Welcome to this simple breathing exercise.

Becoming relaxed is easier than you may think.

All it takes is a few minutes of your undivided attention.

So make sure you won't be disturbed by anyone or anything.

Finding a comfortable position,

Somewhere you can easily relax.

You want to have all of your body supported and clothing loose around the waist,

To allow for easy breathing.

You may close your eyes at any time.

Begin by taking a nice deep breath in,

Feeling your chest fill with air.

And as you breathe out,

Pay attention to the sound that the air makes as you exhale.

When you breathe in,

Hear the sound of the air filling your lungs.

Placing all of your attention on the breath,

Breathe in as much as you can,

Expanding your lungs and feeling your belly rise.

Let the air go and feel yourself relaxing.

Now breathe in again,

Fully focused on the air coming in.

And breathe out,

Focusing on the feeling of the out breath.

Breathe in,

Noticing your body filling with air.

And breathe out,

Feeling your body contract.

Now allow your breath to return to a natural,

Automatic flow,

And notice how you feel.

You are experiencing the benefits of mindfulness,

A training exercise for the mind.

It's not about perfection,

But more about improving your ability to be mindful and focus,

Allowing for progress to happen slowly in its own time.

Just like how going to the gym grows muscles and improves strength.

But this too is a slow process,

Happening little by little,

With focus and attention.

So take five deep and slow breaths on your own as you count them,

Each breath slower and deeper than the last.

Now let your breath return to an automatic rhythm.

Notice how you feel after taking these five conscious breaths.

Breathing fully and thoughtfully is a wonderful way to ease tension and become one with the present moment.

You can return to this exercise and focus on the breath at any time of the day to ground,

Reset,

And relax.

If you had your eyes closed,

You can gently open them.

Thank you for joining me for this simple,

Mindful breathing exercise.
