This is a meditation to help you sleep well at night.
One of the most important things in being able to sleep well is to be able to let go.
Firstly to let go of what happened during the day,
But more importantly to be able to let go whatever is inside the mind and the subconscious mind.
And with the regular practice of this meditation you will slowly be able to cleanse everything that is stored inside you.
So relax yourself.
Whether you're about to sleep in bed or on a couch,
Just keep your body completely relaxed.
Feel your breathing.
Feel the rise and fall of every breath.
Now feel your heartbeat.
You,
The inner being,
Are very much present here within this physical form,
Your body.
Be present right here and right now.
And now I'd like you to start off the process of relaxation by gently relaxing every part of your body.
Let's start with your stomach.
The stomach churns all day.
A lot of our emotions are held in this area.
So I'd like you to now let go and relax all the muscles in your stomach area.
And consciously feel every muscle relax.
Relax more.
Now relax the muscles of your hips.
Your lower back and hips.
Hold energy to do with worry or anxiety about finances.
So as you relax your hips,
Understand that everything will be okay.
When I am open to the flow of life,
An abundance can flow in.
So relax.
Now moving downwards,
Your legs,
Your calves,
Your ankles,
Your feet and your toes.
Relax all the muscles that support you,
That allow you to move forward.
Let your legs become heavy as you let go of holding the muscles tightly.
Let go.
Now bring your energy back to your breathing and allow all of your chest muscles to be very easy,
No resistance to your breathing.
Breathing in and out.
With a gentle rhythm.
Accepting what life has given.
Not because it's perfect,
But because it is what it is.
Relax your backbone,
The greatest support of this body.
Relax your shoulders,
Your arms,
Your hands,
Your fingers.
Let your arms too become heavy as you let go of tension.
Let your shoulders drop.
Then now let go of even the muscles of your neck.
Those tiny little muscles that work together between the shoulders and the neck.
Supporting all the wisdom that is within you in your head.
Relax.
And finally the muscles of your scalp and your face.
Your head should now be feeling very heavy and well supported.
And your body is now still,
Relaxed.
And completely at ease.
Now it's time to move inwards and relax the muscles of your mind.
Like a ball,
A soft ball being held very tightly behind your forehead.
When there is tightness in our mind,
When there is worry,
Anxiety or fear.
Then this is what the state of our minds become like.
I'd like you now to gently let go.
Loosen your grip on this soft ball.
It's symbolic of allowing the mind to let go of all negative,
Wasteful and anxious thinking.
Keep letting go,
Bit by bit,
Of this tight grip you have on the soft ball.
And feel the state of your mind becoming lighter.
Just allow anything that is not useful in the mind to fly away.
Release it.
The mind is like a muscle and it's important to learn to use it correctly,
To think correctly.
But most important is learning to allow it to relax.
It needs rest.
So the ball is now free and my mind is at rest.
Within this ball,
Right at the centre,
Is a little emanating source,
A little star.
Radiating energy outwards.
Filling the ball with energy of light and peace.
And the energy radiates even further into the cells of my body.
Keep radiating energy out.
Keep sending light and peace into your mind and into the cells of your body to every corner of this physical instrument.
Light heals the body.
And this energy of light and peace heal the mind.
And in this state of deep relaxation,
You can gently turn off your mind and drift away into sleep.
And whilst you rest,
The source of light and peace will continue to radiate and nourish the soul and body.
