Our thoughts can be extremely powerful and overwhelming at times,
But that doesn't mean we have to be stuck with them.
In this meditation,
We will practice detaching ourselves from our thoughts and simply observing them.
Find a comfortable position on the ground with your feet crossed,
Hands on your thighs,
With your palms facing up.
Gently close your eyes.
Now begin to notice your breath.
There is no need to make any changes.
Slowly notice the in and out.
Focus now on the cool air coming in with each in-breath and the warm air coming out with each out-breath.
Slowly start to breathe in for a count of four.
1,
2,
3,
4,
And out for 4.
1,
2,
3,
4,
In for 4,
And out for 4.
In for 4,
And out for 4.
Now allow your breath to find a natural pattern again.
And as you do so,
Start to notice your thoughts.
What seems to be coming up for you right now?
There is no reason to judge these thoughts or to try and change them.
Just observe the thoughts that are entering your mind and the feelings they may be bringing up for you.
Are you noticing these feelings manifesting physically within your body?
And if so,
Where?
Now start to imagine someone blowing bubbles.
We see these bubbles start to emerge,
Float in front of us,
And then drift away before they pop.
Our thoughts are just like bubbles,
Emerging and floating in our minds before they eventually drift away and pop.
No thought is permanent,
But it is up to us to decide whether we engage with it or not.
So as you continue to observe your thoughts and the feelings they may be bringing up,
Imagine your thoughts as bubbles,
Emerging,
Floating in front of you,
And then eventually drifting away and popping.
Slowly start coming back to your breath now.
Notice the in and out.
The cool air in and the warm air out.
And take a deep breath in and breathe it all out.
I encourage you to continue to practice observing your thoughts rather than engaging with them.
Namaste.
