Hello and welcome I'm Sophie and I'm going to guide you through this bilateral brain training exercise and to begin I'll just get you to close your eyes just so you can concentrate better on yourself and noticing the sounds far away,
The sounds closer at hand and the sounds from your own breathing or your heartbeat and just welcoming those sounds without trying to work out what they are and we're going to begin by looking to the right as your eyes are closed looking to the right taking a breath in and a breath out and now looking to the left breathing in and breathing out and now concentrating on the left brain we're going to imagine the number one and then switching to the right brain just concentrating on the right brain and imagining the letter A back to the left brain the number two imagine the number two the right brain imagine the letter B left number three right the letter C left number four right the letter D left number five right letter A and I want you to continue counting through the numbers until 26 on the left side and all the letters of the alphabet on the right side I'll just give you some time if you find your mind is wandering coming back to the numbers on the left and the letters on the right and as you come to the end of the alphabet just noticing the body and breathing into the body as the whole body is breathing breathing and renewing and we're going to do this again except we're going to switch sides so when you look to the left we're going to do the alphabet so the letter A to the left and look into the right it's the number one and we're going to keep going until we get to the number 26 and the letter Z and I'll just give you a few more moments if your mind is wandering coming back to the numbers and the letters and just finishing off and no matter where you are now I want you to take a breath in through the nose out through the nose hold the breath four three two one breathe in through the nose and just breathe normally we're going to do that again breathing in through the nose and a normal breath out through the nose holding the breath four three two one breathe in through the nose and just breathe normally for 10 to 15 seconds one more taking a breath in through the nose breathe out through the nose hold the breath three two one breathe in and just breathe normally and you can open your eyes and I just want you to notice and compare the results was one side more difficult than the other noticing how it is when you're doing numbers or letters on the left side and then how it felt when you were doing the numbers and then the letters on the right side there's no right or wrong it's just comparing the more you practice this exercise the stronger both sides will get.
Thank you for joining me today.
