The 4-7-8 breathing technique is a powerful tool for relaxation, particularly effective when feeling stressed or anxious. This exercise aids in regulating the hormone cortisol, which governs the body's fight or flight response. By practicing this technique—inhaling for four seconds, holding for seven, and exhaling for eight—you can calm your nervous system and promote a sense of tranquility. It's a simple yet effective method to alleviate tension and regain a sense of control during moments of heightened stress or anxiety.

Hello and welcome to this 4-7-8 breathing session with me Shandi Dungana.

The 4-7-8 breathing technique is so powerful because it allows us to move the energy from our heads down to our body,

Allowing a release as we take the time to release our breath,

Consciously choosing to let go.

Let go of our thoughts that no longer serve us,

Letting go of projecting towards the future or looking back to the past,

Allowing us to be completely present in this very moment.

Allowing our breath to take us within,

Deeper and deeper,

As this breath that we have connects us to life and giving our breath the love and attention that it deserves.

As we focus and breathe intentionally,

You will feel the monkey mind start to calm down and start to relax.

You will feel your breathing immediately go from shallow to full breath in and full breath out.

This form of breathing does so many wondrous things to your body and mind,

Like managing cravings,

Reducing hypertension,

Calming our fear response,

Settling our anxiety,

Slowing the heart rate,

Lowering our blood pressure,

Improving our digestion and creating an overall feeling of calm,

Peace and relaxation.

Let's begin.

So get yourself into a comfortable position and start to settle into the body.

Place the tip of your tongue right behind your front top teeth.

Allow your jaw to relax and loosen.

So let's breathe in together and release all the air in our lungs with a sigh.

And as you're breathing out,

Let go of any tension,

Any stress or anxiety in your body.

Take a deep breath in and breathe out.

Set an intention of what you would like to let go and what you would like to bring in.

And offer that intention to your subconscious.

And now bring your focus back to your breath.

With this 4-7-8 breath work technique,

We need to take a deep breath in for four seconds.

Hold our breath for seven seconds and breathe out slowly for eight seconds and continue to repeat that process.

Continue to breathe at your own pace.

Feel how you are deeply intertwined with this breath.

Your breath is your tool to bring you back to the connection to your inner world.

It brings you back to the present moment and allows you to bring that energy from your head down to your body.

Connecting you to your truth and overwhelming you with the feeling of peace,

Relaxation.

No matter what life throws at you,

Remember to breathe as it centers you,

Surrounds you,

And tells your subconscious that you are safe.

Because you are.

You just need to allow yourself to feel that you are.

And your breath can be that anchoring tool to reaffirm to you that you are so,

So safe.

That you can transmute any feelings of stress and anxiety to complete bliss.

I want to thank you and honor you for taking time for yourself to do intentional breathing.
