Welcome to this guided meditation where we will explore the feelings of being uncomfortable and trying to be comfortable in being uncomfortable.
We always tend to try to run away from being uncomfortable or at all costs avoid being uncomfortable.
But being uncomfortable,
We cannot avoid being uncomfortable.
If we're never uncomfortable in our life,
I think we've missed something.
Because being uncomfortable,
In being uncomfortable,
Lies a big chance of growing and evolving.
And so I invite you to explore this feeling with me.
So make yourself comfortable either seated or lying down.
Make sure you won't be disturbed for this meditation.
Have a look around you and if you'd like you can close your eyes.
But if it feels better you can downcast them.
Take a few deep breaths.
Become aware of your body and the floor that you're lying or sitting up upon.
Feel the surface underneath you.
Feel the support.
And take a moment to really ground yourself.
Maybe it feels good to give yourself some comforting touch.
Maybe place a hand on the belly or the heart or the face.
And become aware of this moment right now.
There's nothing else to take care of right now or think about.
Just really becoming present with what's there.
And take a moment to observe what's there for you without judging.
Without judging if there's any pain in your body or if there are any heavy feelings.
Just observe like you would observe a landscape.
When we see different trees we usually don't judge them for this one is too crooked or this one is not tall enough.
We usually observe them and really take them in as they are.
So I invite you to do the same with yourself.
Your body and your mind.
And if you get carried away come back to the feeling of the surface supporting you or the breath.
Whatever anchors you in this present moment.
And now I invite you to think about a place within you that feels safe and secure.
And if it helps you can also think about a person or place in this world that makes you feel safe and comforted.
Whatever or wherever this place is for you.
Think about it and really get grounded in this feeling of safety and comfort.
And remember that whenever this meditation gets a little bit too much you can always come back to this particular place.
And so I invite you to come up or think about something that is uncomfortable in your life right now.
Maybe something that bothers you.
Maybe something you don't really want to deal with or you don't know how to deal with.
Whatever this is bring it up and see it in front of you.
Don't identify with it but see it in front of you and again observe it as if it was another tree.
Try to stay present with it.
Try to stay present within your body while observing this uncomfortable feeling.
And now think of something that makes you feel really good.
Something that makes you feel happy or something that you're grateful for at this moment.
And again place it in front of you and observe it like another tree.
While staying grounded in this moment.
Observe it.
And let's go back to the uncomfortable one.
Again observe the uncomfortable one.
And observe if it's possible for you to be comfortable,
Feel grounded in yourself while observing this uncomfortable situation or thing or emotion.
Try to be with it.
Stay with it.
And let's go back to something happy,
Something fulfilling or something you're grateful for.
And again take it in.
Observe it.
And now let's see if both of them can coexist at the same time.
Invite both of them in.
Maybe it's two trees growing next to each other.
One with a different shape than the other.
But both of them are equally trees.
They equally have the right to be there.
They can coexist.
And maybe one can support the other to grow stronger.
Maybe one is giving a little shade to protect from the sun.
And again whenever you feel like you're getting carried away,
Come back to the feeling of your body resting on the surface beneath you or to your breath.
And for another moment observe all the different trees that coexist,
All the different emotions and things that are going on in our lives.
And realize that we are complex beings.
And there's nothing binary about our being.
It's not just good or bad,
Comfortable or uncomfortable.
It's a mixture.
It's not white or black.
It's more like shades of grey.
And it's always changing and evolving.
They all have their purpose and their place.
And when we learn to hold all of these complex things at the same time,
That's when we can accept being comfortable while being uncomfortable.
And when you're ready I invite you to deepen your breath.
And imagine that you send oxygen all the way down to your feet and your hands,
Nourishing your body with new oxygen.
Slowly becoming aware of your feet and your hands and slowly starting to wiggle your toes.
And move your feet.
Move your fingers and hands.
And maybe stretch your body in whatever way feels right for you now.
And when you're ready you can open your eyes and continue with your day.
This meditation is over and I wish you a pleasant day.
May you be able to see the complexity and hold space for it.
