Today we're going to practice meditation to help with compassion and having more compassion for ourselves and for our bodies.
Oftentimes we're hard on our bodies and have a lot of judgment whether that be with our weight or visual appearance or physical challenges that we're having and we don't want to have so this is a time to get present with your body and have compassion for yourself for your body and and also the circumstances in which your body is existing at this time.
Just notice your body now in the chair or on the ground or laying down just notice the surface of what your body is sitting on or up against and just be present with with that for a moment and allow yourself to pay attention to the breath.
I invite you to send love and compassion to yourself and to your body allowing an expanse of heart and space to be there to take in all of that discomfort and strong emotions and on the out-breath breathe out love and compassion for yourself and for your body.
You might touch a space of gratitude for your body and for life as it is without trying to change anything.
And as you continue to breathe,
I invite you to focus in on an area of your body that is possibly in pain recently or currently in this situation or it's an area of your body that you continue to be frustrated with.
Maybe it's a physical appearance,
An internal struggle issue that you've had with a muscle,
An organ,
Whatever it is just focus in on just an area that you've had some frustration with and and you've maybe been less than compassionate about.
I want you to focus in on the area.
Maybe it's your ankles,
Your feet,
Or a knee that hurts or a hip,
A joint,
An elbow,
An arm,
Shoulders,
Some pain.
And I want you to focus in on that area of your body as you breathe out just send love and compassion to that area of your body.
Trust your body.
Trust that your body is doing its best it can.
You may want to in your mind just express that gratitude by saying thank you to that area of your body.
You may also want to say I hear you.
Oftentimes in our pain we just need to be heard and likewise our body in its pain and the frustration just needs to be heard.
So say thank you to that area of your body that has been frustrated,
Aggravated.
Say thank you and I hear you.
You may notice that there are other areas of your body that have also been a frustration.
You might go ahead and expand your awareness to those other parts and areas of your body where it has been difficult and send love and compassion to those areas as well.
Going through one by one the different areas that you may have been struggling with just send love and compassion directed to each of those areas individually.
Make it a sense for the gift your body is to you without judgment,
Comparison,
Or wanting everything or anything to be different.
Just allow everything to be just as it is.
Express gratitude on that out breath for your body.
Express a sense of I hear you.
You may go deeper now into that place where your inner child resides.
That inner child is within all of us who just needs to be heard.
See if you can't tap into that place where there has been frustration,
Where you have not been heard.
Just send love and compassion to that without feeling guilt or shame or going through the stories without judgment.
Just hold a space for that inner child who just wants to be held and just needs someone to say it's okay.
I'm here for you.
I'm listening.
I love you.
I'm listening.
I love you.
And as you end the meditation today you may want to just pause for a moment and just notice is there anything that your body needs at this time.
My invitation is to practice this form of meditation often to really get in touch with the needs of your body but also to have compassion for your body and for yourself as a way to increase your awareness of how to better support your physical,
Mental,
Emotional health and also your spiritual health.
Thank you for joining me today.
