Designed as a moment of self-care for therapists, space-holders, and caregivers to utilize before engaging with a client. The primary purpose is to help you ground and release what is not yours to carry—physical, emotional, or psychological weight—by bringing awareness inward. This guided meditation emphasizes deep, mindful breathing to anchor in the present moment. It encourages sensing the core essence and intention that motivates your work of service. By concluding with a focus on the heart space, the practice ensures you are fully present and nourished before meeting the needs of others.

Hello this is Shannon Algeo.

Welcome to Insight Timer.

This practice is for therapists and space holders,

Caretakers,

To take a moment,

A short moment,

Before your next session or your next client to ground and to release what is not yours to carry.

So take a moment to find your comfortable seat.

And tune your awareness inward.

Notice if you can locate yourself on the inside.

And if you are struggling to slow down,

Just take a moment here to invite some awareness towards the body breathing.

Noticing the quality of the inhale coming in through the nose.

And feeling the fullness of the exhale go out through the mouth or through the nose.

When we give so much to others,

Our attention,

Our presence,

Our counsel,

Our support,

It can be helpful and essential to clear the slate.

To exhale,

To purge,

To soften,

To release anything that's not yours to carry.

You might imagine yourself putting down anything that you're carrying,

Physical weight,

Emotional weight,

Psychological weight,

Tasks and to-dos,

Follow-ups.

And exhale and release anything that is not in and of this moment right now.

Noticing the navel.

Notice how the belly moves away from the spine outward as the body inhales.

And notice how the belly moves back towards the spine as the body exhales.

And sensing that you can locate yourself in the center of your belly.

Feeling the core of you,

Your essence,

Your soul,

Your purpose,

Your intention.

Perhaps the reason that you came into this work of service to others.

Feeling into that core foundation,

That essence of what motivated you to show up.

Or perhaps what's inspiring you to show up today.

And then gently placing one hand onto the heart and placing another hand on top of that one.

And taking some deep breaths into this center of compassion,

The empathic center,

The heart space.

Honoring and acknowledging and meeting yourself exactly where you are right now.

It is from that place that we can meet others and be of service and see and feel our clients.

So just take a few breaths here as we move towards clothing to feel your own heart and breathe some spaciousness into the space.

At the center of the ribs,

Surrounded by lungs,

The beating heart is here with care and compassion.

So just taking a few more moments to tend to your own heart.

Deep,

Full inhale.

And closing,

Cleansing,

Exhale.

I hope you have a beautiful session.

Thank you for the work that you do and thank you for the way you show up.

Have a beautiful day.

Many blessings.
