinking about one thing that you could let go of.
This might be something material,
It might be something spiritual,
It might be a belief,
It might be a relationship that's not serving you anymore.
And I'd like you just to plant the seed that this is something you need to let go of.
You're going to stop yourself from worrying how to do this.
And you're just going to observe how your physical body feels when you think of the lightness of letting go.
How it would feel to not have this dragging you down.
What would be different?
And then I'd like you to release any need to be thinking and we're going to come to a silent portion of this meditation.
And in this silent portion,
I want you to use the centering thought,
I am wholeness.
The Sanskrit word that might accompany this thought is servata.
So if you'd like to use a mantra for this two minute silence,
You can just think the word servata again and again,
Silently to yourself.
At any time during this meditation,
You might forget the word,
It might change.
That's okay.
Let go of any need to have it right and just let it become whatever it becomes.
It's part of the practice.
I'll mind the time so you don't have to.
And at the end of the meditation,
You will hear a chime.
Again,
That mantra is servata.
Servata.
Servata.
So release the mantra and slowly bring your focus back to here and now.
Those who seek security in the exterior world,
Chase it for a lifetime by letting go of your attachment to the illusion of security.
The illusion,
Which is really an attachment to the known,
You step into the field of infinite potential,
The place where true happiness,
Abundance,
And fulfillment await.
Let go.
Be happy.
I hope you've enjoyed this meditation.
Have a beautiful day.
Namaste.
