Hello and welcome to 7 Steps to Releasing Work-Related Stress.
Imagine the number of searches that are happening about stress at work,
That people are trying
to alleviate this issue for themselves.
83% of the workforce,
According to the American Institute of Stress,
Are stressed out.
And the United States ranks at the top for the highest amount of work hours that are
over 40 hours per week.
I'd like to share with you 7 Steps to Releasing Work-Related Stress,
And the first question
to ask yourself if you're feeling this is,
What is stressing me out at work?
To name and to recognize what you're feeling stressed about.
Perhaps it's workplace politics,
Or that you're not feeling fulfilled.
Maybe it's just the monotony of what you're doing,
Or there's no career advancement.
Whatever it may be,
Naming it specifically will help actually to alleviate that stress
and tension that you're feeling.
So first is just acknowledging that I feel stressed.
The second thing that you can do is to practice a ritual.
And this ritual is when you are leaving work that you're actually leaving behind the energy
of your work.
And this can be any act,
Whether it's your drive from work to home,
Perhaps it's taking
a shower.
And through this ritual,
What you're telling your subconscious brain is that I'm done,
I'm complete,
And I'm moving on to this next part of my day.
And this is an important step because oftentimes people are kind of carrying around the stress
that they have accumulated and the people that they've exchanged with.
And then they're just,
You're feeling emotionally distanced when you come home and disengaged.
And it's not about zoning out on the couch.
It's about zoning in to yourself.
And this is an act of self-care that you can take where you are consciously releasing the
energy of your workday,
Washing your hands if you can't take a shower,
Releasing the
energy of your workday,
Letting things go through exercise,
A walk in nature,
And then
moving on so that you can be present in the next part of your day.
And the third thing is intention,
Is to begin forming a conscious intention around your work.
What is your intention for your work?
Perhaps it's to be a person of service.
Maybe it's to connect people,
To be a connector,
Or to feel this easeful balance.
Whatever that is,
Begin to become conscious and more deliberate.
And you can do this through intention.
And there's a few ways you can practice this intention.
One is for your work.
And then exercising,
Remembering your intention before you come into work.
And if you find that there are certain people or situations or projects that are stressing
you out,
Formulating an intention with those stressors.
So instead of letting them unconsciously stress you out,
You are going to have an intention
that you're not going to take on any negative energy or extra energy that you don't need.
And when you go in with that intention,
You realize it,
You experience it.
And then same for when you leave work,
Practice that intention through your ritual.
That I'm leaving this here.
It's like closing the door.
If you work from home,
Tidy up your desk and close your door.
You're complete.
The fourth thing that you can do is align your core values with your true purpose at work.
Sometimes we lose sight of what we're doing because we get caught up in the externalities
of what's going around us.
Maybe it's the competition.
Maybe it's what other people think.
Whatever it may be where you're losing your chi and your focus.
Begin to really think about why you're there.
What are your values that you want to stay connected to?
And what's your purpose at work?
And again,
This connects back in to your intention.
When we don't have that inner focus,
We can lose our focus and our center.
So this is about establishing for yourself from the inside out what you want to experience.
It's like setting the energy for yourself at work.
And that's about having your own focus and letting yourself channel your passion.
So remembering and coming back to your passion and your purpose.
And the fifth step is knowing where you're going.
See your end goal.
Why are you there?
What do you ultimately see and envision and wish for yourself?
Not a selfish thing to think about this.
It serves you to know what you'd ultimately like to experience in your work.
Because that will help you get there.
Being clear about it and anything that doesn't align to your end goal,
Your needs,
Your desires,
That you can start to make decisions away from that.
Choose actions.
Because this will also inform you,
Give you the feeling and your feeling guides your behavior.
And being connected to this is so important to your success,
Your personal success.
The sixth thing is to remember why you're there.
Why are you here?
Why are you at your current place of work?
And it could be anything.
Maybe it's to help humanity.
Or maybe it's just to pick up a paycheck.
But being aware and knowing why you're there.
And lastly,
No matter how hard,
How much pressure we experience at work,
There's always something to be grateful for.
Consciously practicing gratitude for the work we have now
releases stress and it opens up the pathway to experiencing more ease and grace.
There's always things that you can focus on that you're grateful for.
Maybe this work provides for you,
Provides for your family.
You work with great people.
You're helping people.
Remembering at least one thing that you're grateful for every day.
And this is a great practice at the beginning and at the end of work when you're leaving your workplace.
Thank you so much for learning about these seven steps to releasing work-related stress.
I hope this helps you in finding more ease and fulfillment at your workplace.
