Sometimes you don't really know what's wrong,
You just feel it.
For me,
It can feel like a weight on my chest,
Like I can't breathe,
Or that my whole body is weighted down,
And that's how I know that something I'm carrying is going on inside me.
Unspoken grief,
Some need I've ignored,
Some boundary that I'm afraid to hold.
And so this is important.
Your body knows before your brain does.
That weight is your wisdom.
It's saying something in me doesn't feel safe or seen.
It could be a relationship dynamic,
It could be some pattern at work,
It could be a cycle that you're starting to repeat,
Or tired of repeating.
But when that emotional heaviness begins,
You don't need to have all the answers,
But you do need to listen.
So here's a grounding practice that I use when I feel that weight building.
If I feel light,
I know it's safe to lean in.
If I feel heavy,
I simply pause and pay attention.
If I feel lost and unsure what to do,
I return to myself.
This could look like a long walk,
A massage,
Meditation,
A vacation alone,
Or anything that brings me back to center and a greater awareness,
Because you want to let the body be your compass.
You want to let that weight guide you back to alignment.
You don't have to carry everything alone,
But you do have to notice when you're carrying something that needs your attention,
Because often when we ignore these signs,
It turns into illness,
Addiction,
Depression,
Anxiety,
Or other things because we've ignored the signs for way too long.
So pause,
Breathe,
And return.
