Welcome,

Dear friend.

My name is Susan.

I am going to share a relaxing chakra balancing meditation with you.

Find a quiet space where you can relax,

Seated or lying on your back.

You may want to place a blanket over your body for warmth and a sense of security.

Ensure that your spine is steady and stable.

Use any props you need to be comfortable.

If you're lying down,

Place your feet about hip width apart and allow your feet to fall softly out to the side.

Place your arms away from your body with your palms up and softly close your eyes.

Allow your body to relax into stillness.

Give your muscles and tissues permission to relax,

To completely let go.

Draw your awareness to your breath.

Notice the cool air flowing into your nostrils and filling your lungs as you inhale.

Sense your lungs emptying and the warm air flowing out of your nostrils on your exhale.

On each inhale,

Sense the expansion in the belly,

Ribcage and chest and the soft release in those spaces as you exhale.

Be aware of the three dimensional nature of your breath.

Notice expansion,

Not only in the front of your body,

But also in the sides and the back of your body.

Allow your breath to be very fluid and relaxed.

Nourish every cell of your body with your breath.

Relax your mind with your breath.

Now become aware of the space occupied by your physical body.

Sense its spaciousness and how more than 99% of it is not solid.

Notice your head and neck in space.

Notice your chest and abdomen in space.

Your whole spine and back in space.

Your arms and fingers filling space.

Your pelvis and pelvic floor occupying space.

Your legs and feet in space.

Now visualize white divine light surrounding your whole body,

Your head and neck,

Your torso,

Arms and hands,

Your hips and legs and feet.

Breathe this healing light in with every breath and feel it enveloping your entire body.

Now draw your awareness to your subtle body energy centers and the energy lines.

You have 72,

000 nadis or energy lines running through your body,

Which distribute prana or life energy.

This energy flows through these channels to different nerve bundles and parts of the body.

When energy flows freely,

Your mind and body are in balance.

The three primary energy channels in your body are the Shashumna,

The Ida and the Pingala.

These all intersect with your seven chakras or energy centers.

Your Shashumna nadi runs from the base of the spine to the space between your eyebrows,

The Ajna chakra.

Awakened energy can flow along this channel all the way to your crown chakra.

The word comes from the Sanskrit prefix Su,

Meaning good or virtuous,

And Mana,

Meaning to think.

It is often translated into Sukhamana,

Which means joyful mind.

The Ida and Pingala nadis originate in the root or Muladhara chakra and weave in and out of the chakra centers before terminating at the left and right nostril.

The Pingala nadi ends in the right nostril and the Ida terminates in the left nostril.

You can tell how open these nadis are based on how open the nostrils are at any given time.

On your next breath,

Imagine you are inhaling only through your right nostril,

Drawing prana into the Pingala nadi,

Nourishing all your chakras.

Imagine the whole right side of your body is breathing.

Every pore of your skin on the right side of your body is taking in breath.

Visualize inhaling only through the left nostril via the Ida nadi.

Imagine that you are breathing only on the left side of the body.

Every pore of your skin on the left side of your body is expanding on each inhale and contracting on each exhale.

Imagine you are breathing through both nostrils equally and begin to breathe your whole body,

Drawing in breath through every pore of your skin from the top of your head to the tips of your fingers and toes.

Now you will bring awareness to each one of your seven chakras or energy centers,

Starting with your root or muladhara chakra that resides in the space in your perineum or pelvic floor.

This chakra is associated with survival and is represented by the earth element.

Visualize swirling red light in the muladhara chakra space.

Imbalance in this space can lead to preoccupation with health issues,

Laziness,

Poor self-care and addictions.

Openness in this energy center brings a sense of grounding,

Stability and security.

The muladhara is the seat of kundalini energy,

Which when released can lead to a sense of enlightenment.

In your mind or out loud,

Say LAM,

The mantra for the root chakra.

Now let's move up to the svadhisthana chakra or the sacral chakra,

Which lies at the base of the spine.

Visualize swirling orange light in this space,

Whose element is water.

This energy center is associated with creativity,

Fluidity and sexuality.

When the svadhisthana chakra is out of balance,

You may experience feelings of guilt or shame.

When it is open,

You feel deep acceptance of yourself.

You can swim or sit by a river to nurture this chakra.

In your mind or out loud,

Say VAM,

The mantra for the sacral chakra.

Now bring awareness to the manipura or solar plexus chakra.

Visualize swirling yellow light in this space.

Manipura means lustrous gem or city of jewels and its element is fire.

This chakra is associated with personal power,

Self-esteem and motivation.

When this energy center is open,

You have feelings of unlimited energy and enjoy learning new things.

When manipura is out of balance,

You may feel controlling or possessive,

Tire easily or have difficulty finishing projects.

In your mind,

Say the mantra RAM to awaken the manipura now.

Now travel along the spine upward to the anapura or heart chakra,

Your center of love,

Compassion,

Joy and openness,

Which is located behind the sternum.

Anapura's element is air and it is the dwelling place for the self.

Visualize swirling green energy in this space.

This chakra forms a transitional bridge between the earthly and celestial realms of our being.

When in balance,

You see good in everyone and feel a sense of unity with others.

You forgive yourself and others with grace.

When your heart chakra is out of balance,

You may overextend yourself to please others.

Experience a lot of negative self-talk.

Have a difficult time forgiving and feel undeserving of love.

To balance the heart chakra,

Ensure your posture is optimal with your chest open,

Not slumping forward.

You can stretch the muscles of your chest by placing the hands on either side of a doorframe and leaning in gently while taking some deep breaths.

In your mind,

Say the mantra YAM to awaken anapura.

Moving up to the vishuddha or throat chakra,

Visualize swirling turquoise energy in this center of clear and honest communication.

This element is ether.

When vishuddha is in balance,

You speak truthfully and live in alignment with your ethics.

When it is out of balance,

You may be over talkative,

Pushy,

Or a poor listener.

Taking a walk in nature is a wonderful way to bring balance back to this energy center.

Say the mantra HAM now to awaken the throat chakra.

The ajna or third eye chakra is located inside the head,

Behind the eyebrow center,

And relates to the pineal gland.

Visualize swirling indigo light in this space associated with intuition,

Clairvoyance,

And imagination.

Signs of imbalance include headaches,

Trouble sleeping,

And feeling in a constant state of overstimulation.

Eating purple foods such as purple cabbage,

Purple kale,

And purple sweet potatoes can help balance the third eye chakra.

Say or imagine saying the mantra OM to shine light on your third eye chakra.

Now we ascend to the sahasrara or crown chakra.

This seventh chakra is located in the crown of the head and extends upward beyond the confines of the physical body.

It is represented by the color white and a thousand petals of the lotus flower.

The crown chakra is where our spiritual evolution takes place.

When this chakra is in balance,

You feel a connection to a divine presence and all beings.

You also experience higher states of consciousness,

Spend a lot of time in meditation and prayer,

And feel a sense of liberation and freedom regardless of circumstances.

I am at one with the universe is a mantra that may help you experience this sense of blissful connection.

If sahasrara is out of balance,

You may feel out of touch with the world,

Feel a lack of connection to a divine presence,

Or feel stuck in worry and fear.

The mantra for sahasrara is silence.

Pause in serene silence,

Reflecting on all that is and your connection to all.

Now visualize your spine and your shashumna nadi.

As you breathe,

Visualize your breath rising from your pelvic floor,

Moving up through the spine,

Nourishing the root chakra,

The sacral chakra,

The solar plexus chakra,

The heart chakra,

The throat chakra,

The third eye chakra,

And then ascending into the crown chakra.

As you exhale,

Visualize the energy flowing back downward,

Nourishing all of the energy centers.

Visualize the flow and the colors associated with each energy center.

Red,

Orange,

Yellow,

Green,

Turquoise,

Indigo,

And white ascending.

White,

Indigo,

Turquoise,

Green,

Yellow,

Orange,

Red descending.

Again,

Visualize that flow.

Red,

Orange,

Yellow,

Green,

Turquoise,

Indigo,

And white ascending.

White,

Indigo,

Turquoise,

Green,

Yellow,

Orange,

Red descending.

Continue to visualize your breath rising and descending,

Opening up your energy channels and nourishing all seven of your chakras.

Now release your focus on the chakras and draw your attention to the easy flow of your breath.

Notice the expansion and release in your body as you breathe.

Hear the soft sound of your breath.

Notice how your breath animates your body,

Affirming life,

Bringing in fresh prana,

Fresh energy.

Draw your awareness now to your body resting,

Your whole physical body resting.

Notice its outline and form and the contact points of the body with the floor or chair,

The air around your body.

Bringing some slow movements into your fingers and toes.

And when you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Namaste.

Namaste.
