Good morning meditation.
This meditation involves a visualization.
We're going to be visualizing in our minds a tree.
So the meditation is best experienced standing up.
So,
Standing,
Bringing yourself into a comfortable position,
Your feet resting firmly on the ground,
Your body standing upright,
Relaxed,
But with a sense of purpose,
Closing your eyes if it feels comfortable to do so.
Becoming aware of your whole body standing here.
Tuning into your surroundings,
Noticing any sounds,
Using these signs to help bring you into this present moment.
And now,
Allowing those signs just to fade into the background,
Allowing your mind to join with your body and breath,
To experience this precious moment.
No need to rush off and plan or arrange the day ahead.
During the day there will be much opportunity to be busy.
This is our opportunity to just be.
And so there's an invitation now in your mind to visualize a magnificent tree.
It may be a tree with which you're familiar,
A favorite tree,
Or it may be one that you create in your mind at this time.
Imagining a tree that is deeply rooted,
Flourishing,
Healthy.
Your tree may be one that is full of leaves.
It may have buds or blossoms.
There may be birds resting or nesting in its branches,
Allowing a clear picture of that tree to develop in your mind.
And starting now to imagine that you are that tree.
Your feet and legs,
The roots,
Reaching deep into the ground.
Your torso,
The strong trunk.
Your arms and hands,
The branches extending outwards.
And your head,
The crown of the tree rising high into the sky.
Enjoying that feeling of being grounded,
Being connected with nature,
Being part of something so much bigger,
So much stronger.
Experiencing a sense of steadiness,
A sense of unwavering at the core.
And becoming aware now of your breath.
Visualizing the breath,
Flowing right down into the roots of your legs and feet,
And then back up the length of the torso,
And out again through the crown of your head.
The breath flowing right down your body into the roots of your legs and feet,
Then flowing back up the length of the torso,
And out again through the crown of your head.
Imagining this breathing movement for the next minute or so.
The breath flowing right down the body into the roots of the legs and feet,
And flowing back up the length of the torso,
And out again through the crown of the head.
Feeling a sense of gratitude for the air which is coming into your body.
With each in-breath,
A sense of gratitude for another day of life.
Breathing out any stresses or worries,
Allowing them to be carried away like leaves in the breeze.
Having a positive intention for the day.
Twenty-four brand new hours are ahead,
Each providing fresh opportunities to reawaken to life.
To give to this day and to receive from it.
To be alive to these twenty-four brand new hours.
And now slowly starting to reconnect with your surroundings.
Tuning back into any sounds,
Any physical sensations.
And when you're ready,
Opening your eyes and bringing your meditation to a close.
