A short arriving practice that starts with feeling our connection with the ground and the impact this has on our physiology, with an invitation to take a few deeper breaths as we feel into tingling, warmth, pressure, etc. When we feel what's here, where the body meets the earth, we are able to resource ourselves with the qualities of the earth like stillness, holding, spaciousness, and energy. This practice ends with some simple orienting to our external environment, feeling into the space beyond the physical boundaries of the body and allowing a greater sense of being "here."

Take a moment to feel where the body is in touch with the ground,

Through the points of contact.

You might notice that physiologically there might be already a response to this.

So for example,

I noticed I immediately took a very deep,

Long sigh there.

And then it might be that it's helpful to take a few deeper breaths as well.

So feel free.

We're just very slowly,

Gently opening to any sensations here,

Tingling,

Warmth,

Pressure,

Allowing ourselves to feel what's here,

Where the body meets the earth,

And resource ourselves with any qualities that the earth is offering us just now that can support us in our practice.

Qualities like stillness,

Holding,

Energy,

Stability,

Spaciousness,

Grounding,

Settling,

And then just taking a moment to notice any effect that this is having on your body,

On the physiology.

Maybe there's a change to the breathing,

The heart rate,

The temperature,

Maybe there's places of tension that are naturally beginning to soften and open,

A sense of dropping down and releasing into the ground,

And then if there's anywhere in the body that's calling out for attention,

So it could be places of pain or tension or numbness,

But it could also be places where we feel sensations that have the taste of freedom,

Tingling,

Warmth,

Softness,

Expansion,

Or maybe places where there's no sensation.

So just notice what's calling for attention and then the invitation is to place the hands on one or two places that are calling for your attention.

So naturally one of my hands went to the heart and the other went to the shoulder.

I don't know why,

It just seemed to be where the hands wanted to go.

And we're just going to hang out here for a minute,

Just breathing into these areas of the body and what it's like to bring presence and availability through contact,

Through the hands,

And just allowing whatever is emerging to be known and felt in a container of openness and curiosity.

Welcoming whatever's here as best we can just now.

So I'm just going to invite us now to just end with a little gentle round of orienting.

So this is looking round whenever you're ready.

Opening the eyes,

Looking out over one shoulder,

And just slowly making our way around the space we're in just now,

Taking it in with the eyes,

Visually sensing into the space beyond the physical boundaries of the body.

And again,

Just noticing any effect this has,

Just looking round.
