Today we will dive into a meditation to connect with our inner child,

The part of you that is pure and blameless and whole.

So as you're getting settled,

Making sure you find a comfortable spot.

You can do this sitting or lying down.

And then just making yourself really comfortable.

So perhaps using pillows or props to help you really settle in and find a comfortable spot with your back supported.

And now taking the time to ground,

Letting the body relax,

Relaxing the hips and pelvis,

The shoulders,

And relaxing the jaw and the face.

And starting to slow down the breath,

Deep inhales and nice long exhales.

Slowing everything down.

Continue with this breath for a few more rounds as you settle into present moment.

And now using your imagination,

Start to imagine a peaceful place in nature.

This could be somewhere that you have been before or somewhere that you're just making up for the first time.

So imagine this peaceful scene and notice where you are.

Are you near the water?

Are you in an open field?

Maybe you are in some kind of forest with tall trees overhead.

Just begin to really color in,

Fill in the details,

Draw in your surroundings.

So what type of trees or plants do you see?

Maybe there's grass or wildflowers.

What do you notice on the ground?

Is it sand or grass,

Rock or dirt?

What do you see overhead?

What time of day is it?

Is it sunset or sunrise?

And also perhaps noticing what time of year it is.

Noticing the colors all around you.

Getting a sense of the temperature of the air on your skin.

Are you bundled up?

Is the weather crisp?

Or are you nice and warm with your arms exposed perhaps?

Are you barefoot?

So imagining yourself in this scene,

What do you hear in this scene?

Do you hear birds?

Do you hear water?

What do you smell here?

Taking deep breath in.

What scents are in the air?

Is there a scent of salt water or flowers or maybe just a smell of wet earth?

The smell of rain.

Let your senses come alive in this place.

Touching the bark of the trees or the sand or perhaps the water on your feet.

And as you're getting comfortable here in this beautiful surrounding,

You start to hear the voice of a child playing,

Laughing and enjoying themselves.

And start to follow the sound of that voice.

And in a little while you come upon this beautiful child version of yourself.

And go ahead and walk up to this child and sit down.

Notice what they're doing.

Are they playing with a favorite toy?

Are they interacting with the landscape?

Are they playing in the water or running through the grass?

Just take a moment here and join them in the activity that they are engrossed in.

And then perhaps starting a dialogue with this child and just asking them what are they up to?

What do they enjoy?

What do they love?

And see what they say.

And perhaps this child is not able to speak and that's okay.

You can communicate with nonverbal cues or just try to get a sense of what this child enjoys.

Gazing upon this child with kindness,

With love and letting this child know that you're here.

Maybe you've been gone a long time but you're here now and you're ready to listen and to offer safety and support for this child.

So see if there's anything that they're inclined to do with you or they want to tell you.

Just take a few moments here to listen,

To observe and to interact.

This child deserves so much love and attention.

This child deserves safety,

Support and love.

This child deserves freedom and peace.

And now you can give that to the child as your adult self,

Giving this child everything they need to feel supported and safe.

And now looking upon this child with kindness,

Compassion and love.

Telling this smaller version of yourself that you love them,

That you see them.

Because that's all they really want is to be seen and acknowledged.

So do that now.

Letting this child know that you will be back again to spend time with them.

And anything else you'd like to add here,

A gesture,

A message,

Anything else to let this child know that you have their back,

That you see them,

You acknowledge them and you're going to give them the things that they didn't get.

And now giving them a hug to say goodbye,

Promising to come back again soon.

And then starting to make your way back the way you came.

Again noticing the nature,

The scene all around you.

And as you're ready,

Coming back to your body.

Now coming back to the room that you're in and giving yourself a little time here before going back to your day to just integrate everything that you heard,

Everything that you learned today.

This inner child wants your attention and your time.

And this is the doorway to growing in self-compassion and self-love is to spend time with these smaller parts of ourself that we may have left behind,

But that are vital and important to integrating as a whole healthy human.

Thank you for joining me today.

Namaste.
