Take a pause to breathe deeply, drawing your mind to the present moment. Remind yourself of how special you are, and that you're worth a few minutes of self-care. Carving out little moments like this can keep us going in even the busiest of days.

To begin,

Find a comfortable seated position.

Close your eyes and turn your attention to the breath.

Let's observe which body parts move as you breathe.

Are you breathing through the mouth,

The nose,

Or both?

I invite you to close your lips and breathe only through the nose.

This is called nasal breathing.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Feel the air pass through your nostrils,

Filtering,

Warming,

Humidifying the air,

Nourishing your body.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Think about breathing softly,

Effortlessly,

Like calming waves in the ocean,

Continuing,

Releasing,

And continuing again,

Repeating over and over without effort.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Notice how your body naturally moves with your breath,

The gentle rise and fall of the chest,

The rib cage moving upward and outward with each inhale and then returning to its starting point.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Let's deepen the breath.

Focus on sending fresh oxygen down to the pit of your belly into your lower diaphragm.

Feel the belly rise and fall.

Use the diaphragm muscles to massage and move your inner organs.

Inhale,

Exhale.

You're breathing deeper now.

Allow the breath to be a reminder of just how wonderfully you're made,

How your inner and outer body work so brilliantly together to sustain you.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Acknowledge that your nasal breathing is refreshing the body,

Your body,

A sacred temple gifted to you,

A place where the spirit dwells within,

A one of a kind gift from the Creator designed just for you.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Breathe and breathe.

Then breathe again.
