Hello and welcome to this meditation.
We're going to use this meditation to help move through,
Around,
Under blocks with movement,
Physical movement and movement of energy.
As creatives,
Many of us have experienced a moment where we're just not sure how to continue with the project,
The artwork,
Or the process.
Somewhere between working ourselves up in knots so that we can't get the work done,
Or leaving our work behind to find inspiration somewhere else and not finding our way back to where we started,
Somewhere in the middle there lies movement.
Where we can continue in our flow,
Reunite with our flow,
Or stay in our flow.
Movement is the opposite of a block.
You can do this exercise laying down,
Sitting down,
Or standing up,
However you find yourself most comfortable.
Let's get started with three belly deep cleansing breaths.
Feel welcome to be as loud as you want or need.
Let's start with a deep belly breath in and out.
In and out.
One more in and out.
Now think about your artwork,
Or your project,
Your process,
Or your journey.
Think about how far you've come.
Even if you're just getting started.
And give yourself credit for everything that you've done or are doing that has led you to now.
Let's do a little fill in the blank.
I celebrate the fact that I fill in the blank.
It's great that I have fill in the blank.
I am really proud that I fill in the blank.
Just take a moment to congratulate yourself on your accomplishments so far,
Even if it's just starting with this meditation.
Wow,
You are awesome.
Now let's take a jump forward into the future at the end of your project,
Your artwork,
Or your process.
How do you hope to feel?
Do you hope to feel excited?
A sense of accomplishment?
Proud?
Relief?
Maybe a combination of some of those or all of those.
I want you to connect deeply if it's happiness,
If it's excitement,
If it's more than one feeling.
Just bring it into yourself.
Bring it into your body.
Feel it on a cellular level so that your body is tingling with that excitement,
That happiness,
That sense of accomplishment.
Hopefully you've created a little feel-good sandwich for yourself,
Congratulating yourself for the beginning of the process and bringing in the good feelings,
The good vibes that you will feel at the end of your project.
Somewhere in the middle lies that pesky little block,
But we're feeling good.
So let's take that block out and examine it without judgment,
Without giving it any words to describe it.
Just look at it for what it is.
It's a point in your current journey.
It's a block.
What is that block?
Can you name it?
Is it fear?
Is it paintness?
Is it confusion?
Is it a lack of clarity?
Maybe you're not sure,
But whatever the block is,
The question is,
What's next?
What's that next little step that will move you closer to your goal?
Let's take that question,
That what's next question,
Fold it up and tuck it in the back of your mind or in a little corner of your heart.
Just tuck it in in your subconscious.
We're going to let the subconscious work on that question,
What's next for a little bit,
While we engage in some movement through a body scan.
I'll guide you through the scan,
Just know that you can do the movements however you feel inspired to do them from whatever position you're in.
Let's start with the head.
Give your head a little shake or a nod.
Maybe roll your head in a circle.
And then let's work on the shoulders.
Move them up and down.
Maybe shake them in a little dance.
Moving to the arms.
Maybe you can stretch them above your head or across them in front of your belly.
Or just shake them.
Next,
The hands.
Maybe open and close your fingers.
Roll your hands around from the wrists.
Or just wiggle your fingers.
Now the torso.
If you're standing up and you know how to roll your tummy,
You could do that.
Maybe sway from side to side from your waist.
Take some deep breaths in so that they move your belly or your chest up and down.
And next the hips.
If you're standing up,
That might be easy.
Just poke one out,
Poke the other one out.
If you're laying down,
You might need to press on your hips with your hands to move your energy and attention there.
How about your thighs?
You can squeeze them tight.
Lift them up and down.
And your knees.
You can bend your knees or touch them together.
Lastly,
The lower legs and feet.
If you're standing up,
You can stand up on your toes.
If you're laying down,
You can point your toes.
Maybe touch your calves.
Now that we have some energy flowing through our bodies,
Let's get centered again with one belly deep breath.
Breathing in and out.
Breathing in and out.
Reach back into the back of your mind or that corner of your heart,
Into your subconscious with the question,
What next?
And just imagine an answer or two.
It doesn't have to be the right one for now,
But any answer to that question,
What's next?
Imagine that that answer is bubbling up so that you can see it,
Maybe even touch it.
Think about the most outrageous next step that you could take.
Something that would surprise and shock the world.
Maybe you don't want to go that far,
But maybe there's something there that you could do to get you going again.
Maybe you just need to pick up your instruments of creativity and ask the question,
What next?
Maybe you're in that hard part of editing and you need to make it fun so that you can get through that part.
Turn on some music,
Dance while you're doing it.
After this exercise is done,
Consider taking out a pen and paper and writing down five ideas of how you can take the next step.
See if any of them speak to you.
If not,
Or if nothing's come to you yet,
Feel free to repeat this exercise as many times as you need to.
Or consider asking the question before you take a walk or jog or clean the dishes.
Sometimes while the body is active,
The mind is active in the background and we can meet our creativity there.
In the meantime,
Try an affirmation.
Let's try one together now.
I am creative.
My creativity flows to me easily and effortlessly.
I owe it to the world and to myself to continue on my creative journey.
I embrace my creative ideas now.
Thank you for joining me on this exercise.
I wish you much luck and please remember that you are beautiful and brilliant.
