Checking in with the body upon waking is an amazing way to revisit unresolved barriers and ensure that we are open and receptive to the day that lies ahead. In this practice, we explore different areas of the body, the sensations that could suggest a lack of receptiveness, and we focus our energy and intention on those areas to activate them.

Good morning and welcome to today's morning check in practice with the body.

This will just be a quick easy way for you to check in with your body each morning when you wake up.

See if there are any signs or clues it's trying to give you as far as what it needs from you today.

You'll find a comfortable seated position,

Preferably with your back supported and your head free.

If you can,

Plant your feet firmly on the ground.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale through pursed lips.

Close your eyes now.

Take another deep breath in and exhale through pursed lips.

Let your breathing slowly find its way back to a natural pace.

And as you do,

Follow your breathing,

Follow the sensation of air entering into your chest.

And keep going a little bit further,

Almost as if you were following to your root chakra.

Is there anything there?

Anything unsettled?

Anything that's pinching?

Do you feel anything that tells you that something's off,

That something needs attention?

Sometimes this is where emotions that we're trying not to experience or that are uncomfortable and painful will manifest.

Sometimes feelings of that our safety is jeopardized or that we're not speaking our truth will manifest in this spot.

So if you are tapping into any sensations that you're not familiar with,

I encourage you to explore those a little bit more.

Once you've tapped into whatever sensation is there,

Take a few deep breaths in this spot and see if you can visualize light kind of pouring into this one spot.

I can start maybe as a circle of light that slowly grows stronger and more powerful as you focus your energy and intention on it.

And as you keep that circle of light there in that spot,

Do a basic scan of the rest of your body starting with the head.

How does your head feel?

What mindset do you have?

Are there any scripts that you have,

Any narratives that you have already running through your head that might impact your day?

If so,

Is there a way that you can put these aside and allow your head and your mind to remain more open to what the day has to offer you?

Check in now with your neck,

With your throat.

Is there any tightness there?

So this could be an indicator that you're having a hard time feeling heard and you're having a hard time speaking your truth.

If this is a sensation that resonates with you,

Is there a way that you can feel more heard?

Is there something that you're avoiding saying out loud that might help you feel better about your situation or at least feel like you're being more authentically you?

Let's move down to the chest area.

How does this area feel?

Does it feel tight or restrictive or does it feel open and warm?

This is where your breath comes in.

The restrictiveness in our chest,

It does so much more than just make us feel closed off from love and from the world.

Restrictiveness in our chest really impacts our breathing.

And when our breathing is impacted in a way that we're not getting full deep breaths,

That sends a signal to our nervous system that there's something in our way of being calm and in a parasympathetic state.

So instead,

Our nervous system tends to be more on the edge of fight or flight.

So any restrictiveness here,

Any closedness here,

We should really try and tap into now.

Remember that circle of light that you're holding in your core.

If you need to bring some of that light to this area,

That's what it's there for.

As you breathe,

Deepen your breath slowly,

Feel the areas of tightness,

The muscles in between your ribs.

Feel those loosen.

Feel them give slightly more.

Feel their expansion.

A good way to do this would be to put your hands right on your ribs and feel the expansion of your ribs when you breathe.

Just simply focusing on this process will help to ensure that you are breathing more fully and more deeply.

Do you feel warmth in this space now?

Do you feel more life,

More aliveness?

Do you feel like your heart can be open to today,

To what today has to offer you?

Moving next to the abdomen,

Just slightly above where we created this circle of healing light,

How does this area feel?

This is often where our intuition will manifest itself.

Do you feel like you are honoring your intuition?

Do you feel like your intuition is being heard?

Are you living life the way your intuition is telling you to?

This is sometimes one of the hardest things to actually do and we find discrepancies between what's inside of us and what we know deep down in our gut to be right and yet what we do outside is very different.

These discrepancies can cause us a lot of pain but if we look at today,

How can we honor our intuition?

How can we live more in synchrony with our internal world?

Bring some light here if you need to.

Can you live today with a more open mind,

Paying close attention to the pings and the pangs of your intuition and your gut?

And lastly,

Can you tell yourself today that you are safe and that your body is safe?

And if you can do that,

Maybe your mind will be open and you'll feel heard and like you can speak your truth and maybe your heart will be open to what today has to offer and you'll be more in tune with your intuition and feel like you're living your life more authentically.

Use that circle of light now and fill the body with whatever color light feels right,

Warm white light,

Golden light,

Whatever color resonates with an alive,

Awake body and mind and heart.

As you breathe,

Feel that light,

That life force strengthen and slowly soften with each breath.

Now bring attention to your feet,

The soles of your feet on the ground.

This is your exchange with the earth.

Anything that doesn't serve you will flow down into the earth.

This is your grounding.

How does your body feel now?

Do you feel ready for the day?

Open your eyes now.

Thank you so much for joining me today in this morning body check-in.

I hope to see you again soon.
