A year ends.
The year comes to a close and as we beckon now a new year,
A new energy.
With Rosh Hashanah,
The Jewish New Year,
We say the following words.
We say,
Let the year with all its negativity end and the new year with all its blessings begin.
With the year that just passed,
We now look forward to the reset.
We look forward to a chance to begin again.
We look forward to the opportunity to revisit ourselves,
To fix ourselves and to go forward into a new year of positivity and vitality.
Rosh Hashanah is the most wonderful opportunity to start again,
To begin again,
To connect again,
To connect with yourself,
With who you truly are,
To connect with all those around you,
Especially at such a time where we feel so isolated.
And finally,
Maybe most importantly,
To connect with your Creator,
To connect with that holy spark inside,
That piece of godliness,
Which remains at all times to the ups and downs of life.
So a new year begins.
In order to receive that blessing,
You first need to allow the space for the blessing to be able to enter and to be held.
If we are holding on to negativity,
If we're holding on to memories,
If we're holding on to the hardships,
Then there's no space for the blessing to arrive.
And so let's meditate together now with a visualization.
The visualization is one of emptying,
Emptying out negativity,
Emptying out fear and suffering,
And creating a vessel that's clean and pure and vacant,
Ready for the blessings to come.
So make sure you're in a comfortable position,
Breathing in through your nose,
Hold for a few seconds and then breathe out again.
Breathe once in again through your nose,
Holding and as you breathe out again,
Noticing yourself much calmer,
Feeling much more relaxed.
Breathing in through your nose,
Noticing the air is cold as you breathe in and then breathe out again,
Noticing the warmer air.
Feel your feet against the floor,
Your body against the chair.
Feeling warm and heavy,
Relaxed at this time.
We're going to keep focusing on the breath.
On Rosh Hashanah,
The Jewish New Year,
We understand the moment where we recreate the first moment when Adam,
When Adam had that first breath blown into him.
So let's focus on our breath again now.
Breathing in slowly through your nose,
Feeling your diaphragm,
Opening your diaphragm and filling it with air.
As you breathe out,
Feeling the vitality,
Feeling that life.
As you breathe in,
Imagine you're being given new life force,
Feeling of joy,
Joy that comes with vitality and breathe out again.
As you breathe in,
Feeling that joy of recreation,
Of reconnection,
Then breathe out again.
As you breathe in,
Nishimaah,
Remembering the Nishimaah breath in Hebrew is linked to the word Nishamaah in Hebrew.
Nishamaah means soul.
As you breathe out,
Internalize this idea that soul and breath are one.
Very quickly noticing your body parts,
Putting into a relaxed state,
Starting with your right foot,
Put it to sleep,
Feeling relaxed,
Lower leg,
Your upper right leg,
Warm and heavy,
Relaxed.
Your left foot,
Your left lower leg and your left thigh,
Warm,
Heavy,
Relaxed.
Your arms,
Your right arm,
Feeling it just go to sleep.
Your left arm,
Feeling it go to sleep.
Your tummy,
Chest,
You have all the tension.
Your back moving up with each vertebrae,
Your right shoulder,
Your left shoulder,
Your neck,
Your right ear,
The right side of your face,
Left ear,
The left side of your face,
Chin,
Mouth,
Teeth,
Tongue,
Nose,
Eyes,
Forehead,
Over the top of the head.
So now,
Warm,
Heavy,
Relaxed,
Open.
These are such sweet times.
What an opportunity we have now to reconnect.
What an opportunity we have now to turn a leaf.
We have to empty ourselves out.
We have to empty ourselves out of the toxic air and the bad conversations.
So as you breathe in now,
Over a few seconds,
And as you breathe out,
Pour out the feelings of mistrust.
Breathe in again.
Breathe out the feelings of fear and insecurity.
Breathing in.
As you breathe out,
Empty yourself of hopelessness and anxiety.
Breathe in again.
I want you to keep this vision of your mind,
Of you as a vessel.
You're breathing out,
You're breathing out all the negativity.
Just keep breathing it out,
Making yourself empty.
There's nothing left.
It's just empty,
Empty.
Breathing in again.
As you breathe out,
Breathe out every last vestige of being in the dark,
Of being lost,
Being alone,
Being unsure and unloved and unwanted.
Breathing in.
Blow out all the breaths of belittlement and bewilderment.
Empty,
Feel empty,
Empty,
Empty.
The joy of emptiness.
The joy of emptiness means that you're now allowing yourself to fill up.
You're going to now allow yourself to fill up.
You'll have the space to fill up now because you've emptied yourself out.
Thayamud says that each year that begins with rush,
With emptiness,
With spiritual poverty,
Ends with rush,
Ends with being on the top.
If you start the beginning of the year feeling empty,
Then you have the space to fill up.
Then you have the ability with God consciousness to fill up the whole year round.
So now you're empty.
Start to feel a little bit more.
You have that space to fill up with light and acceptance.
As you breathe in,
Breathe in and notice that you're ready now for light and acceptance and safety and security.
As you breathe in,
Notice that you're ready for hope and vitality.
The hope and vitality that comes with the knowledge that you are never alone.
Open up.
Open up now to a year of blessing and connection where no one and nothing can impede your spiritual growth.
You're ready.
You're ready for a new year.
You're ready for the new energy of this year.
When you start the year with rush,
Which is the Hebrew word for empty.
We start the year as a vessel that's crying out to be filled,
Has the space,
Has the embrace.
You'll finish the year with rush on the top of the head,
Feeling connected and filled with Godly light.
Spend these last few minutes just breathing in,
Feeling that joy,
That joy of emptiness and the joy of the anticipation,
That abundance of spiritual light that beckons.
Wishing you a new year full of blessing.
