Opening To A "Best Version" Of Yourself
This journey begins with an easy grounded dynamic presence in the body - followed by a playful exploration of your "Best Self" - ending with gratitude and a special "Do Nothing" practice. You will end with an easy acceptance of new possibilities. Try it.

So in this meditation,
We're going to explore different views,
Different stories,
Different possible experiences we might have in this lifetime or maybe in a make-believe world of sorts,
Just to explore what might feel good,
What might be a possibility.
So first,
Just to get settled,
Stretch up.
If you need to stretch your arms overhead or to the side,
Do that and just get the body comfortable and settled.
A big part of this stretching is a form of self-care and it's also teaching us to tune in.
What feels good?
How do we know we want to stretch?
What's the stretch feel like?
What does it feel like after this stretch?
The more we're tuning into the body,
The more we're in the present moment,
The more we have a different relationship with our body.
And on that note,
Let the spine stretch up in the way the arms did.
It should feel good.
It's creating space in the back of the neck,
The small of the back,
Head balanced easily and lightly on top,
Maybe sliding a tad towards the wall behind you.
Big breath in and on the breath out,
Just let the body settle.
Let the face be soft.
Let the jaw drop.
Shoulders relax back and down,
Opening the chest.
Let the belly be soft and let the breath just drop down easily and naturally into a soft belly.
And as the belly softens,
You might also allow the breath to drop into the lower sides and the lower back so that it's moving out in all directions,
Like a three-dimensional breath in,
Not just in front.
This helps us be more present and grounded.
And now,
Take a moment to think of your best self.
It might be someone you could be.
It might be someone you might have been in another dimension,
But just in terms of the gifts you have in this lifetime,
The possibilities,
The potential.
What's a direction you could have gone?
Something you could be doing that would feel good to you,
Feel good in the world,
With relationships,
Feel good in terms of what you're actually doing.
Maybe it's helping people.
What kind of person are you in this parallel universe?
What kind of sense of humor do you have?
What kind of things do you think about,
Care about?
And what are the qualities of this imagined best self that you would like to have?
Could be strength,
Kindness,
Care,
Compassion,
Abilities to do things,
To see things,
To say things.
Just visualize this person.
What do they look like?
How do they talk?
What's their life like?
What's a day in their life like?
What do you admire about them?
What have they overcome?
Who do they love?
How do they move?
How do they respond to and work with their emotions?
Just make it up.
Anything is possible.
And visualize a moment,
Maybe a place,
An event,
Some glimpse of a moment in their life where you see them.
You're one of the people around them who knows how this person works,
How they move through the world.
How do others see this person?
How do others feel about this person?
And then step inside them.
What's it like from the inside of this person?
How is this person different from you?
What's their view?
What's easy for them that isn't for you?
Maybe they have abilities you don't have.
Just try them on.
What's it like to move through the world inside this version,
This person?
And what surprises you when you move inside of them?
What do you see that you didn't expect to?
What do you realize?
What do you feel?
What's different?
Is there a surprise?
Maybe something's easier.
Maybe you see something differently.
And now,
Come back to feeling yourself in your body here at this moment.
Two arms,
Two legs,
Torso,
Throat,
Head.
Kind of arrive back into the present moment,
Feeling touch sensations,
Weight of the body,
Feet on the floor.
Very neutral grounding.
Sensations that tell you you're here right now and in this moment.
And from here,
Reflect on this other person and what were just the one,
Two,
Three qualities or aspects about them that strike you as something you'd like to have in this lifetime.
And you just felt what it was like to have it.
So now you could just imagine that a part of having been inside them and seeing them,
Part of that just kind of rubbed off a little bit.
And just a little bit of those qualities kind of got retained into your present DNA.
Imagine how even having a little bit of that might change or affect your day,
Your work,
Your relationships,
Your moment-to-moment experience of life.
Thank this person for giving you this little experience in this moment.
You may meet them again.
You may meet another version of them.
Maybe set an intention that just having this easy imagining exercise helps some part of you open to the qualities that you would like to have,
To be,
Ways to think,
Ways to see the world.
Maybe just a little bit.
Consider that possibility and then give gratitude for who you are now,
What you have now,
Relationships you value,
Things you've accomplished,
People you've helped,
The person sitting right here now in this skin,
Qualities about you right now that are noble,
That are inspiring,
That are good.
And give gratitude for the qualities you have now.
Gratitude for anything in your life.
Appreciating the richness that you can enjoy,
That you've earned from what you've done and from who you are,
And the courage you've called upon even when you didn't think you had any.
Where did that come from?
It was in there.
Maybe courage to have conversations.
Maybe courage to imagine a different way to frame things.
Maybe compassion for others.
Maybe love that seemed beyond you,
Yet it was in you and came from you.
Send some gratitude and appreciation for any of this,
What you have,
What you have had,
And what you know you are or is in within you.
And then take a nice deep breath in,
Big breath out,
And let all that go.
And just for a few moments,
You don't have to think about anything.
Let go of what you imagine.
Let go of what you're grateful for.
There's just you in this moment.
Just let go.
Do nothing.
Don't have to think of anything.
Don't have to do anything.
Don't have to be anywhere.
Just let go of the wheel.
Let go of any need to even direct where your attention goes.
Just do nothing.
Good.
Now,
Try a last nice deep pleasurable breath in,
In a big luxurious sigh out.
And just notice after this meditation,
And maybe for the rest of your day or evening,
What feels different.

Powerful visualisation meditation! Clear, calm, well-paced. I found the teacherโs guidance very effective for identifying my blocks to being my best self, and therefore what I need to be letting go of. Thank you! ๐๐
