What’s the difference between listening to relaxing music while lying down versus sitting up? I experimented with this morning’s meditation and found subtle yet fulfilling benefits to simply sitting up.

I did a little experiment this morning with my meditation.

I listened to this audio track,

Just like an ambient kind of peaceful music.

I was still laying in bed,

Had no plans for the day,

And didn't feel like getting up.

So I just listened to music,

And then when it was over,

I felt inspired to sit up and meditate.

So I listened to it again,

And I did my meditation with the music.

It was only 30 minutes long.

And I started this experiment just to see the difference between a lay down meditation and sitting up.

Because for some reason,

Laying in bed and not wanting to get out of bed feels more like depression than meditation.

I wonder why.

I wonder what the why the brain thinks so differently when it's laying down,

Why the body feels different.

My breath feels the same rate,

Maybe not as full and probably not fully circulating.

But there's very little difference.

I barely moved,

But yet I get such a different experience.

My meditation was royal.

That's the word that comes to mind.

It felt so fulfilling.

My body feels taller.

I start thinking about different things throughout my day,

Like my errands I need to do.

And I just feel a little more organized.

It's weird when I'm laying down and just trying to relax listening to the music.

My ears were different.

It was tuned in to following the subtle melodies or whatever the changes.

When I was sitting up,

My ears heard it,

But it was more like I was within the music,

Like it was part of my environment.

It was around my body.

It's kind of cool that the solution to depression is like so physically close.

You don't even have to get out of bed.

So for this meditation,

I have a couple of crystals and I'm going to play the music.
