Going Through Hard Times

There are times when we have to face difficult circumstances. This meditation will help you recenter during those times. Whatever personal struggles you are going through, it’s important nurture a sense of inner balance and resiliency in order to move forward.

Welcome.

Today's meditation is focusing on going through hard times and bringing awareness to your personal resiliency to handle the difficulties that you may be facing at this time,

Whether that be difficult relationships,

Emotions,

Physical challenges,

Finances,

Or any other issue or challenge you may be facing at this time.

I just want to invite you to settle in for a moment.

You might choose to gently close your eyes or leave them open if that's more comfortable for you.

Just settle in for a moment in your body.

You Bring your awareness also to the breath.

Breathing slowly in and slowly out.

You If it helps you can put more emphasis on the out breath.

This will help you and this will help your body increase its capacity to handle the difficulties.

You I'm going to mention a few phrases and just see how they land with you.

So remember that you are capable of handling much more than you give yourself credit for.

These difficult emotions and experiences,

You can make it through them.

You Something you can trust in is your ability to come back to the present moment and recognize that you are that loving space of awareness.

There's something greater that we can perhaps surrender to whether you feel that that's a divine being or the universe or even perhaps I like to think of it as my higher self or future self.

The one who knows.

There is this element of surrender when we're trying to control things.

There is a process of simply not surrendering to the darkness,

But it's almost the way I see it is offering up the darkness or the difficulty to the light,

To something higher,

To something greater,

Something beyond what I can see.

So letting go,

Letting go.

You might imagine a light or a breath of fresh air or love entering your body and bringing a cleansing breath into your very soul.

And on the out breath,

You might try just see if you can release and not hold on to the resistance you're experiencing.

You can maybe offer that up,

Offer up the difficult emotions.

I like that phrase offer up because it becomes very simple.

There's not actually a lot of doing in this moment of meditation.

It's about being in a place of stillness and recognizing that you don't have to figure everything out and learning to trust that life will unfold and the path will unfold.

Sometimes people find it helpful to call on a loving presence,

Your future self or the universe,

Where you might bring to mind a loving pet or another animal that you feel close to or another individual that can hold you and be present with you.

See if you can imagine them here with you,

With that presence.

Maybe it's angels or some other divine being.

And simply imagine that they are here supporting you and helping you.

And again,

As you breathe in,

Breathe in that love,

Breathe in that support.

And on the out breath,

See if you can release the difficulty,

Release the painful emotions,

Offer them up.

Take a few moments just to allow that feeling of love to come into your body,

Wash over you,

To bring healing to yourself,

To your mind and your body.

And breathe out the difficulties,

Sending them to the light,

Sending them to the light.

Notice if you can be present with this.

There's no right or wrong way to do this.

Remember,

Notice what emotional states are present right now.

Is it possible to offer those up and not be caught in them,

To not be taken back down by them,

But to simply allow them to be here and allow them to be released.

Now you may have noticed that your mind has wandered off a bit,

That's common,

Especially when working with difficult emotions,

Circumstances.

It's so easy for the mind to want to focus on other things or get trapped in the stories again.

Just notice that,

See if you can bring your awareness back to the breath,

Back to breathing in love and healing and being with and noticing,

Bringing awareness to the difficulties that you're working on today.

Simply seeing if you can surrender those.

So to close,

I just want to offer the invitation to bring compassion to yourself during difficult times.

That perhaps is one of the most important things we can do through mindfulness,

Through practicing meditation.

We can more freely access that self-compassion.

May you be able to access the light as a resource for you during these difficult times.

So as we close now,

You might again bring awareness to your breath,

Bring awareness to your body.

If your eyes have been closed,

You might slowly open them.

Feel free to stay in this space as long as you need to.

Notice if you,

What you feel drawn to do now in this moment.

If you feel like you need to move your body or just be still and rest,

Take a nap,

Go to sleep.

Learn to trust the body and the signals the body is giving you.

I hope that today you've tapped into something that will help you recognize your natural resiliency,

Remembering that you're capable of so much more than you thought you were capable of.

And I hope that in this meditation,

You got a glimpse of that.
