Peel the banana meditation for peeking behind the veil of form.
So sitting comfortably,
Closing your eyes,
And taking some nice deep breaths just to settle into your body.
Relaxing your muscles,
Letting go of tension,
And everything you've been thinking about up until this point today.
Imagine that you are now leaning against a beautiful big tree,
A big mature tree.
And you can feel the texture of the bark on your back.
You can smell the scent of the tree.
And hear the leaves rustling above you.
Grown into the life force of this tree,
The beingness of it,
Its presence.
And become aware of the tree's root system extending down underneath the earth,
A big massive network of roots.
And imagine your own root system extending from the trunk of your own body down into the earth,
Alongside the tree's roots and intertwining with the tree's roots.
Your own root system that grounds you to the earth.
Your imagination grows that root system deeper and deeper.
And as you do so,
Feel yourself coming back to this present moment that if you had been thinking about this and that,
That all of those parts of you scattered out there are coming back now here to your body,
To your breath,
Grounding right here with the earth.
Remember how amazing it feels to be in nature,
How calming it is.
And letting those roots go as deep as is comfortable for you.
And then with the next in-breath,
Breathe the earth energy up from the earth,
So nutrients,
Nourishment up into your body to circulate right through your whole being.
And breathing out into the earth anything that you want to let go of,
Let the earth recycle it,
Let it go.
With the in-breath,
Breathe in another deep breath of that beautiful energizing,
Balancing earth energy.
It comes right up to your body,
Through your body,
Into every cell,
Feeding you and then breathing out down into the earth.
And just take a few more of these nice deep breaths.
And then just centering your awareness.
With your body.
And saying to yourself,
I'm not my physical body.
The physical body is not the whole of who I am.
And as you say that,
Imagine that the physical body is peeling away like a banana skin.
Peeling away and dropping away.
But you're still there.
And then saying to yourself,
I'm not my mind,
I'm not my thoughts and all that chattery narration going on in my head.
The mind is not the whole of who I am.
And then imagine you're peeling away the mind like you're peeling off a banana skin and letting it fall away.
But you're still here.
And then saying to yourself,
I'm not my beliefs.
My beliefs about good and bad and right and wrong,
True,
Untrue,
Spiritual,
Unspiritual.
I am none of these.
These are not who I really am.
And then imagine that you're peeling your whole belief system away like a banana skin and letting it fall.
But you are still here.
And now saying to yourself,
I am not my past conditioning.
I'm nothing that happened in my past.
I'm not my past,
None of it.
And I'm nothing that I dream about for the future either.
I'm neither my past nor my hopes and dreams for the future.
Imagine you're peeling away that timeline like a banana skin and letting it fall.
And just enjoying the spaciousness that you have found.
And if you notice the mind popping in with some thoughts,
As soon as you're aware of it,
Just let it go.
No matter what the thought is,
Whether it's an amazing thought,
An inspiring thought,
Or a negative thought,
Any thought,
Just let it go again and come back to that spaciousness.
No matter what the thought is,
Whether it's an amazing thought,
An inspiring thought,
