For a time, my experience with an auto-immune disease thwarted my life into cyclical mental, emotional, and physical pain. I’ve found that meditation, even short sessions, helps me rid of past traumas. Instead of holding on to a story of suffering, I can practice letting go and opening to the magic of each day.

In today's meditation,

I'm just going to be open,

Open to the magic of the day.

In the space around me,

I hear the dryer,

The jingle of dog's collars.

At first,

My stomach ache was really distracting me and my mind started to spiral into,

You know,

Doom,

Like something wrong is going to happen and I'm not going to be prepared.

But then I sat,

I sat in silence for what felt like twice as long as what it was,

Just a little eight minutes and I just listened,

Listened to my stomach,

The pain,

I listened to my mind and it's calculating and I noticed that in my mind,

In my mind,

I knew that I have the power to feel better.

I know that my body has the power to find ease and I know I've made the best decisions for my body,

What I'm eating,

The medicine I'm taking,

The health practices to help.

And just with a few breaths in the mind,

In the stillness,

Like the knot and the aching went away and I feel normal and now taking the time to remember what this feels like,

Not in case I get in pain and need memory,

But just to live in it.

Now what do I do with this able body?

Now what do I do with this energy and power and health?

Chronic pain has been a mind trip for sure,

Like just powering through even though you're in pain,

But now I'm trying to try a different route and like heal from within.

And now my next question is what are the next steps I can take to continue feeling better and that's safe for my body?

And that's not in an action of fear over protection and like nurturing.

What do able bodies do?

It's so hard for me to remember.

They go outside,

They do errands,

They eat.

It feels so less complicated when the chronic pain goes away.

I guess it sounds so simple when I say it,

Like what do I do when I'm not in pain?

What do I want to do?

So I'm just going to set up a little meditation for myself.

I rolled out my yoga blanket and put a little,

I'm sorry,

I rolled out my yoga mat and my blanket and I took out some crystals to connect with.

I arranged some of them in front of me and I put two in my hand.

And my intentions for this meditation are to let go of thinking about my past,

Like pain or illness or chronic whatever and letting go of like the story and just opening my awareness to now that life is not about pain and protection,

It's about opening to the magic,

Right?

It has so much potential.

So in the next five,

Ten minutes,

I'll just close my eyes and practice letting go of those thoughts.

And the way I do that is with my breath and my muscles.

So sitting here,

A deep breath shows me that my shoulders are always like,

For some reason,

They go up when I'm thinking and whatever,

Worrying.

So if I take a deep breath,

I notice that my shoulders go down.

I also notice that my stomach kind of like lets go of tension.

I'm also noticing the space between my eyebrows,

Third eye,

Just sort of feels a little more awake.

So what I'm going to do is I'm going to breathe in my nose and imagine it kind of going up to my forehead and then going all the way down to my stomach and then exhaling slowly through my nose.

If that's not enough air practice,

I let out a sigh.
