This Red Earth Grounding & Healing Yoga Nidra was written in remote Western Australia on Badimia Yamatji country. I have a strong connection to, and love of this country. This an evocative practice where you will connect deeply, and receive healing from the beautiful red earth, and then gently release back to the earth that which no longer serves you. I hope you enjoy this track, it was a delight for me to take time out of my daily life, journey into the wilderness and create this track for you.

This Yoga Nidra was written and recorded in my caravan in a remote part of Western Australia on the Dhimya Yamatji country.

It's a place of rich red earth,

Vast blue skies and a landscape so expansive you naturally feel your breath deepen as your eyes take it all in.

At night the inky black sky is filled with stars and the milky way looks like a giant brushstroke painted across the sky.

This is hot desert country and the land is dry and arid in summer but right now we're on the cusp of spring.

This winter has gifted the earth the most plentiful and nourishing rains and the desert has been brought to life with small shrubs and grasses,

A carpet of wildflowers in every colour imaginable and an abundance of bird life that you will hear in the background of this recording.

So now the scene is set it's time to lie back settle in and make yourself as comfortable as you can be as we begin our journey onto the red earth and into deep conscious relaxation.

You may wish to imagine that you are lying on the beautiful soft red earth which has been gently warmed by the afternoon sun and as you settle down into your position the earth gently sinks and shifts to accommodate and welcome your body.

You're gently nestled into the earth and you are comfortable,

Warm,

Safe and supported.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in release the breath with a big sigh as you breathe out completely surrender to the earth beneath you another deep breath in and sigh it all out feel yourself slowly settling in to this nurturing position of comfort and rest one more deep breath in and release all of the breath as your body releases and relaxes you start to become heavy so heavy it feels like your body is sinking into the beautiful warm red earth beneath you bring your awareness to your face now and invite all of the facial muscles to soften and become slack soften the eyes,

Cheeks,

Mouth,

Lips and ears relax your tongue part your teeth slightly allowing your jaw to release and your whole face feels soothed and soft you give your whole face permission to let go focus in on your shoulders now and encourage them to gently drop down away from your ears your arms and hands become loose and heavy and you consciously release any tension being held in your legs as you focus on relaxing your legs your feet loosen and gently fall out to the sides your belly is soft calm and free of tension your chest is open and expansive your whole body is unwinding softening releasing and still and contained within this stillness is the gentle movement of your breath the natural ebb and flow your own perfect rhythm your body breathing in and your body breathing out just sensing how the breath moves in your body feeling what it is like to breathe the cool air enters your nostrils with the in-breath as the lungs chest and stomach expand there's a short pause at the top of the in-breath as the breath changes direction then as the warmer air leaves your nostrils your body softens relaxes and sinks deeper in body breathes in and body breathes out gently watching the natural breath leave the awareness of the breath behind and journey with me now as we rotate our awareness through parts of the body feeling and sensing the parts as they're named and moving to the next part there's nothing to do here besides keeping your mind alert and focused on my guidance as you allow your body to relax completely the intention is to remain awake but if sleep does come you will still benefit from this practice starting on the right side of the body with the right hand thumb picture your thumb in your mind and feel the thumb moving to the index finger of the right hand middle finger ring finger and little finger palm of your right hand top of the hand right wrist lower arm elbow upper arm armpit shoulder the whole right arm whole right arm is relaxed right side of your chest waist hip thigh knee calf muscle ankle heel sole of your right foot top of the foot right big toe second toe third fourth and fifth toe feel the whole right side of your body whole right side of your body is relaxed move your awareness to your left side the left hand thumb place all of your attention on the left hand thumb index finger of the left hand middle finger ring finger and little finger palm of your left hand top of the hand left wrist lower arm elbow upper arm armpit shoulder the whole left arm whole left arm is relaxed left side of your chest waist hip thigh knee calf muscle ankle heel sole of your left foot top of the foot left big toe second toe third fourth and fifth toe feel the whole left side of your body whole left side of your body is relaxed take your awareness to the back of your heels back of the legs glute muscles lower back middle back upper back back of your neck and the back of your head your forehead right eye left eye right eyebrow left eyebrow the space between the eyebrows feel into the eyebrow center right temple left temple right cheek left cheek right ear left ear your whole jaw chin lower lip upper lip the tip of your nose bridge of your nose the whole of your nose the whole of your face your whole face is relaxed soft and free of tension moving down to your neck chest heart center feel into the heart center abdomen navel pelvis thighs knees shins tops of the feet feel both legs both arms your whole torso and your whole head feel the whole front of your body whole back of your body whole body whole body whole body repeat mentally my whole body is relaxed my whole body is relaxed now picture in your mind your entire beautiful body lying still peaceful and deeply relaxed feel the stillness and calmness you have created and once again imagine that you are lying on the beautiful red earth comfortably nestled in the earth is inviting and willingly supports you it's late afternoon and the earth has been gently warmed by the sun and is the perfect temperature for you the warmth has a soothing effect on your muscles and you feel them slowly unwinding and relaxing your muscles softening and sinking into the earth your whole body relaxing and letting go bring your awareness to your breath the breath is effortless spontaneous and flowing focus in on its gentle movement breathing naturally and following its path staying with the awareness of the breath we now introduce a count breathing in 20 20 breathing in 19 breathing out 19 down to zero if you reach zero or lose the count just start again at 20 breathing in and counting breathing out and counting all of the awareness is on your breath and the count breathing in breathing out and counting leaving the count behind now remain with the awareness of breath placing a soft attention on the breath as it gently ebbs and flows feeling the subtle movement our body makes to accommodate each and every breath the breath is soft and effortless and has its own perfect rhythm and as you lay here perfectly still there is an awareness of feeling gently embraced and held by the earth and you notice that your body is able to sink down and surrender into this loving embrace even further you have a strong connection to the earth you feel its gentle heartbeat and you may even feel yourself and the earth are breathing as one as you witness the breath gently in the background you use this connection with the earth to ask for healing invite healing with each in breath and with each out breath we softly release you could also invite wisdom or insight from the earth whatever feels right for you tuning into the earth and receiving with an open heart breathing out and kindly releasing everything that no longer serves you as you welcome in these gifts from the earth there's a sense of comfort,

Warmth fullness and expansion it's like every cell in your body is vibrating and tingling with positivity as you make your offering back to the earth with the out breath you feel the release a deep sense of relief comes with the letting go and there's a lightness of being breathing in and receiving breathing out and releasing as we approach the end of this yoga nidra start to take some deeper breaths a few deep nourishing breaths feel the contact between your body and the surface beneath you notice the touch of the air on your skin and the weight of your clothing and covering start to externalize your awareness remembering where you are and the time of day listen for sounds happening around you visualize the room you are in and begin to slowly and gently stretch and move your body taking as much time as you need to bring yourself back or remaining here to rest some more if you wish thank you for journeying with me to this grounding and healing red earth country today the practice of yoga nidra is now complete
