Welcome,

We offer these meditations freely and your donations make a real difference.

So thank you We are going to practice a mantra meditation And the theme of this month is curious So I wanted something quite playful for our mantra So I've got a Sanskrit mantra and and I know sometimes it's quite nice to write things down if you're Worried about forgetting the mantra if you're like me,

I worry about things like that so I don't know if you want to grab a pen and paper to To have something written down I'll give you a minute in case you do And for the sake of the recording,

So if you're listening back to this It's quite odd doing mantra meditation on a recording because there's so much silence But that's meditation Can't really apologize for having silence in a meditation again Anyway,

So the way that that this goes is we will we'll ground ourselves.

We'll let our breath slow down We'll get settled and then silently We'll repeat the mantra over and over again.

And and usually the mantra will take its own cadence.

It will start to kind of ripple effect into your breath So it becomes a little dance and on occasion the mantra disappears off into its own sound That's actually quite different from the original sound and personally I don't think that's a problem I I'm willing to accept whatever the method meditation wants to do I don't feel we need to control it as such but everyone will have their own ideas around that So the the mantra is Loka Somastar Sukhinu Bhava too.

You may have heard that already it it's a very popular Mantra it means may all beings Everywhere be happy and free So to spell it out if you're writing it down loka is spelt l o k a h Samastar is s a m a S t a h Sukhinu is s u k i n o and then bhava too is b h a v a m t u bhava too Loka samastar sukhinu bhava too May all beings everywhere be happy and free So when we begin I will repeat it out loud a few times and then I'll drop back into silence and I'll come back to it a few times to just kind of keep us reminded as what we're here what we're doing and Let's remember again that meditation often has three clear stages stage one you begin the practice The meditations fresh you're all in stage two you wander off Down a rabbit hole of some sorts and suddenly you notice you're no longer doing the mantra you're thinking of something else That's an important part.

The noticing is an important part.

That's not like oh,

I've messed it up It's a really valid part of the practice and then stage three you return.

Ah,

Yes Loka samastar Sukhinu bhava too and back with the mantra.

So all there's no hierarchy between those three stages There's very Absolutely,

No need to berate yourself at any time.

You really can't get this wrong.

Let it be what it is.

Whatever shape it takes and We're gonna take 20 minutes to do this practice Okay,

I will do thing So let's start by getting ourselves comfortable That might mean lying down on your back it might be sitting in a chair or it might be sitting cross-legged and For a really really Interesting practice I suggest keeping the eyes open But just keeping your gaze down to the floor Very often I try to do that,

But the eyelids just drop So that's just another you know,

We're playing with curious this month It's a another little ingredient that you can play with.

What would it be like to keep your eyes open?

And tongue resting up on the roof of your mouth jaw softening Bring your awareness to your breath Notice the quality the texture of the inhale And the texture of the exhale You might notice the feeling of the in breath and the out breath as it moves through your nose Then you might start to slowly circle the head Dropping ear to shoulder Chin down to chest Other ear across to other shoulder Coming up and over Switching directions Finding your way back to centre,

Circling shoulders And then cycling heart Switching directions And coming back to stillness Bringing your awareness down to your pelvis Noticing points of your pelvis that are connecting to the floor And exploring your relationship with the inner realms of your pelvis And the earth beneath you Perhaps you can feel the texture or the pressure of the surface that you're lying or sitting on And we know that beneath that there's foundations There might be sand or soil And that might become rock Maybe we can get a sense of that As you travel down into the very heart of the earth You'll find heat and fire Maybe you can get a sense of that Allow the breath to become even deeper,

Even slower,
